광대역 CDMA를 이용한 IMT-2000 회로 설계 및 성능 평가에 관한 연구 (A study on Circuit Design and Performance Evaluation of the IMT-2000 for Wideband CDMA)

  • 본 연구에서는 광대역 CDMA의 특징과 광대역 CDMA 기술을 이용한 IMT-2000용 단말기에 요구되는 기술규격에 대해서 연구하고 제안하여, 제안된 규격을 만족하는 RF회로 및 이론적 모델을 분석하여 설계하였다. 본 연구에서 구현된 단말기의 RF회로는 3개의 부분으로 구성되어 평가되었다. 주파수합성부는 스왈로우 카운터와 고차 루프필터를 통해 스퓨리어스를 감소시켰다. 송신부의 출력은 50mW이며, 스퓨리어스특성은 5MHz옵셋에서 -40dB/30kHz이며, 전력제어범위는 -20dB이다. 환경 및 이론적설계에서 고려되어야 할 제안 특성들은 가능한 한 간단히 표현되었으나, 본 연구의 결과를 통해 광대역 CDMA 이동통신 시스템의 설계에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

인광성 백색 LED의 가시광 통신 변조 대역폭 향상을 위한 등화기 구현 (Implementation of the Equalization Circuits for High Bandwidth Visible Light Communications Using Phosphorescent White LED)

  • 본 논문에서는 인광물질을 포함하는 조명용 백색 LED를 이용한 가시광 통신 시스템의 변조 대역폭을 늘리기 위한 등화기를 설계하고 실험적으로 결과를 보였다. 등화기의 성능을 분석하기 위한 해석적 방법으로 회로 시뮬레이터인 PSpice를 이용하였다. 등화기는 저항과 커패시터를 이용한 수동필터와 증폭기를 이용한 능동필터의 조합으로 구성하였다. 등화기를 수신단에 적용함으로써 3.5 MHz 부근의 인광성 백색 LED 변조 대역폭이 청색 광학필터를 사용하지 않고도 25 MHz 까지 확장되었다. 상용화된 라운드형 백색 LED 1개와 PIN형 광 다이오드 1개를 이용하여 구현한 가시광 통신 시스템에서 진폭편이변조 방식으로 변조된 LED의 가시광 신호는 1미터 거리에서 35 Mbit/s 데이터 전송률을 보였다. 이때의 비트 에러율은 $7.6{\times}10^{-4}$이었으며 이는 순방향 오류 정정의 한계인 $3.8{\times}10^{-3}$ 이하를 만족하였다.

  • In order to enhance satellite communication system performance, filters are required with the characteristics of sharp skirt, low insertion loss, and high power handling capability. But the performance of microwave passive filters is significantly declined by the conduction losses, especially in case of planar structures using film conductors. By using high temperature superconducting(HTS) film material as the conductor, higher performance could be expected. We have designed and developed narrow bandpass filters using haripin-type superconducting microstrip line for satellite communication. High quality superconducting YBCO thin films have been grown on MgO substrates by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) The deposited YBCO films were patterned by conventional wet-etching process. The transition temperatures of these films had shown 86 - 89 K. The film thicknesses were about 500 nm. Experimental results are presented for the insertion loss and return loss of the filter at 60 K.

  • A signal conditioning circuit for capacitive displacement sensors was developed using a high frequency modulation/demodulation method, and its performance was evaluated. Since capacitive displacement sensors can achieve high resolution and linearity, they have been widely used as precision sensors within the range of several hundred micrometers. However, they inherently have a limitation in low frequency range and some nonlinearity characteristics and so a specially designed signal conditioning circuit is needed to handle these properties. The developed signal processing circuit consists of three parts: linearization, modulation/demodulation, and nonlinearity compensation. Each part was constructed discretely using several IC chips and passive elements. An evaluation system for precision displacement sensors was developed using a laser interferometer, a precision stage, and a PID position controller. The signal processing circuit was tested using the evaluation system in the respect of resolution, repeatability, linearity, and so on. From the experimental results, we know that a highly linear voltage output can be obtained successfully, which is proportional to displacement and the nonlinearity of output is less than 0.02% of full range. However, in the future, further investigation is required to reduce noise level and phase delay due to a low-pass filter. The evaluation system also can be applied effectively to calibration and evaluation of precision sensors and stages.

  • Aging-related degradation of nuclear power plant components is an important aspect to consider in securing the long term safety of the plant, especially the seismic safety, since the degradation of the components affects not only their seismic capacity but their response. This can cause a change in the seismic margin of a component and the overall seismic safety of a system. To better understand the status and characteristics of degradation of components in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), the degradation occurrences of components in the U.S. NPPs were identified by reviewing recent publicly available information sources and the characteristics of these occurrences were evaluated and compared to observations from the past. Ten categories of components that are of high risk significance in Korean NPPs were identified, comprising anchorage, concrete, containment, exchanger, filter, piping systems, reactor pressure vessels, structural steel, tanks, and vessels. Software tools were developed to expedite the review process. Results from this review effort were compared to previous data in the literature to characterize the overall degradation trends.

