Cranioplasty is performed using autograft and allograft materials on patients to whom craniectomy was applied previously due to the facts that, this region is open to trauma and the scalp makes irritation and pressure onto the brain paranchyma causing brain atrophy and convulsions. Dramatical improvement of neurological deficits, control of convulsions and partial prevention of cerebral atrophy are achieved after these operations. One of the most important complications of cranioplasty is late infection. Here, we report a 43-year-old male patient admitted with the history of purulant discharge from the right temporal incission site for one year to whom cranioplasty had been performed with allograft material 20 days after craniectomy which had been performed in 1989. Allograft cranioplasty material was removed and cranioplasty was performed using new allograft material with the diagnosis of late cranioplasty infection.
The purpose of the study was to identify the effect of structured patients education had on prevention of osteoporosis, with fracture and the resulting of life style changes in patients. In this study, a non equivalent control group pre and a post test design was employed. Data were collected through an interview process using questionnaires from April to December of 1999. The subjects, consisting of 59 patients with fractures and over 40 years of age, were diagnosed in K University Hospital. This study tested the patients knowledge at three times. The times were before the program 2 weeks into the program, and 6 months after education program. Life style change related to prevention of osteoporosis was shown twice (before and 6 months after the education program) in the experimental group, and control group went without it. The instruments used for this study were developed by literature review according to a reliability test. Data was analyzed using X2 test and t test to determine similarities between the experimental and control groups. The hypothesis was tested using repeated measures of ANOVA, t-test and Pearson correlation coefficients. The results of the study were summarized as follows: 1. The first hypothesis was accepted: a higher level of knowledge about osteoporosis was found in experimental groups who received education than to the control group during the period (F=19.82, p=.0001). 2. The second hypothesis was accepted: a higher level of life style changes about osteoporosis on experimental group were recorded than as compared to control group (t=3.55, p=.001). 3. The third hypothesis was accepted: the higher the knowledge about osteoporosis the higher the level of performance of life style changes about prevention of osteoporosis (r=.600, p=.0001). In conclusion, structured patient education in patient with fractures improved the level of knowledge about osteoporosis and more likely undergo of life style changes 6 months after the education program. Also reeducation would be needed 6 months after program ends. That is structured patient education in pamphlet form would be very effective in nursing intervention that may to result in life style changes. Therefore further research is needed to reinforce the education material and to generalize the education effect.
This study has been attempted to set up the strategies of the nursing which can promote the activity performance for early rehabilitation for the patients by examining the effect of the structured patient education on the early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance of the C.V.A patients. The study method has been done by investigating the experiment group and control group in advance through the question papers and interview and observation on 65 patients who had been hospitalized at oriental medicine hospital of K Medical Center from July 1st 1995 to the end of Sep, 1995. The analysis of the collected material had been done for the homogeneity test in which general characters of experiment group and control group had been tested by X²and the homogeneity test of ADL by t-test. To test the hypothesis the t-test had been given for the difference of the early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance between the two groups and the correlation between early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance had been tested by Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The result of the test of the hypothesis is as the below. 1 The 1st hypothesis “The experiment group which had received the structured education should be higher in the early rehabilitation knowledge than the control group” was supported(t=4.45. p=.000). 2. The 2nd hypothesis “The experiment group which received the structured education should be higher in the early rehabilitation activity performance than the control group”was supported(t=2.11, p=.036). 3. The 3rd hypothesis “The higher the early rehabilitation knowledge of the patient the higher the activity performance degree” was rejected (r=.1546, p=.219). In conclusion, the patients who received the structured education showed the increase in the degree of early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance, so it has been judged that education has been prerequisite in increasing the knowledge and activity performance of early rehabilitation.
Objectives : Patients with neck tumor and their family need every information about the disease. Especially, the size and location are confusing with verbal information. With the aid of CT, the problem had some answer, but it needs some medical education. We would like to know the usefullness of 3D reconstructed images in patient education about the disease. Material and Methods : Neck CT data were collected from 10 patients with various neck tumors and converted to 3D reconstructed images. Understanding of the patients about the size and location of tumors were rated from questionaires using axial CT images and 3D images. Results : Understanding score about 3D images were greater than that of CT images(p<0.006). Conclusion : 3D reconstructed images of CT could give the patients more real visual information about the disease.

