A Path Generation Algorithm of Autonomous Robot Vehicle By the Sensor Platform and Optimal Controller Based On the Kinematic Model

  • In this paper, path generation using the sensor platform is proposed. The sensor platform is composed two electric motors which make panning and tilting motions. An algorithm fur a real path form and an obstacle length is realized using a scanning algorithm to rotating the sensors on the sensor platform. An ARV (Autonomous Robot Vehicle) is able to recognize the given path by adapting this algorithm. In order for the ARV to navigate the path flexibly, a kinematic model needed to be constructed. The kinematic model of the ARV was reformed around its body center through a relative velocity relationship to controllability, which derives from the nonholonomic characteristics. The optimal controller that is based on tile kinematic model is operated purposefully to track a reference vehicle's path. The path generation algorithm is composed of two parks. On e part is the generating path pattern, and the other is used to avoid an obstacle. The optimal controller is used for tracking the reference path which is generated by recognizing the path pattern. Results of simulation show that this algorithm for an ARV is sufficient for path generation by small number of sensors and for low cost controller.

  • In this paper, we propose a 3D LiDAR sensor-based costmap generation and path planning algorithm using it for reliable autonomous flight in complex indoor environments. 3D path planning is essential for reliable operation of UAVs. However, existing grid search-based or random sampling-based path planning algorithms in 3D space require a large amount of computation, and UAVs with weight constraints require reliable path planning results in real time. To solve this problem, we propose a method that divides a 3D space into several 2D spaces and a path planning algorithm that considers the distance to obstacles within each space. Among the paths generated in each space, the final path (Best path) that the UAV will follow is determined through the proposed objective function, and for this purpose, we consider the rotation angle of the 2D space, the path length, and the previous best path information. The proposed methods have been verified through autonomous flight of UAVs in real environments, and shows reliable obstacle avoidance performance in various complex environments.

프로펠러 블레이드의 형상설계 및 CNC 공구경로 생성 (Parametric Shape Design and CNC Tool Path Generation of a Propeller Blade)

  • This paper presents shape design, surface construction, and cutting path generation for the surface of marine ship propeller blades. A propeller blade should be designed to satisfy performance constraints that include operational speed which impacts rotations per minutes, stresses related to deliverable horst power, and the major length of the marine ship which impacts the blade size and shape characteristics. Primary decision variables that affect efficiency in the design of a marine ship propeller blade are the blade diameter and the expanded area ratio. The blade design resulting from these performance constraints typically consists of sculptured surfaces requiring four or five axis contoured machining. In this approach a standard blade geometry description consisting of blade sections with offset nominal points recorded in an offset table is used. From this table the composite Bezier surface geometry of the blade is created. The control vertices of the Hazier surface patches are determined using a chord length fitting procedure from tile offset table data. Cutter contact points and path intervals are calculated to minimize travel distance and production time while maintaining a cusp height within tolerance limits. Long path intervals typically generate short tool paths at the expense of increased however cusp height. Likewise, a minimal tool path results in a shorter production time. Cutting errors including gouging and under-cut, which are common errors in machining sculptured surfaces, are also identified for both convex and concave surfaces. Propeller blade geometry is conducive to gouging. The result is a minimal error free cutting path for machining propeller blades for marine ships.

  • [1] There are systematical errors associated with ionospheric influence in retrieving key atmospheric parameters from radio occultation (RO) soundings. In order to obtain better-quality retrievals, we develop a new method, hereafter called National Central University Radio Occultation (NCURO) scheme, to reduce the ionospheric influence. The excess phase is divided into two parts, namely geometric excess length and path excess length (excess length along ray path due to refractivity effect). An excess phase equation is presented and implemented in the NCURO scheme Whose performance is evaluated through comparisons with model simulation and experimental data. The model simulation is based on the use of the ionospheric model 002001 and atmospheric model NRLMSISE-OO. Results show that the NCURO scheme significantly reduces the ionospheric influence at altitudes above 70 km as does the scheme presented in the literature, and provides better corrections for the atmospheric profile.   • A magnetic levitation control system is nonlinear and very unstable. Thus there should be a stabilizing compensation network and a feedback path. Due to the levitation control a noncontact photoresistor sensor is generally used. One photocell provides a certain amount of variation in length by the ball shadow casted on the cell surface. Furthermore at the boundary of the cell, the linearity of sensitivity deteriorates severely. To overcome the constraints of the length and linearity, an efficient sensor array is deviced and applied in the feedback path of a large-gap magnetic levitation control system. A number of CdS photocells and a summing circuit of the sensor output signals are used for a sensor array. The levitation length of a ball and the transient performances are main objectives of the large-gap suspension system using the sensor array.

