Background: Many authors have evaluated the post-reduction result of nasal bone fracture through patient satisfaction or postoperative complications. However, these results are limited because they are subjective. The aim of this study was to correlate an objective operation result with patient satisfaction and postoperative complications according to the type of nasal bone fractures. Methods: Our study included 313 patients who had isolated nasal bone fractures and had undergone a closed reduction. Postoperative outcomes were evaluated objectively using computed tomographic (CT) images, while patient satisfaction was evaluated one month after the operation. The correlation of the operation result with patient satisfaction was then evaluated. Results: The correlation between the operation result and patient satisfaction was highest for the lateral impact group type I (LI) type of fracture and lowest for the comminuted fracture group (C) type of fracture. However, there were no statistically significant differences in correlation between the overall result and patient satisfaction by fracture type. The complication rate of lateral impact group type II (LII), C, and frontal impact group type I (FI) fractures were statistically significantly higher than that of frontal impact group type II (FII) and LI fractures. There were no statistically significant relationships between the prevalence of complications and septal fracture or deviation according to the fracture type. In the total group, however, there was a statistically significant difference in complication rate by septal fracture. Conclusion: We found that the CT outcomes correlated with patient satisfaction. The complication rate of LII, C, and FI fractures were statistically significantly higher than that of FII and LI fractures. Septal fracture/deviation increased the postoperative complication in the total group.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify patient satisfaction about nursing care provided by Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) using the La Monica-Oberst Patient Satisfaction Scale (LOPSS). Methods: The investigation was conducted including 263 patients who experienced care provided by 41 APNs at a tertiary hospital in Korea. Patient satisfaction with nursing care was measured using 41-item LOPSS. We analyzed the data using descriptive statistics, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. Results: Overall patient satisfaction with APN care was high. The LOPSS scores for APNs were 52.26 for good impression, 61.75 for interpersonal support, 81.32 for dissatisfaction and 195.93 for total score. "APNs talk down to me" was a reverse coding item which demonstrated the highest score for patient satisfaction. Among patients' characteristics, age and type of main caregiver were independent factors related to patients's satisfaction. Among APN's characteristics, work experience was significantly related to patients' satisfaction. Conclusion: This study identified patient satisfaction regarding nursing care provided by APNs. High patient satisfaction in APN services demonstrated APNs' contribution to quality improvement in health care services. It is recommended that various outcome research about APN service needs to be performed.

Purpose: This study was to examine patient satisfaction related to an increase in nursing personnel staffing. Methods: The subjects of this study were 317 hospitalized patients in the general wards of a medical center in Kyungki Do. Data were collected at 2 and 8 months following an increase in nursing personnel in the hospital. Patient Satisfaction Scale developed by Lee(1986) and revised by Seo(2000) was used. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ${\chi}2$ test, and one way ANOVA. Results: Although the patient satisfaction scores at 8 months were higher than the scores at 2 months, there were no significant differences in patient satisfaction between the two periods Among the patient satisfaction subscales, the scores of the education subscale at 8 months were marginally higher than at 2 months (t=-1.97, p=.050). Conclusions: Adequate nursing staffing is important in patient satisfaction and patient outcome. The results provide data that suggests a positive direction for nursing intervention and development of nursing professionals.