The purpose of this research is to confirm the degree of awareness, knowledge and attitude for the safety management of patients in elderly care facilities, to investigate the factors that affect the safety performance of patients by nursing caregivers, and to provide basic material for the development of educational programs for strengthening performance. The research target audience was 142 nursing caregivers working in the G metropolitan city and S city elderly care facilities, and the data collected from 7/10/2020 to 7/28/2020, were analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The ability of a nursing caregiver to perform patient safety is increasing as a result of higher education, higher patient safety awareness, and also more positive attitude towards patient safety. The major factors that affect the safety performance of patients by nursing caregivers were attitude toward patient safety, patient safety awareness, and the amount of participation in patient safety education. It's explanatory power was 26.9%. Based on the results of this research, we propose a study to confirm the positive effects of patient safety consciousness and attitude by confirming the education program completed by nursing caregivers and systematizing the education method and design in the education program of nursing caregivers.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of structured patient education on knowledge of Hepatitis B type and behavior about self care in chronic hepatitis B patients, and to fine the strategy to promote their self care behavior. The research design was quasi-experiment research. The study method had been done by investigating the experimental group and control group through the questionnaire on 50 patients who had been out patient medicine department in U university hospital in Ulsan from september 1st 1997 to the end of October, 1997. The analysis of the collected material had been done for the homogeneity test in which general characterics of experimental group and control group had been tested by $x^2-test$ and the homogeneity test of the knowledge of hepatitis B type and self care behavior before by t-test. To test the hypothesis the t-test had been given for the difference of the knowledge of hepatitis B type and self care behavior between the two groups and the correlation between knowledge of hepatitis B type and self care behavior performance had been tested by Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results as follows : 1. The 1st hypothesis 'The experimental group which received the structured education should be higher in the knowledge of hepatitis B type than the control group' was supported(t=-6.25, P=.000). 2. The 2nd hypothesis 'The experimental group which received the structured education whould be higher in the self care behavior performance than the control group' was supported(t=-5.15, P=.000). 3. The 3rd hypothesis 'The higher the knowledge of hepatitis B type in the patient the higher the self care behavior performance degree' was supported(r=.492, P=.001). In conclusion, the patients who received the structured education showed the increase in the degree of knowledge of hepatitis B type and self care behavior performance. so the structured education had been judged the nursing intervention had been prerequisite in increasing knowledge of hepatitis B type and self care behavior performance of the chronic hepatitis B patients.
In the personalized medicine era, utilizing paraffin blocks in pathology archives for investigating human diseases has come into the limelight. This archived material with clinical data will reduce the research time and could prevent new patient recruitment to obtain tissue for research. However, the clause indicating the necessity of consent from human material providers in the Korean Bioethics and Safety Act has made the Institutional Review Board (IRB) deny permission to use paraffin blocks for research without consent, and alternatively to get the same before starting an experiment. Written consent may be waived off in studies using paraffin blocks with anonymous status or conditions not linked to personal information by applying the paragraph 3, article 16 of the current Bioethics and Safety Act. Also, the IRB should recommend researchers to preserve the blocks as medical records of patients in long-term archives.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate the effects that the structured pamphlet and education through tablets regarding the daily life management and disease nursing education program has towards pneumonia patients in compliance, and self-efficacy. Methods: This study used the quasi-experimental study design based upon the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. A total of 100 patients-50 patients who were hospitalized February 2020 as the control group and 50 patients who were hospitalized March 2020 as the experimental group - were used as material for the statistical analysis. These data were analyzed with a significance level of p< .05 using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Results: The patients' compliance, and self-efficacy had no significance difference between the two previous scores, meaning homogeneity in the two groups. Through verifying the experimental group who had disease and daily-life managing nursing education will have higher scores in compliance (t= 20.95, p< .001), and self-efficacy (t= 17.24, p< .001) than the control group who had not received those education, were statistically significantly different leading to all hypothesis being supported. Conclusion: For improving pneumonia patients' compliance, the methods should be simple, easy to understand, effective in numerous clinical situations, require constant education and reinforcement, and periodic nursing education program.
Extravasation of contrast material is a not infrequent complication of enhanced imaging studies and large volume extravasation may result in severe damage. Subcutaneous extravasation of the radiographic contrast medium is one of the complications of the contrast medium-enhanced procedures. Automated power injectors enable the contrast material to be delivered at a uniform high-flow-rate and as a nonfragmented bolus, and this is essential for many contrast material enhanced CT(computed tomography) applications. The major risk associated with the use of automated power injectors is the well known complication of contrast material extravasation at the injection site. Automated injection of CT contrast material can produce the compartment syndrome. Selection of the nonionic contrast material after careful evaluation of the intravenous administration site and monitoring of the patient during the use of a mechanical power injector may help minimize or prevent extravasation injuries. Early identification is important and conservative management is effective in most cases. Prevention of these injuries with the education of radiological technologist remains the ultimate aim.