Shortest Path Problems:A Parametric Study

  • Two important sensitivity issues over shortest path problems have been discussed. One is the problem of updating shortest paths when nodes are added and when the lengths of some arcs are increased or decreased. The other is the problem of calculating arc tolerances, that is the maximum increase of decrease in the length of a single arc without changing a given optimal tree. In this paper, assuming that there exists a parameter of interest whose perturbation causes the simultaneous changes in arc lengths, we find the invariance condition on these simultaneous changes such that the shortest path between two specified nodes remains unchanged.

  • Passive type mufflers installed on every car haute inherent problem of lowering engine power and fuel efficiency caused by backpressure which is byproduct of complex internal structure. Recent improvements like installing a calve to change exhaust gas path depending on power requirement and rpm have only marginally improved performance. Tremendous amount of recent research works on active exhaust noise control have failed to commercialize because of numerous physical and economical reasons. In this paper, a unique seal-active muffler using difference of transmission paths is presented. In this system exhaust pipe is divided into two and joined again downstream. Exhaust noise is reduced by destructive interference when two-divided noise join again with transmission paths'difference which is half of the wavelength of a main noise frequency. One divided path has a sliding mechanism to change length thereby transmission path length difference is adjusted to entwine rpm change. The proposed system has minimal backpressure and does not need a secondary sound source like a speaker so it can overcome many problems of failed active noise control methods. We have verified proposed system's superior performance by simulation and comparison experiment with passive mufflers.

  • The behavior of walking involves our action of seeing things. It is the intention of this research that the cognitive process of perceiving things along the path can affect the way we sense the length of the journey. The theory generally accepted in this line of thought is the 'feature accumulation theory'. It assumes that if the journey includes many objects or memorable features, then our memory recalls that journey much farther than it really was. This study set up a real-life experiment by asking university students about their mental memory of the two different routes in the campus. One is a longer path that has not much to look at except trees and the other a shorter path yet with many buildings, sign boards and street furnitures. The subjects processed their mental image in the brain based on their experience. They showed a strong tendency that the path with more features were remembered longer while that with less features shorter. More interestingly, it was found that as their experience increases, they become more accurate about the exact length of the questioned paths. The result corroborates the theory that human perception of space is based on the topological understanding of surroundings rather than geometric understanding.

FRP의 원통형 압력 용기제작을 위한 필라멘트 밴드의 감김 시뮬레이션 (Filament Band Winding Simulation for Fiber Reinforced Cylindrical Pressure Vessels)

  • The filament winding method is widely used to manufacture products of fiber reinforced plastics (FRP), such as high pressure vessels, launch tubes and pipes. For reducing winding time, the method of winding by filament band which consists of several filament fibers is used. NC winding machine is used for precise winding and NC path is needed. Before filament winding, users should verify that winding path which presented by a line is appropriate by filament winding simulation. Also, the used length of each filament is different. So, if the peak filament exhausted, it causes to stop manufacturing. In this research, we developed software which visualizes 3D graphic of filament band winding path and simulates winding process on real time. And we proposed algorithm about calculation of each filament usage. We use geodesic equation for generating filament band surface and calculating the usage length of each filament.

복수 최단 경로 문제의 새로운 해법 연구 (A Study on the New Algorithm for Shortest Paths Problem)

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the K Shortest Paths Problem which is developed with a Double Shortest Arborescence and an inward arc breaking method. A Double Shortest Arborescence is made from merging a forward shortest arborescence and a backward one with Dijkstra algorithm. and shows us information about each shorter path to traverse each arc. Then K shorter paths are selected in ascending order of the length of each short path to traverse each arc, and some paths of the K shorter paths need to be replaced with some hidden shorter paths in order to get the optimal paths. And if the cross nodes which have more than 2 inward arcs are found at least three times in K shorter path, the first inward arc of the shorter than the Kth shorter path, the exposed path replaces the Kth shorter path. This procedure is repeated until cross nodes are not found in K shorter paths, and then the K shortest paths problem is solved exactly. This algorithm are computed with complexity o($n^3$) and especially O($n^2$) in the case K=3.
