  • The need to be able to identify other individual human beings is fundamental to the security and has been true since the beginning of human history. Physical or behavioral characteristics (finger-scan, face-scan, voice, palm, iris, retina, signature, human DNA, keystroke, vain, gait etc.) of a person are used to authenticate the person. The biometric technologies allow for a greater reliability of authentication as compared with password systems for physical access, network security, e-commerce, and so on. In this paper, we describe various technologies, market analysis, multi-modal system, standardization, privacy issue and future prospect of biometrics.

  • 사용자의 개인정보 및 기업의 기밀정보와 같인 데이터의 안전한 이동 및 저장을 위하여 저장장치 보안 기술이 등장하였으며, 보안 USB와 보안 디스크 제품이 대표적으로 등장하였다. 이러한 제품은 저장되는 데이터를 안전하게 보호하기 위하여 사용자 인증 기술 및 데이터 암호 기술, 접근 제어 기술 등의 보안 기술을 적용한다. 특히, 사용자 인증 기술은 비밀번호 인증 기술이 대표적으로 활용되며, 인증을 강화하기 위하여 지문 인증 및 홍체 인증이 활용되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 보안 USB 제품, 특히 B 제품을 기반으로 적용된 사용자 인증 기술을 분석하고 이를 통하여 발생 가능한 보안 취약점을 분석한다. 분석 결과, 제품 B에 적용된 비밀번호 인증에서 발생 가능한 취약점을 도출하였으며, 이를 통하여 사용자 인증을 우회하여 저장장치 내부에 저장된 데이터의 탈취 가능함을 검증하였다.

Internet of Things (IoT) Framework for Granting Trust among Objects

  • The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) enables physical objects or things to be virtually accessible for both consuming and providing services. Undue access from irresponsible activities becomes an interesting issue to address. Maintenance of data integrity and privacy of objects is important from the perspective of security. Privacy can be achieved through various techniques: password authentication, cryptography, and the use of mathematical models to assess the level of security of other objects. Individual methods like these are less effective in increasing the security aspect. Comprehensive security schemes such as the use of frameworks are considered better, regardless of the framework model used, whether centralized, semi-centralized, or distributed ones. In this paper, we propose a new semi-centralized security framework that aims to improve privacy in IoT using the parameters of trust and reputation. A new algorithm to elect a reputation coordinator, i.e., ConTrust Manager is proposed in this framework. This framework allows each object to determine other objects that are considered trusted before the communication process is implemented. Evaluation of the proposed framework was done through simulation, which shows that the framework can be used as an alternative solution for improving security in the IoT.

  • This paper introduces a possibility for attackers to acquire the keyboard scan codes through using the RESEND command provided by the keyboard hardware itself, based on the PS/2 interface that is a dominant interface for input devices. Accordingly, a keyboard sniffing program using the introduced vulnerability is implemented to prove the severeness of the vulnerability, which shows that user passwords can be easily exposed. As one of the intrinsic vulnerabilities found on the existing platforms, for which there were little considerations on the security problems when they were designed, it is required to consider a hardware approach to countermeasure the introduced vulnerability.

  • Instant Messenger is one of the most popular communication service when translating message or data each other through Internet. For digital crime investigation, therefore, it is obviously important to obtain communication trace and contents derived from Instant Messenger. This is because that gathering traditional communication histories also have been important until now. However, extracting communication trace and contents are not easy because they are generally encrypted or obfuscated in local system, futhermore, sometimes they are located at server computer for Instant Messenger. This paper researches on extracting communication histories against NateOn, BuddyBuddy, Yahoo! messenger and Mi3 messenger, and obtaining user password or bypassing authentication system to Instant Messenger Service when a user use auto-login option.

  • 현재 타블렛PC, 전자칠판, 디지털 키오스크 단말, 은행 ATM기기 등에서 키보드 및 버튼이 아닌 터치패널을 이용해 사용자가 더욱 직관적인 입력을 할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다. 나아가 이러한 터치패널은 하나의 접점만 인식하는 것이 아닌 현재 기술로 여러 개의 접점을 인식하는 멀티터치 방식을 채택하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 멀티터치 환경에서의 다중 입력을 통한 사용자 인증 방식에 대한 아이디어를 소개하고자 한다. 멀티터치 환경에서의 비밀 번호 입력으로 이전의 싱글터치 기반에서 1글자씩 입력되던 비밀번호가 멀티터치 기반에서는 2개 이상의 글자로 입력될 수 있다. 멀티터치 기반의 패스워드 입력은 단순히 [ 1, 2, 3, 4 ] 로 입력되던 패스워드를 [ (1,3), 2, (3,4), (1,2,3) ] 와 같은 방식으로 설정함으로써 사용자 패스워드의 암호화 강도를 높이고 패스워드 노출 위험을 줄이려 하였다. 본 연구는 나아가 멀티터치 기반에서 사용자 패스워드를 넘어 개인 인증을 위한 보안 기술 연구의 초석으로 활용 될 것이다.

