Security Vulnerabilities of Client-Server Communications of Password Managers (패스워드 매니저의 클라이언트-서버 통신 취약점 분석)

  • Many users are using password managers in order to conveniently manage several usernames and passwords needed to access the web sites. The password manager encrypts and stores several passwords on the server, and the user accesses the server to receive the password information. Thus, if an attacker can sniff a message between the password manager and the server and decrypt the message content, or if an attacker can steal the computer's memory and decrypt the message content, then all the passwords will be exposed to the attacker. In this paper, we analyze the client-server communications and encryption process of password mangers and show there is a serious vulnerability in memory attack.

  • As the number of services offered on the Internet exponentially increases, password managers are increasing popular applications that store several passwords in an encrypted database (or password vault). Browser-integrated password managers or locally-installed password managers store the password vault on the user's device. Although a web-based password manager stores the password vault on the cloud server, a user can store the master password used to sign in the cloud server on her device. An attacker that steals a user's encrypted vault stored in the victim's device can make an offline attack and, if successful, all the passwords in the vault will be exposed to the attacker. This paper investigates the vulnerability of the password vault stored in the device and develops attack programs to verify the vulnerability of the password vault.

  • The first stage for computer security is password. If security of password is impotent even constructing of perfect fire-wall, fire-wall is not anything but a good-for-nothing. Because management of password is depend upon an end-user rather than a system-manager, carelessness of password management is an inevitable result. It is a reason that an end-user is actually not able to manage a high-difficulty-password. In this paper, algorithm of password is improved to be difficult of hacking, having a existing password input pattern for an end-user.

  • Enforcing additional authentication to password-based authentication, in addition to attempting to increase the security of the password itself, helps to improve the security of the password authentication scheme. For a well-known problem of using strong passwords that differ from site to site, we propose a scheme for password generation and management with an inherent supplementary authentication. Like the so-called password manager, the scheme retrieves and presents a strong site-specific password whenever requested without requiring the user to remember multiple passwords. Unlike the existing methods, however, the scheme permits the password retrieval process to proceed only through the authenticated user's ownership verified smartphone. Hence, even for sites not enforcing or supporting two-factor authentication, the logon process can benefit from the scheme's assurance of enhanced security with its two-factor equivalent authentication. The scheme can also prevent an attacker from impersonating a user or stealing secrets even when the stored information of the server for password retrieval service or the user's smartphone is leaked.

  • Internet users can input URL in Address window of browser or click address of site that is registered to Bookmark and sail the world of internet. But, need input of ID and password and mouse click action of 4-5 times to reach on target page that users want. This environment is very annoying work to users who approach specification page repeatedly every day. So, Homepage (first screen) of URL that want is not, Web Page Access Manager's development that can approach to target page that want by mouse click of short once. That may make web users can approach fast on target page, and minimise effort by web sailing.

  • In this paper we studied English listening and speaking test part of foreign language using web and VoiceXML-based education testing system, which is irrespective of time and space. The testing system interface based on VoiceXML consists of user registration module, testing module, and testing result module. User registration module registers user's name and ID, password in user database, and when a tester calls for testing, the User listens to the telephone sound supported by vxml scenario. After that, if a tester logs in, the tester is verified, In the VoiceXML-based education testing system, the manager can reduce time and effort for gaining testing result. The tester listens to the voice by scenario supported by VoiceXML markup language using wire/wireless telephone at any time or anywhere and can improve the effect of foreign language studying by valuating in voice directly. verified. Internet of Things (IoT) Framework for Granting Trust among Objects

  • The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) enables physical objects or things to be virtually accessible for both consuming and providing services. Undue access from irresponsible activities becomes an interesting issue to address. Maintenance of data integrity and privacy of objects is important from the perspective of security. Privacy can be achieved through various techniques: password authentication, cryptography, and the use of mathematical models to assess the level of security of other objects. Individual methods like these are less effective in increasing the security aspect. Comprehensive security schemes such as the use of frameworks are considered better, regardless of the framework model used, whether centralized, semi-centralized, or distributed ones. In this paper, we propose a new semi-centralized security framework that aims to improve privacy in IoT using the parameters of trust and reputation. A new algorithm to elect a reputation coordinator, i.e., ConTrust Manager is proposed in this framework. This framework allows each object to determine other objects that are considered trusted before the communication process is implemented. Evaluation of the proposed framework was done through simulation, which shows that the framework can be used as an alternative solution for improving security in the IoT.

  • Recently, protection of personal information is getting more important. Many countries have legislated about the protection of personal information. Now, the protection of relevant personal information is required not for a simple image of enterprises but law obligation. Most databases in enterprises used to store customers' names, addresses and credit card numbers with no exceptions. The personal information about a person is sensitive, and this asset is strategic. Therefore, most enterprises make an effort to preserve personal information safely. If someone, however, hacks password information of DBMS manager, no one can trust this system. Therefore, encryption is required based in order to protect data in the database. Because of database encryption, however, it is the problem of database performance in terms of computation time and the limited SQL query. Thus, we proposed an efficient query method to solve the problem of encrypted data in this paper.

  • With the spread of the various mobile devices, the studies on the learning management system based on the u-learning are actively proceeding. The u-learning-based learning management system is very convenient in that there are no restrictions on the various access devices as well as the access time and place. However, the judgments on the authentication for the user and whether learning is focused on are difficult. In this paper, the voice and user face capture interface rather than the common user event oriented interface was applied to the learning management system. When a user is accessing the learning management system, user's registered password is input and login as voice, and the user's learning attitude is judged through the response utterance of simple words during the process of learning through contents. As a result of evaluating the proposed learning management system, the user's learning achievement and concentration were improved, thus enabling the manager to monitor the user's abnormal learning attitude.

  • RFID that provide automatic identification by reading a tag attached to material through radio frequency without direct touch has some specification, such as rapid identification, long distance identification and penetration, so it is being used for distribution, transportation and safety by using the frequency of 125KHz, 134KHz, 13.56MHz, 433.92MHz, 900MHz, and 2.45GHz. Also it is one of main part of Ubiquitous that means connecting to net-work any time and any place they want. RFID is expected to be new growth industry worldwide, so Korean government think it as prospective field and promote research project and exhibition business program to linked with industry effectively. RFID could be used for access control of person and vehicle according to section and for personal certify with password. RFID can provide more confident security than magnetic card, so it could be used to prevent forgery of register card, passport and the others. Active RFID could be used for protecting operation service using it's long distance date transmission by application with positioning system. And RFID's identification and tracking function can provide effective visitor management through visitor's register, personal identification, position check and can control visitor's movement in the secure area without their approval. Also RFID can make possible of the efficient management and prevention of loss of carrying equipments and others. RFID could be applied to copying machine to manager and control it's user, copying quantity and It could provide some function such as observation of copy content, access control of user. RFID tag adhered to small storage device prevent carrying out of item using the position tracking function and control carrying-in and carrying-out of material efficiently. magnetic card and smart card have been doing good job in identification and control of person, but RFID can do above functions. RFID is very useful device but we should consider the prevention of privacy during its application.
