Studies were carried out to investigate changes of lipid and carbohydrate contents in the hemolymph of the Oriental tobacco budworm(Helicoverpa assulta (Guenee» adults during flight and hormonal effects on mobilization of energy sources in the hemolymph. During a few minutes after flight, both sexes showed a rapid increase in lipid content and the high level was maintained for about 2 hours. But carbohydrate content in the hemolymph during flight showed almost no change but a slight increase seen during the first 10 min of flight in males only. Synthetic adipokinetic(Lom-AKH- n), hypertrehalosemic(Bld-HrTH) hormones and brain/ corpora cardiaca extract of H. assulta adult elevated lipid and carbohydrate contents in hemolymph and the effect was much more pronounced for lipid. These results suggested that lipid is a main fuel for flight activity and lipid mobilization is under the hormonal control. And this study showed that both adipokinetic and hypertrehalosemic factors may exist in H. assulta and these factors may have similar structures to those of Mas-AKH, Hez-HrTH, Lom-AKH- n or Pea-HrTH.
Starch granules of cow pea were oval with their sizes of $6-22{\mu}$m. X-ray diffraction pattern of starch granules showed some crystallinity at $2{\theta}$$15^{\circ}$, $17.1^{\circ}$, $18.1^{\circ}$, $22.9^{\circ}$. The blue value of starch was 0.370, amylose contents 28.1% and water binding capacity 70.6%. Swelling power of the starch increased rapidly from $65^{\circ}C$ to $75^{\circ}C$ thereafter increased less rapidly. Solubility showed the same pattern as the swelling power. Optical transmittance of 0.2% starch suspension was increased rapidly from $70^{\circ}C$ and the gelatinization between $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ was single stage. Amylogram of 4% starch solution showed no peak viscosity but 6% starch solution showed peak viscosity.
The spatial characteristics of stratification In Deukryang Bay were studded using observed data and analytical models. From the description of the density structure and its the potential energy anomaly (PEA) from observed data along longitudinal direction (from the mouth to head of the bays, we found that the stratification Intensity could be changed strongly by density current effect during the spring-neap tidal cycle, and depth variation. To find out density current effect for the formation of the stratification In detail, we Implemented a diagnostic approach by using the modified analytical model including density current, tidal current, surface heating and wind stirring. The model allowed for the observed similarities for the whole domain in the bay and increased tidal mixing efficiency value s up to 0.006-0.007 as compared to the results without density current effect. We found that the density current effect was also an important key factor In determining the formation of the spatial distribution of stratification.
The indole-3-acetic acid(IAA) oxidase activity of shoot and root tips of etiolated pea seedlings (Pisum sativum L. var. Sparkle) during and after chilling was determined. The IAA oxidase level of root tips was 4 to 15 times as high as that of shoot tips. During chilling the seedlings apical and subapical 5 mm shoot sections increased in IAA oxidase activity but apical and subapical 5 mm root sections decreased. When chilled plants were returned to $25^{\circ}C$ to recover, the enzyme activity had a tendency to restore to the activity level of controlled plants.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the toothpaste squeezing methods and the amount of toothpaste that the daycare teachers apply for the children in order to prevent the overuse of fluoride-containing toothpaste among children, and to understand their educational experiences on oral health and their awareness of the right amount of toothpaste used. Methods: The subjects in this study were 87 teachers at 16 different daycare centers in the city of Sokcho, Gangwon Province. They were interviewed to find out whether they had ever received oral health education and whether they were cognizant of the right amount of toothpaste to be used. And a transverse technique and a pea-sized squeezing technique were selected to look for connections between their toothpaste squeezing methods and the amount of toothpaste used by them. Results: 89.7 percent of the daycare teachers investigated taught to preschoolers how to do toothbrushing after they took meals and had a snack. 36.8 percent of the daycare teachers had children squeeze toothpaste on their own. The amount of toothpaste applied by the daycare teachers at a time was 0.58g. When they utilized two other squeezing methods, transverse technique and pea-sized squeezing technique, they used each 0.38 g (p<0.005) and 0.38 g (p=0.405) of toothpaste. Conclusion: To prevent children from being overly exposed to fluoride-containing toothpaste, daycare teachers should learn about the right amount of toothpaste to be used when oral health education is provided, and the transverse technique should be recommended to ensure the use of the proper amount of toothpaste.
To develop the fruits of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) producing high yields of superoxide dismutase (SOD), the MnSOD cDNA from pea (Pisum sativum) under the control of the cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter was introduced into cucumber using Agrobacterium tumefaciens (strain LBA 4404)-mediated transformation. The kanamycin-resistant shoots were selected on the selection medium containing MS basal salt, 1.0 mg/L zeatin, 0.1 mg/L IAA, 300 mg/L claforan, and 100 mg/L kanamycin. After 6 weeks of culture on the selection medium, the shoots were transferred to MS medium containing 0.2 mg/L NAA to induce roots. PCR analysis using the primers for neomycin phosphotransferase (NPTII) gene revealed that three plantlets were transformed. The fruits of one transgenic plant had approximately 3.2-fold higher SOD activity than those of non-transgenic plants. MnSOD isoenzyme band was strongly detected on native gel in fruits of transgenic plants.
Core shell binder of organic/organic pair that has two different properties within a particle were prepared by a step emulsion polymerization of methacrylate (MMA), styrene (St), ethyl acrylate (EA), butyl acrylate (BA), and 2-HEMA by using an water soluble initiator(APS) in the presence of an anionic surfactant (SDBS). Unwoven tensile strength of the core shell binder after processing and measuring the PSt/PMMA/2-HEM core shell with the binder is a value represents the highest was $10.75\;kg_f$/2.5cm, elongation measurements PEA/PBA core shell binder showed the highest value was 120.00%. In conclusion, using the core shell binders were able to control the mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation.