  • 최근 USB 저장장치의 데이터 노출 및 탈취 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 보안 USB 저장장치가 등장하였으나, 데이터를 보호하기 위한 다양한 보안기술을 적용함에도 불구하고, 사용자 인증 우회나 비밀번호 노출과 같은 취약점으로 인하여, 보안 USB에 저장된 중요한 자료나 민감한 정보가 노출되는 문제점이 지속해서 발견되는 실정이다. 이에 따라, 보안 USB의 취약점 연구도 지속적으로 연구되고 있지만, 보안 USB 취약점을 분석하는 것은 수동적이고, 많은 노력과 시간이 소요되므로, 취약점을 자동으로 진단하고 분석하는 도구가 요구된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 자동화된 취약점진단 및 분석 도구를 제작하기 위하여, F 제품을 대상으로, 해당 제품에서 제공하는 비밀번호인증에서 발생하는 취약점을 분석하고 실증하며, 그 결과를 기반으로 최종적으로는 보안 USB 취약점 익스플로잇 도구 프로토타입을 개발한다.

IoT Open-Source and AI based Automatic Door Lock Access Control Solution

  • Recently, there was an increasing demand for an integrated access control system which is capable of user recognition, door control, and facility operations control for smart buildings automation. The market available door lock access control solutions need to be improved from the current level security of door locks operations where security is compromised when a password or digital keys are exposed to the strangers. At present, the access control system solution providers focusing on developing an automatic access control system using (RF) based technologies like bluetooth, WiFi, etc. All the existing automatic door access control technologies required an additional hardware interface and always vulnerable security threads. This paper proposes the user identification and authentication solution for automatic door lock control operations using camera based visible light communication (VLC) technology. This proposed approach use the cameras installed in building facility, user smart devices and IoT open source controller based LED light sensors installed in buildings infrastructure. The building facility installed IoT LED light sensors transmit the authorized user and facility information color grid code and the smart device camera decode the user informations and verify with stored user information then indicate the authentication status to the user and send authentication acknowledgement to facility door lock integrated camera to control the door lock operations. The camera based VLC receiver uses the artificial intelligence (AI) methods to decode VLC data to improve the VLC performance. This paper implements the testbed model using IoT open-source based LED light sensor with CCTV camera and user smartphone devices. The experiment results are verified with custom made convolutional neural network (CNN) based AI techniques for VLC deciding method on smart devices and PC based CCTV monitoring solutions. The archived experiment results confirm that proposed door access control solution is effective and robust for automatic door access control.

  • Recently, studies have been conducted to improve the m-commerce process in the NFC-based mobile environment and the increase of the number of smart phones built in NFC. Since authentication is important in mobile electronic payment, FIDO(Fast IDentity Online) and 2 Factor electronic payment system are applied. In addition, block-chains using distributed raw materials have emerged as a representative technology of the fourth industry. In this study, for the mobile gallery auction of the traders using NFC embedded terminal (smartphone) in a small gallery auction in which an unspecified minority participates, password-based authentication and biometric authentication technology (fingerprint) were applied to record transaction details and ownership transfer of the auction participants in electronic payment. And, for the cost reduction and data integrity related to gallery auction, the private distributed director block chain was constructed and used. In addition, domestic and foreign cases applying block chain in the auction field were investigated and compared. In the future, the study will also study the implementation of block chain networks and smart contract and the integration of block chain and artificial intelligence to apply the proposed method.

Hybrid PKI Public Certificate Security Method Based on Device ID (디바이스 ID 기반의 하이브리드 PKI 공인 인증 보안 기법)

  • In this study, the hybrid authorization quotation technique is based on the device ID for the integrity of the source region guarantee of user certificate, in order to improve the convenience and security for user in the hybrid PKI certificate Mechanism for authentication. The feature of the model in which it is presented from this paper is 5. First, because the user can select the policy himself in which it matches with each authentication situation and security level, the convenience can be improved. Second, the integrity of the source region of the user certificate can be guaranteed through the comparison of the DLDI Key, that is the hash-value of the device ID. Third, the security can be improved by continuously changing an encoding, and the value of the key in which it decodes through the EOTP Key. Fourth, the index value is added to a certificate, and the storage of a certificate is possible at the Multi-Device. Fifth, since the addi the inan aratus for the integrity of the source region guarantee of a certificate is not needed, the authentication process time can be reduced and the computational load of the certificate server can be reduced also.
