유리섬유 시트 보강 아스팔트포장 내구성 증진에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Class Fiber Sheet-reinforced Asphalt Pavement)

  • 국내 아스팔트 포장의 주요파손은 피로균열, 반사균열, 온도균열, 소성변형 등이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 아스팔트포장의 파손을 최소화하기 위해 기존의 아스팔트 포장 층에 포장섬유를 포설, 보강하는 기법이 적용될 수도 있다. 본 연구에서는 포장섬유 아스팔트 포장 시스템을 체계적으로 정립하기 위해 유리섬유 시트로 보강한 아스팔트 포장층을 대상으로 실내시험을 실시하였다. 실내시험은 포장섬유 보강 아스팔트 포장의 균열저항성과 소성변형을 평가하기 위해 휠트래킹 시험과 균열저항성 시험을 수행하여 포장섬유 아스팔트 포장의 소성변형 및 균열 저항성을 분석하였다.

단지내 차도용 투수성 포장의 물순환 효과분석 (An Analysis on the Hydrologic Cycle Effect of Rodway Permeable Pavement in Rasidential Site)

  • In recent years, increases in impervious areas with rapid urbanization and land use changes are causing numerous hydrologic cycle and environmental problems. Impermeable pavement have a various defect such as collection rainwater, decreasing of sliding resistance, and etc. In this study, the hydrologic cycle effect of permeable pavement were analyzed by the experiment and the numerical simulation. The numerical model used was a modified SWMM especially for considering the hydrologic cycle effect of permeable pavement. The parameters of modified SWMM were revised by the experimental results. Also, the effects of runoff quantity reduction are reviewed when permeable pavement is applied to Incheon Cheongna watershed. The hydrologic cycle analysis of Incheon Cheongna watershed, continuous simulations of urban runoff were performed. The analysis results of permeable pavement setup effect on runoff are follows: the surface runoff after permeable pavement setup decreases to 74.35% of the precipitation whereas the surface runoff before permeable pavement setup amounts to 81.38% of the precipitation; the infiltration after permeable pavement setup increases to 15.13% of the precipitation whereas the infiltration before permeable pavement setup amounts to 8.32% of the precipitation.

역학적-경험적 덧씌우기 포장 설계 프로그램 개발 (Development of Mechanistic-Empirical Overlay Pavement Design Program)

  • PURPOSES : Recently, the mechanistic-empirical overlay pavement design program that is linked with Korea Pavement Research Program (KPRP) has been developed. This paper focused on establishing the framework and developing the program for the asphalt overlay design over the existing asphalt concrete pavement. METHODS : The overlay pavement design program developed in this study was investigated to assess the sensitivity to various pavement conditions, such as the damage level and thickness of existing layers. In addition, the actual overlay design on currently performing pavement was carried out as a practical example. RESULTS : From the sensitivity analysis, it was found that the thickness and damage level of existing asphalt layer mostly affect the overlay design results. In addition, under the same condition, the overlay pavement would better perform in cold region. From the overlay design with the actual condition, it is noted that the overlay thickness varies depending on the given condition. CONCLUSIONS : Based on various evaluations, it was concluded that the overlay design program developed in this study is a reliable and reasonable tool to be used in the actual pavement design.

Performance Evaluation of Exposed Aggregate Texturing in Concrete Pavement Based on In-Situ Noise Measurements

  • Environmental noise at high intensities directly affects human health by causing hearing loss. Although scientific evidence currently is not conclusive, noise is suspected of causing or aggravating other diseases. Environmental noise indirectly affects human welfare by interfering with sleep, thought, and conversation. Noise emission from motorized vehicle includes power unit noise, tire/pavement noise and aerodynamic noise. Among them, tire/pavement noise is noise emission from interaction of the tire and road surface when the vehicle cruises over the surface of pavement. In general, portland cement concrete(PCC) pavement is known to create more noise than asphaltic surfaces though it has the advantage of durability and superior surface friction. However, the results of preliminary laboratory test showed exposed aggregate concrete(EAC) has and effect on reducing tire/pavement noise. Based on the laboratory test. pilot construction of exposed aggregate concrete pavement was completed and series of in-situ measurements were conducted for noise analysis including the pass-by noise measurement and the close-proximity method. Conclusively, it is expected that tire/pavement noise represent significant portion of noise levels at higher frequencies and it would be reduced on special textures of pavement such as exposed aggregate concrete.