The Primary Care Patient Measure of Safety (PC-PMOS) is a measure of safety that allows patients to evaluate contributing factors related to patient safety in primary care. This study aimed to examine which questionnaire items of the PC-PMOS could be used in Korean dental institutions. A survey of the Korean translation of the PC-PMOS, a self-reported questionnaire, was conducted in August 2022 by 400 adults who had used dental-care services within the last three years. Of the 77 items, 34 were selected using principal component analysis and two experts' evaluations based on face validity. Five domains were identified from factor analysis: patient centeredness, patient information update, complaint processing, communication, and information about the complaint process. The Cronbach's alpha of the data was 0.913, indicating high reliability. As a result of the generalized multiple regression analysis, regression coefficients were not statistically significant, except for household income. This indicated that there was no bias in the patient safety scores of dental institutions evaluated by patients within the range of independent variables used in this study. The five domains with 34 items identified in this study suggested the factors that contribute to the safety of patients who used dental care services in Korea. However, validation of this study result is still important to refine questionnaires suitable for dental institutions in Korea so as to further improve the quality of dental care.
Purpose: Prader-Willi Syndrome(PWS) is a congenital chromosomal disorder characterized by compulsive and early development of obesity. Obesity is identified as the main cause of morbidity in PWS individuals. Also, body change for rapid weight gain, such as gynecomastia, can cause considerable functional and psychological trauma, We corrected successfully gynecomastia in PWS patient, so we reported our experience of surgical method and literature reviews. Methods: A 16-year-old male patient presented with gynecomastia. He was diagnosed as with PWS at pediatric department. We performed reduction mammaplasty using inferior pedicle and Wise pattern. Excision amount was 1350g in right breast and 1415g in left breast. Also, we managed upper and lateral fullness of breast with liposuction. Results: There were no specific complications, such as hematoma, infection, nipple-areola complex necrosis, and so on. Also, aesthetic and functional outcome was acceptable Conclusion: We experienced successful correction of gynecomastia in PWS patient, and found advantages of conventional reduction mammaplasty using inferior pedicle and Wise pattern at this specific situation.
Objectives: Advanced malignant melanoma (MM) has a poor prognosis, with an expected 2-year survival rate of 10 to 20%. It has long been recognized as an immunogenic tumor, and is worse for elderly patients. Many studies have suggested that herbal treatments improve immune functions, but few clinical studies have reported on this topic. Patients and History: We present two cases of female patients (72 and 77 years old, respectively) with advanced MM. The 72-year-old female patient was, at first, diagnosed with MM with multiple bone metastases. She received resection of the primary lesion, but refused further chemotherapy. The 77-year-old female patient was diagnosed with cutaneous MM of the left heel, with suspicion of sentinel node lymphadenopathy; however, she also refused any conventional treatment due to old age. Course of Therapy and Results: Both patients were exclusively treated with standardized allergen-removed Rhus verniciflua stokes (aRVS) extract combined with Bojungikki-tang (BT, Bu-Zhong-Yi-Qi-Tang in Chinese or Hochu-ekki-to in Japanese). Both patients are still alive and doing well (Feb. 2014), demonstrating that the 72-year-old patient has lived for 27 months and the 77-year-old patient has lived for 31 months without disease progression since the aRVS and BT administration. Conclusion: We suggest that the combination of aRVS extract and BT could be a candidate for overcoming the cancer's immunoediting process especially for elderly MM patients intolerant of conventional treatment.
The intracranial hemorrhage in regions remote from the site of initial operations is unusual but may present as fatal surgical complication. We report a rare case of multiple, sequential, remote intracranial hematomas after cranioplasty in a patient who did not have any prior risk factors. A 51-years-old man was transferred to the hospital after a head trauma. The brain computed tomography (CT) revealed acute subdural hemorrhage on the right hemisphere with prominent midline shifting. After performing decompressive craniectomy and hematoma removal, the patient recovered without any complications. However, the patient showed neurological deterioration immediately after cranioplasty, which was done three months after the first surgery. There was extensive hemorrhage in the posterior fossa remote from the site of the initial operation site. The brain CT taken soon after removing this hematoma evacuation displayed large epidural hematoma on the left hemisphere. This case represents posterior fossa hemorrhage after supratentorial procedure and sequential delayed hematoma on the contralateral supratentorial region thus seems very rare surgical complications. Despite several possible pathogenetic mechanisms for such remote hematomas, there are usually no clear cut relationships with each case as in our patient. However, for the successful outcome, prompt evaluation and intensive management seem mandatory.

In this case report, we investigated the effects of robot-assisted gait therapy in a chronic stroke patient using motor assessment and gait analysis. A patient who suffered from the right hemiparesis following the left corona radiata and basal ganglia infarction received 30 minutes of robot-assisted gait therapy, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Outcome was measured using Motoricity index(MI), Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA), modified motor assessment scale(MMAS), isometric torque, body tissue composition, 10-meter gait speed and gait analysis. After robot-assisted gait therapy, the patient showed improvement in motor functions measured by MI, FMA, MMAS, isometric torque, skeletal muscle mass, 10-meter gait speed. In gait analysis, cadence, single support time, double support time, step length, walking speed improvement in after robot-assisted gait therapy. The results of this study showed that robot-assisted gait therapy is considered to facilitate locomotor recovery of the chronic hemiparetic stroke patient.

Subjective voice evaluation is necessary and important to assess the voice disorders in addition to objective voice evaluation. Subjective voice evaluation is divided into examiner and examinee subjective voice assessment. The examiner assessment represents perceptual judgment to the patient's voice such as GRBAS scale, Buffalo voice profile, consensus auditory perceptual evaluation of voice (CAPE- V) and so on. The examinee assessment consists of indirect method including voice handicap index (VHI), voice outcome survey (VOS), voice symptom scale (VoiSS), voice related quality of life (V-ROQL) and direct method which is called patient's self-subjective voice rating. This review article describes a general rule, advantages and pitfalls about GRBAS scale, VHI and patient's self-subjective voice rating which are presently most representative voice assessment tools.

The purpose of this study is to report the effects of electroacupuncture and bee venom (BV) acupuncture for a patient suffering with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. There was a one patient who was diagnosed as idiopathic peroneal neuropathy and tibial neuropathy received electroacupuncture and BV acupuncture at acupoints on peroneal and tibial nerve pathway. The evaluation of clinical outcome was done by range of motion (ROM), manual muscle test (MMT), perimeter of lower leg, neuropathy pain scale (NPS). After treatment, the patient showed improvement in ROM and MMT. The patient's perimeter of lower leg was increased, NPS was decreased. This study suggests that the treatment of acupoints on the damaged nerve pathways could be an effective treatment for peripheral neuropathy, although further studies will be needed.