  • 최근에 이동통신 시스템의 다기능/고기능화에 따 라 여러 선진업체에서 RF부품의 모듈화 개발이 추 진되고 있으며, 이에 대응하여 LTCC를 이용한 MCM (Multi-Chip Module)적층기술의 개발이 확대되고 있 다. 이 기술은 세라믹기판 내부에 L, C, R등의 수 동소자를 3차원적으로 구성, 일체화할 수 있기 때문 에 이들 수동소자 뿐 아니라 세라믹 개별 부품으로 이용되고 있는 대역통과 여파기 및 바이어스라인, 임피던스 매칭 회로, 스트립라인등을 하나의 구조물 에 집적화 시킴으로써 제품의 소형화 및 대량생산 이 가능해진다. 본 논문에서는 LTCC를 활용한 고 집적 복합모듈 기술과 동향에 대한 개요 및 개발사례로서 적층 VCO 모듈의 제작에 대해 소개하기로 한다.

공단지역내 이산화질소농도에 관한 연구 (A Study of Nitrogen Dioxide Concentration in Industrial Areas)

  • This study were conducted to estimate property of nitrogen dioxide concentration at industrial areas in Korea. The nitrogen dioxide concentrations were measured for 50 dwellings at Ulsan and Yeochon, respectively using the nitrogen dioxide filter badge forming the passive sampler from summer time 1998 to winter time 1999. The major results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. The mean indoor, outdoor, and personal concentrations of nitrogen dioxide during summer time 1998 in Ulsan were 28.9 ppb, 24.8 ppb, 24.8 pub, respectively. 2. The mean indoor, outdoor, and personal concentrations of nitrogen dioxide during winter time 1999 in Yeochon were 11.4 ppb, 12.5 ppb, 15.5 ppb, respectively. 3. The mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide during winter time 1998 were higher than the corresponding levels during summer time 1997 in Ulsan. 4. The mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide in Ulsan were in general higher than the corresponding levels in Yeochon. 5. This results in slightly positive correlation among indoor, outdoor, and personal nitrogen dioxide concentrations for summer time in Ulsan, then it statistical significance is showed(p <.05). These results suggest that nitrogen dioxide concentrations in industrial areas seem to be affected by traffic density and conditions of industrialization.

수동 소자를 이용한 ADSL POTS Splitter의 체계적인 설계 (A Systematical Design of ADSL POTS Splitter Using Passive Devices)

  • ADSL POTS splitter를 설계하기 위한 체계적인 합성 과정을 제안하였다. 이들은 single-ended 인덕터, 균형 인덕터, 그리고 균형 밀결합 변압기 형태의 저역-통과 여파기로 구성된다. 이 3개의 저역-통과 여파기를 시뮬레이션한 결과, 주파수 특성이 일치함을 보여준다. ADSL 시스템에 적용하기 위해, 상업용 균형 밀결합 변압기를 이용하여 POTS splitter를 설계하였다. 그것을 실험한 결과, ADSL 시스템에서 POTS splitter가 0.2 kHz에서 3.4kHz까지의 주파수 범위에서(또는 음성 대역 주파수에서) $\pm$0.5dB보다 작은 리플 데시벨과 0.6 kHz에서 3.2kHz까지의 주파수 범위에서 130 $\mu\textrm{s}$보다 작은 지연 왜곡을 가진다는 것을 알았다.

Design of A 1.8-V CMOS Frequency Synthesizer for WCDMA

  • This research describes the design of a fully integrated fractional-N frequency synthesizer intended for the local oscillator in IMT-2000 system using 0.18-$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology and 1.8-V single power supply. The designed fractional-N synthesizer contains following components. Modified charge pump uses active cascode transistors to achieve the high output impedance. A multi-modulus prescaler has modified ECL-like D flip-flop with additional diode-connected transistors for short transient time and high frequency operation. And phase-frequency detector, integrated passive loop filter, LC-tuned VCO having a tuning range from 1.584 to 2.4 ㎓ at 1.8-V power supply, and higher-order sigma-delta modulator are contained. Finally, designed frequency synthesizer provides 5 ㎒ channel spacing with -122.6 dBc/Hz at 1 ㎒ in the WCDMA band and total output power is 28 mW.

VPI Varnishing Technology Effects on Frequency Characteristics of an Air Core Inductor Used in LISN Circuit Application

  • The functional characteristic of LISN circuit, which is used for measurements of conductive noise in mains power line, is basically related to frequency characteristics of passive elements like inductors used in the circuit as well as the frequency response of inductors is highly related to the resins used in the varnishing process. The significant problem in determination of an inductor's frequency characteristic is the intrinsic resistance, inductance and parasitic capacitance. In this triplet, the parasitic capacitance is the major limiting factor of inductor's frequency range. This capacitance depends on inductor design parameters and materials filling the spaces of coil like resin and its coherency after curing process. In this paper, two similar inductors were designed and built. The first inductor was not varnished while the second one was varnished with VPI technology. VPI, or Vacuum, Pressure, Impregnation technology is one of the most reliable methods performing good insulating conditions for electrical circuits and windings based on resins. The measured results show that implying varnishing technology does not significantly affect the frequency response. However, due to mechanical solidity aspects and improved environmental protection, it is better to varnish the inductors.