Vertical vibrations of a bridge based on the traffic-pavement-bridge coupled system

  • When studying the vibration of a suspension bridge based on the traffic-bridge coupled system, most researchers ignored the contribution of the pavement response. For example, the pavement was simplified as a rigid base and the deformation of pavement was ignored. However, the action of deck pavement on the vibration of vehicles or bridges should not be neglected. This study is mainly focused on establishing a new methodology fully considering the effects of bridge deck pavement, probabilistic traffic flows, and varied road roughness conditions. The bridge deck pavement was modeled as a boundless Euler-Bernoulli beam supported on the Kelvin model; the typical traffic flows were simulated by the improved Cellular Automaton (CA) traffic flow model; and the traffic-pavement-bridge coupled equations were established by combining the equations of motion of the vehicles, pavement, and bridge using the displacement and interaction force relationship at the contact locations. The numerical studies show that the proposed method can more rationally simulate the effect of the pavement on the vibrations of bridge and vehicles.

섬유 그리드를 이용한 아스팔트 포장 단면 감소 효과 분석 (Evaluation of The Effects of Fiber Grid Reinforcement on the Thickness Reduction of Asphalt Pavement)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of fiber grid reinforcement on the thickness reduction of asphalt pavement. Test sections were constructed on the national highway to evaluate the structural capacity of asphalt pavement with the reinforced fiber grid and normal asphalt pavement. METHODS : Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) tests were performed to measure the structural capacity of test sections. The loads of the FWD test are 4.1 ton, 8.0 ton, 10.0 ton, and loaded twice, respectively. The test sections consist of a reference asphalt pavement section, an asphalt pavement section reduced with a 5-cm base layer thickness, and a fiber grid reinforced asphalt pavement section reduced with a 5-cm base layer thickness. In addition, strain data was collected using strain gauges installed in the test sections. RESULTS : The results of the FWD tests showed that the deflections of the pavement section reinforced with the fiber grid was reduced by about 14% compared with that of the reference asphalt pavement section. The strain at the bottom of the asphalt surface layer of the pavement section reduced to a 5-cm base thickness and reinforced with a fiber grid was similar to that at the bottom of the asphalt layer of the reference asphalt pavement. CONCLUSIONS : The results of the FWD and strain tests showed the possibility of the pavement thickness reduction by reinforcement with a fiber grid.

콘크리트 포장을 덧씌운 비절삭과 절삭 아스팔트 포장의 공용성 비교 (Comparison of Performance of Non-Mill-and-Overlay and Mill-and-Overlay on Concrete Pavement)

  • PURPOSES : In this study, the pavement condition of non-mill-and-overlay and mill-and-overlay on deteriorated concrete pavement was compared. In addition, the suitable time to perform the initial overlay was investigated. METHODS : The condition of the pavement sections that were not additionally overlaid on non-mill-and-overlay or mill-and-overlay on deteriorated concrete pavements was investigated according to overlay pavement age. The condition of non-mill-and-overlay and mill-and-overlay sections of expressway route 25, which has more information on overlay history than other routes, was compared according to the number of times of overlay. The relation between the concrete pavement condition just before the overlay and the number of times of overlay was investigated for the non-mill-and-overlay and mill-and-overlay sections for which the first overlay was performed in the same year. RESULTS : The pavement condition of the non-mill-and-overlay sections was better than that of the mill-and-overlay sections, showing higher Highway Pavement Condition Index(HPCI) regardless of overlay pavement age. The number of reflection crackings of the non-mill-and-overlay sections was smaller than that of the mill-and-overlay sections. As a result of observing the cores obtained from the overlay sections, the proportion of the deteriorated non-mill-and-overlay sections was smaller than that of the mill-and-overlay sections. The SD measured just before the overlay on the concrete pavement for which additional overlay was not performed was smaller than that for which additional overlay was performed regardless of the milling of the concrete slab surface. The HPCI of the concrete pavement for which overlay was performed just once was higher than that for which overlay was performed more than one time. CONCLUSIONS : Accordingly, it was concluded that the condition of the non-mill-and-overlay sections was better than that of the mill-and-overlay sections. In addition, the better the condition of concrete pavement just before the initial overlay, the longer the duration of the overlay effect.