Numerous psychotropic and addictive substances possess structural features similar to those of β-phenethylamine (β-PEA). In this study, we selected 29 β-PEA derivatives and determined their structure-activity relationship (SAR) to their ability to inhibit dopamine (DA) reuptake; conducted docking simulation for two selected compounds; and identified their potential functionals. The compounds were subdivided into arylethylamines, 2-(alkyl amino)-1-arylalkan-1-one derivatives and alkyl 2-phenyl-2-(piperidin-2-yl)acetate derivatives. An aromatic group, alkyl group, and alkylamine derivative were attached to the arylethylamine and 2-(alkyl amino)-1-arylalkan-1-one derivatives. The inhibitory effect of the compounds on dopamine reuptake increased in the order of the compounds substituted with phenyl, thiophenyl, and substituted phenyl groups in the aromatic position; compounds with longer alkyl groups and smaller ring-sized compounds at the alkylamine position showed stronger inhibitory activities. Docking simulation conducted for two compounds, 9 and 28, showed that the (S)-form of compound 9 was more stable than the (R)-form, with a good fit into the binding site covered by helices 1, 3, and 6 of human dopamine transporter (hDAT). In contrast, the (R, S)-configuration of compound 28 was more stable than that of other isomers and was firmly placed in the binding pocket of DAT bound to DA. DA-induced endocytosis of dopamine D2 receptors was inhibited when they were co-expressed with DAT, which lowered extracellular DA levels, and uninhibited when they were pretreated with compound 9 or 28. In summary, this study revealed critical structural features responsible for the inhibition of DA reuptake and the functional role of DA reuptake inhibitors in regulating D2 receptor function.

Infrastructure procurement has been a major engagement route between China and Africa. This contributes immensely to the gradual infrastructure development seen on the continent. However, maturing discourse purports that these infrastructure collaborations lack intentionality in the continuous development of strategic guidelines and policies for effective implementation despite their uniqueness and criticality. This study proposes that an efficient approach to policy recommendations is through the political and economic analysis (PEA) of these partnerships using public-private partnership (PPP) optics. Unquestionably, these partnerships are representative of the concept of diplomatic transnational public-private partnership (DT-PPP) where infrastructure is procured through the collaboration of public (African governments) and private sector (Chinese state-owned corporations) who provide the managerial, financial, and technical resources for the project implementation. Given the quest for sustainable win-win, this study identifies strategies towards the realization of win-win in the implementation (i.e enablers of win-win) such that fairness and co-benefit, as well as interests, will be achieved. Thus, based on the PEA framework, case scenarios from Ghana and Nigeria using expert interviews identify the criticalities and best practices for the realization of these enablers at the development phase. Findings indicate more effort is required of the public sector (African host countries) in terms of people, structure/institutions, and the implementation processes. Recommendations include improvement of environmental management structures, contract administration procedures, external stakeholders/local community engagement mechanisms, knowledge and technology transfer procedures, and sector-based project operation and maintenance culture and systems. Additionally, actors must have emotional intelligence, good problem-solving abilities, and overall ensure cordial relationships for continued bilateral cooperation.

Charge dynamics in polymeric materials after aged under ac electric field using the pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) technique is reported. The emphasis is placed on charge decay. The charge dynamics of the ac aged additive free low density polyethylene (LDPE) samples under dc bias differ from the sample without ac ageing, indicating changes brought in by ac ageing. It is believed that a slow decay rate of charge in the ac aged sample is related to the formation of deep traps in the material. However, chemical analysis by infrared spectroscope (FTIR) and Raman microscope reveals no significant chemical changes taken place in the bulk of the material after ac ageing. Further experiments on irradiated LDPE have revealed a similar behaviour, i.e. the charge decay is slower in irradiated samples than that of fresh sample. The findings presented clearly indicate that space charge measurement can be used as a diagnostic tool to monitor ageing in polymeric materials.
