Objectives : The objective of this study was to revise the modified Blood Stasis Questionnaire II. Methods : This revision focused on refining the Korean literature expression of Blood Stasis Questionnaire II consisting of 30-question questionnaire. Seven external experts and five researchers of Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine reviewed the questionnaire and its protocol, while the addition or deletion of questions and changes in scoring method were not dealt with in this revision. Results : Among thirty questions, four questions were corrected to appropriate expressions. In case of eight questions, explanations in Korean or Chinese were added. Thirteen questions in the phrase were changed in sentence form to unify the whole questionnaire. Conclusions : This study introduces the revised version of the modified Blood Stasis Questionnaire II. It is expected that clinical demand of this questionnaire will increase and it will be used vigorously in blood stasis research.
Background: Pattern identification is a unique diagnostic method of traditional Oriental medicine that has recently been the target of questionnaire-based research. Sasang (four-types) constitutional medicine (SCM) is a practice in traditional Korean medicine that seeks to promote objectivity in diagnostics. This paper attempts to illuminate the relationship between constitutions and the pathogenic factors of pattern identification through questionnaires completed by menopausal women about their symptoms. Methods: From March to October 2012, we examined 291 women from the general population, with ages ranging from 40 to 60 years, applying the Kupperman index, the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire (MENQOL), pattern identification based on the Diagnosis System of Oriental Medicine (DSOM), and SCM. We then analyzed the relationship between constitutional type and pathogenic factors. Results: No significant differences were found in the scores of either the Kupperman index or MENQOL questionnaire in relation to constitutional type. However, in a statistical analysis correlating the DSOM pathogenic factor scores (PFS) with the scores of the Kupperman index and MENQOL vasomotor subscale, heat showed a significant positive correlation with SoYang type (SY) and TaeEum type (TE), but not SoEum type (SE), while insufficiency of yin and insufficiency of yang, as well as blood deficiency, showed a significant positive correlation with the TE and SE types. Conclusion: The pathogenic factors in the menopausal symptoms of middle-aged women, specifically the prominent menopausal symptom of facial flushing, differed significantly according to constitutional type.
Objectives: This study was performed to obtain reference data of traditional Korean medicine diagnostic methods for the practical usage in women infertility. Methods: The study involved 38 female patients of age 20-38 years that had diagnosed of infertility. All the subjects answered to pattern identification questionnaire and Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification (QSCC II). Pattern identification scores and constitution types have been analyzed with variables of infertility factors and age. Statistical analysis was performed by adopting descriptive and inferential tests. Results: In pattern identification questionnaire analysis, the patterns were observed in order of frequency: liver stasis; blood deficiency; kidney-yang deficiency; kidney-yin deficiency; damp-heat; blood stasis; and phlegm. The group, less than 35 years old, had the higher average score of liver stasis (p<0.05). Also, the group with tubal and peritoneal factors, had the higher average score of blood deficiency (p<0.05). In QSCC II analysis, So-yang type had the higher average score of liver stasis, kidney-yang deficiency, and kidney-yin deficiency. So-eum type had the higher average score of liver stasis, kidney-yang deficiency, kidney-yin deficiency, and blood deficiency. While, Tae-um type had the higher average score of liver stasis and phlegm. Conclusions: We would accumulate the clinical data for the practical usage of traditional Korean medicine diagnostic methods in women infertility.
Objective : This study aimed to develop and preliminary validate the Mibyeong Questionnaire (MQ) based on Deficiency-Stagnation pattern, which was report of a person's health condition that comes directly from the person. Method : The first phage of developing a MQ was to generate and exhaustive list of all MQ issue that are relevant to the domain of interest, using literature research and expert group discussions. Through those steps, we established MQ with 33 items divided into two parts: 21-item deficiency pattern and 12-item stagnation pattern. The second phage, we examined the preliminary tests of reliability and validity including the 16-item Deficiency of MQ (16D-MQ), with data (n=1,890) already collected on the Korean medicine data center in KIOM. Results : Exploratory factor analysis revealed three factors of the 16D-MQ. These factors were fatigue(Qi, 氣); psychic and physical elements(Shen, 神); and skin and hair(Jing, 精). Cronbach's coefficient alpha was 0.876 and the intraclass correlation coefficients was 0.368-0.538. In support of criteria validity, the 16D-MQ was weakly correlated with EQ-5D and physicians's opinion, but it was acceptable. Conclusion : The MQ shows that it has an appropriate level of internal consistency and validity. We think further study to reveal its reliability and validity, including stagnation pattern as well as deficiency pattern, is needed.
The purpose of this study is to recognize about lingerie company's education and pattern-making actual conditions. This study used a questionnaire method. Respondent of survey is designers who work in exist lingerie company. The collected data were statistically processed using SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) for technical statistical analysis, correlation analysis. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Most of lingerie designers educated lingerie design, pattern and textiles etc. after entering a company and satisfaction 57.3% about education has satisfaction of intergrade. 2. Designer's 87.8% has satisfaction more than intergrade about own pattern-making technology and work career is high, satisfaction about pattern-making technology is high. 3. Correlation was expose that is in lingerie education availability and optimum level arrival period of pattern-making ability before entering a company. In case take lingerie education before entering a comany, thought that optimum level arrival period of pattern-making ability is shorter. 4. Most of lingerie company designers used flat pattern-making method and draping method. 5. There is correlation between work career and using the basic pattern. Work career was expose that make and use only own basic pattern in case is more than 3 years. 6. Contents about deepening pattern-making technology are most by 92.2% to contents of lingerie reeducation.
The purpose of this study was to make suitabl skirts pattern for pregnant woman on the basis of their physical characteristics. 9 women who were 3,5,8 and 10 months pregnant were measured using Martin's anthropometric instrument on 12 items and sliding gauge on 4 items. The measures were analyzed statistically. Skirts pattern was developed based on the measurements of the essential items for skirts construction. The sensory evaluation was applied to estimate fittness and comfort in Rim's method skirt pattern. The items which showed a remarkable and significant increase were anterior waist circumference, anterior waist height and abdominal circumference. The anterior part of waist and abdorminal sections projected forward gradually. According to statistical analysis on the questionnaire, all the items showed significant difference between the new and the Rim's method skirts pattern with the new pattern having higher scores.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to research the demographical and gynecologic characteristics, quality of life, and analyze the pattern identification in female patients with cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet. Methods: 112 participants were recruited from May 2018 to April 2019 from three korean medical hospitals. The data was composed of general characteristics, degree of coldness of hands and feet, gynecological questionnaire, score of WHOQOL-BREF and pattern identification. We divided data into 2 groups: The group of patients who meet the criteria for diagnosis of coldness on feet and the group of patients who meet the criteria for diagnosis of coldness on feet and hands. We tried to compare data by groups using Excel 2016 for windows and SPSS for windows (Ver. 23.0). Results: Throughout the study, we found differences between 2 groups in weight, body mass index (BMI), VAS score of cold hypersensitivity on feet, temperature of PC8, ST32, and pattern identification. Conclusions: After the study, we confirmed that even though both groups suffer from cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet, they show clinical differences in each group and differences in pattern identification.