서울시도 SPI를 활용한 서초구 도로포장상태 평가모형 개발 (Development of Seocho Borough Pavement Condition Evaluation Model based on Seoul Metropolitan SPI)

  • 서울시도의 경우 자치구 관할 도로에 비해 관리상의 중요도에 차이가 있고, 교통량 및 포장두께가 다르며 도로파손으로 인한 포장상태 저하율이 상이하기 때문에 기존 서울시도의 엄격한 관리기준을 자치구도에 적용하는 것은 바람직하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 서초구의 한정된 도로포장 유지보수 예산으로 보다 합리적이고 효율적인 포장상태 평가 및 관리를 위해 서울시도 PMS(Pavement Management System) 체계인 SPI(Seoul Pavement Index) 평가방법에 기반 하여 자치구도 포장평가방안을 제시하였다. 기존 시도SPI의 주요 변수인 균열율(Crack), 소성변형(Rutting), 평탄성(IRI)에 대한 관리기준을 구청 도로관리 기준에 맞도록 완화시키고, 제안한 각각의 포장파손 공용성 모형에 적용하여 포장상태계수를 산정하였으며, 또한, 설계시 공용성과 실제 공용성과의 차이점과 함께 준공 시 도로포장 상태도 반영되도록 수정하였다. 최종적으로 서초구 포장종합평가 모형식은 서울시의 모형식과 동일하게 각각의 공용성능 항목인 균열, 소성변형, 평탄성을 동등한 비율로 설정하여 도로포장의 전체 공용성에 영향을 주도록 설정된 제안 SPI를 개발하였다. 따라서 시도SPI보다 완화된 기준 및 설계와 시공현장상태를 반영한 구도SPI를 활용한다면 보다 합리적인 서초구도 포장의 합리적인 유지보수를 시행할 수 있을 것이다.

HPMS 데이터를 이용한 고속도로 교량 및 뒷채움구간 평탄성 특성 연구 (The Study of the Roughness of the Pavement on the Bridge Deck and Approach Slab using a 5year(2003 to 2007) Pavement Condition Survey Data)

  • 본 연구는 2003년도부터 2007년도까지의 고속도로 포장관리시스템 운영에 의한 포장상태 측정자료를 이용하여 고속도로 교량부 평탄성 불량 구간과 그 원인을 조사 분석하여 도로교량 구간 평탄성을 향상시킬 수 있도록 관리체계를 개선하고 교량평탄성 불량구간이 효과적으로 유지보수 될 수 있도록 하는데 중점을 두었다. 고속도로 포장유지관리 시스템으로부터 추출한 데이터 분석과 이에 대한 현장 검증 결과, 교량구간의 평탄성이 토공부에 비해 상당히 좋지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 그 원인과 개선방안에 대해 살펴보면, 교량구간의 평탄성 불량 원인은 교면포장(접속부 포함)의 조기손상뿐만 아니라 뒷채움부 침하에 의한 접속부 포장의 단차가 주요 원인인 것으로 분석되었다. 이에 따라 교량구간은 현재 정기적으로 시행하고 있는 조사장비에 의한 포장상태 측정과 병행하여 뒷채움부 침하가 원인인 단차를 측정하여 교량구간의 평탄성 불량지점을 효과적으로 개선할 수 있도록 조사 및 평가체계를 수립하였다.

도로포장면과 타이어간의 소음 재현장비의 개발 (Development of Tire/Pavement Noise Simulator)

  • 최근 들어 타이어/노면 소음을 저감하기 위한 다양한 포장공법들에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이러한 저소음 포장공법들을 개발하고자 하는 이유는 도로소음이 고속주행일 경우 도로노면과 타이어에서 발생하는 소음이 지배적이기 때문이다. 대부분의 저소음 포장공법의 핵심연구는 타이어/노면 소음이 노면의 미세조직 및 거시조직의 특성에 영향을 받는다는 점을 고려하여 표층 골재의 입도, 혹은 인위적인 노면조직에 대한 소음을 작게 발생하게 하는 것이다. 이러한 연구에서 어려운 점은 특정한 노면조직 혹은 포장공법에서의 타이어/노면 소음을 평가하기 위해 도로를 건설하고 차량을 주행시켜야 하기 때문에 비용과 시간의 제약을 받는다는 점이다. 따라서 이러한 난점을 극복하고, 다양한 노면조직에서의 소음을 저비용, 단시간에 평가하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 타이어/노면 소음재현장비를 개발하였고, 무타이닝 및 횡방향타이닝 포장에 대하여 타이어/노면 소음을 재현 및 측정을 통하여 개발한 장비의 신뢰성을 검증하였다.
