As the use of various application services utilizing Web and IoT and the need for large amounts of data management expand accordingly, the importance of efficient data expression and exchange scheme and data query processing is increasing. JSON, characterized by its simplicity, is being used in various fields as a format for data exchange and data storage instead of XML, which is a standard data expression and exchange language on the Web. This means that it is important to develop indexing and query processing techniques to effectively access and search large amounts of data expressed in JSON. Therefore, in this paper, we modeled JSON data with a hierarchical structure in a tree form, and proposed indexing and query processing using the path concept. In particular, we designed an index structure using a suffix array widely used in text search and introduced simple and complex path-based JSON data query processing methods.
The XML is the new standard fir data representation and exchange on the Internet. In this paper, we describe a new approach for evaluating a path-oriented query against XML document. In our approach, we propose the Parallel Match Indexing Fabric to speed up evaluation of path-oriented query using path signature and design the parallel match algorithm to perform a match process between a path signature of input query and path signatures of elements stored in the database. To construct a structure of the parallel match indexing, we first make the binary tie for all path signatures on an XML document and then which trie is transformed to the Parallel Match Indexing Fabric. Also we use the Parallel Match Indexing Fabric and a parallel match algorithm for executing a search operation of a path-oriented query. In our proposed approach, Time complexity of the algorithm is proportional to the logarithm of the number of path signatures in the XML document.

As a standard query language to search XML data, XQuery and XPath were proposed by W3C. By widely using XQuery and XPath languages, recent researches focus on the development of query processing algorithm and data structure for efficiently processing XML query with the enormous XML database system. Recently, when processing XML path expressions, the concept of the structural join which may determine the structural relationship between XML elements, e.g., ancestor-descendant or parent-child, has been one of the dominant XPath processing mechanisms. However, structural joins which frequently occur in XPath query processing require high cost. In this paper, we propose a new structural join algorithm, called SISJ, based on our structured index, called SI, in order to process XPath queries efficiently. Experimental results show that our algorithm performs marginally better than previous ones. However, in the case of high recursive documents, it performed more than 30% by the pruning feature of the proposed method.
Theses days, a number of data over the Internet are represented using XML because of a virtue of XML. In proportion to the increase of XML data, query processing techniques are required that support quickly and efficiently the diverse queries to search the useful information on XML documents. But, up to now, the researches handling queries for XML data are methodologies focusing on how to process regular path expressions. Therefore, we have developed a new genealogy-based indexing technique to solve various queries such as not only regular path expression but also simple path expression, path expression referencing other elements, and so on. Also, we have applied this technique on object-relational model and evaluated the performance for many documents and various query types. The result shows improved performance in comparison with the other storage techniques.
XML documents found over internet are generally fairly irregular and hove no fixed schema, The SQL and OQL are not suitable for query processing in XML documents, So, there are many researches about schema extraction and query language for XML documents, We propose a schema extraction method using the frequency of label path in XML documents, Our proposed method produces multi-level schemas and those are useful for query processing.
Recently, many XML document management systems using the advantage of RDBMS have been actively developed for the storage, processing and retrieval of XML documents. However, fractional pattern-matching query such as the LIKE operations cannot take the advantage of the index of RDBMS because these operations have deteriorated retrieval performance through its inefficient comparison processing. The hierarchical XML storage technique which stores XML documents in RDBMS efficiently, and the path inverted index technique are proposed in this paper. It regards the element of an XML document as a keyword, and focuses on organizing a posting file with path identifiers and sequences to reduce the retrieval time of path based query. Through simulations, our methods have shown about 60% better performance than the conventional method using RDBMS in searching.
In this paper, we propose an efficient data management scheme for path queries and containment queries which are occurred frequently. The proposed data management scheme considers a change of the containment of products during a transport and supports a path of changed products by representing a path of various containments. Also, the compression utilizing the structure of supply chain reduces the stored data volumes. As a result, our method outperforms the existing methods in terms of storage efficiency and query processing time.

The unstructured and semi-structured big data in social network poses new challenges in query retrieval. This requirement needs to be met by introducing quality retrieval time measures like indexing. Due to the huge volume of data storage, there originate the need for efficient index algorithms to promote query processing. However, conventional algorithms fail to index the huge amount of frequently obtained information in real time and fall short of providing scalable indexing service. In this paper, a new LIndex algorithm, which is a heuristic on Lucene is built on Neo4jHA architecture that holds the social network Big data. LIndex is a flexible and simplified adaptive indexing scheme that ascendancy decomposed shortest paths around term neighbors as basic indexing unit. This newfangled index proves to be effectual in query space pruning of graph database Neo4j, scalable in index construction and deployment. A graph query is processed and optimized beyond the traditional Lucene in a time-based manner to a more efficient path method in LIndex. This advanced algorithm significantly reduces query fetch without compromising the quality of results in time. The experiments are conducted to confirm the efficiency of the proposed query retrieval in Neo4j graph NoSQL database.

Index structures that are based on sequence matching for XPath processing such as ViST, PRIX and LCS-TRIM have recently been proposed to reduce the search time of XML documents. However, ViST can cause a lot of unnecessary computation and I/O when processing structural joint queries because its numbering scheme is not optimized. PRIX and LCS-TRIM require much processing time for matching XML data trees and queries. In this paper, we propose a novel index structure that solves the problems of ViST and improves the performance of PRIX and LCS-TRIM. Our index structure provides the minimum sequence matching scheme to efficiently process structural queries. Finally, to verify the superiority of the proposed index structure with the minimum sequence matching scheme, we compare our index structure with ViST, PRIX and LCS-TRIM in terms of query processing of a single path or of a branching path including wild-cards ('*' and '//' ).
Recently, caching for the database-backed web applications has received much attention. The results of frequent queries could be cached for repeated reuse or for efficient processing of the relevant queries. Since the emergence of XML as a standard for data exchange on the web, today's web applications are to retrieve information from the remote XML sources across the network, and thus it is desirable to maintain the XML query results in the cache for the web applications. In this paper, we describe implementation of an XML query processing system that supports cache-answerability of XML queries, and evaluate its performance. XML path expression, which is one of the core features of XML query languages including XQuery, XPath, and XQL was considered as the XML query. Their result is maintained as an XML materialized view in the XML cache. The algorithms to rewrite the given XML path expression using its relevant materialized view proposed in [13] were implemented with RDBMS as XML store. The major issues of implementation are described in detail. The results of performance experiments conducted with the implemented system showed effectiveness of cache-answerability of XML queries. Comparison with previous research in terms of performance is also Provided.
