터보펌프 인듀서의 수치해석을 통한 성능예측 (Numerical Study on the Hydrodynamic Performance Prediction of Turbopump Inducers)

  • The inducers in liquid-rocket engines are to increase the inlet pressure of the pump to avoid any malfunction due to cavitation. Inducers are typically designed to be operated with some amount of cavitation for the compactness of the turbopump system. Also, inducers are designed to produce low headrise to prevent the decrease of the overall pump efficiency due to the low efficiency of inducers. In the present paper, a computational study on the hydrodynamic behavior of the inducer for the rocket-engine turbopump are presented including the effect of the mass flow rate under the constant rotational speed. As the mass flow rate is decreased, the inducer showed better performance with strong back flows which may have deleterious effects upon the anti-cavitation ability. But the adopted inducer showed very low headrise with high volume flow rates, which may be caused by the small passage area near the trailing edge. The modified version of the present inducer is proposed and numerically evaluated, which in turn showed better results.

터보펌프 인듀서의 유동해석

  • 액체로켓용 터보펌프 인듀서에 대한 수치해석적 연구에 이루어졌다. 다수의 유동조건에서의 쉬라우드 표면 정압분포, 수두 및 효율에 대한 계산이 수행되었으며, 실험값과 비교하였다. 쉬라우드 정압의 분포는 실험과 비교하여 잘 일치하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었으나, 입구의 역류가 심한 지역에서는 실험값과 차이를 보였다. 전체 성능, 즉, 수두 및 효율은 대체로 실험값과 잘 일치하였지만, 고유량에서 계산값이 실험치에 비하여 낮게 예측하는 것이 확인되었다. 본 연구에 채택된 인듀서의 경우, 유량계수가 0.074일 경우에 수력성능이 최고가 되었으며, 유량계수가 0.085이상에서 입사각이 양의 값을 가지게 된다.

유압제어시스템 적용을 위한 ER 밸브의 내구성 평가 (Durability Evaluation of ER Fluids in Hydraulic Control Systems)

  • Electro-rheological(ER) fluid and valve are fabricated and evaluated experimentally in its durability to utilize the hydraulic control systems for long term operation. The two-ports ER valve used in the experiment consist of twelve parallel multi-layer electrodes and provide a restriction to the passage of ER fluid because of the viscous pressure drop and a component induced by the electric field. The durability test of ER valve are performed by measuring the surface roughness of electrodes with variation of an electric field strength and test time(1000 or 1800min.). Also, the shear stress and shear rate are measured to evaluate the durability of ER fluid as function of time. After durability test, ER shear stress increases approximately proportional to the shear rate with applied electric field intensity, In the ER valve, the center line average height roughness(Ra) of copper electrode increases about 1.56 times and ten-point median height roughness(Rz) increases about 2.2 times after the durability test. An understanding of these durability is essential to predicting the service life of ER fluid and valves.

조류 성장이 부레옥잠을 이용한 폐수처리공법의 유출수에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Algae Growth on the Effluent of Wastewater Treatment Systems by Using Water Hyacinth)

  • Growing algae spread over open water surface of water hyacinth system the leaves of hyacinth prevented the passage of sunlight through the water surface. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of the algae growth on the effluent of water hyacinth wastewater treatment systems operated with the variation of an organic loading rate between 190 to 550 kg COD/ha.day. The effluent from the system contained algae was discharged for about 2-3 weeks from the beginning of experimental operation of water hyacinth systems. BOD and 55 concentration of effluents during algae growthing periods were higher than those during the period of algae control. But nitrogen and phosphrous romoval efficiencies during in algae growthing periods were slighty higher than those during the period of algae control.

부분분사 마이크로 축류형터빈에서의 익형각 효과에 관한 연구 (Effect of Blade Angles on a Micro Axial-Type Turbine Operated in a Low Partial Admission Rate)

  • 본 연구에 채택된 마이크로터빈은 축류형 터빈으로 2단으로 구성되어져 있으며 로터 유로에서의 평균반경이 8.4 mm이다. 이러한 소형 터빈은 마이크로 동력시스템의 드라이브로 사용되어질 수 있으며 무부하 상태에서 100,000 RPM의 회전속도에 도달한다. 하지만 낮은 부분분사에서 작동하므로 동익과 정익의 익형각에 따라 성능의 변화가 발생되어진다. 따라서 노즐, 정익, 동익의 익형각을 변경하면서 비출력과 총 비토오크를 측정하여 각각의 성능을 분석하였다. 성능실험의 결과에 의하면 동익 익형각의 변화에 따라 총 비토오크가 15%까지 변경되어졌으며 최적의 입사각은 $10.3^{\circ}$ 정도였다.

  • Recently, due to the rapid industrialization and urbanization, a great number of infrastructure and population were concentrated in urban areas. These changes have resulted in unprecedent runoff characteristics in urban basins, and the increase in impermeable areas leads to the growth of the runoff and the peak flow rate. Although many cities have made a lot of efforts to check and expand the stormwater network, the flash flood or the local torrential rain caused a growing number of casualty and property damage. This study analyzed the stormwater passage rate in a target area using SWMM. By incorporating the flow quantity surpassing the storm sewer capacity, a 2D inland flooding analysis model was applied to route the inundated area and velocity.

동전기적방법에 의한 오염토양 내의 세슘 분리

  • The electrokinetic apparatus for remediation of the soil contaminated with Cs$^{+}$was designed. After kaolin clay was compulsorily contaminated by Cs$^{+}$ solution, the remediation characteristics by electrokinetic method were analyzed. After remediation experiment, the pH of the cathode side of the soil column was increased to 12.7 due to the generation of OH in cathode reservoir, but no hydroxide cesium form in the cathode side. Effluent rate from the cathode almost was constant and cesium concentration of effluent decreased with time passage. The 49% of a total of Cs$^{+}$ in the column was decontaminated for 0.4 day, the 72% of a total of Cs$^{+}$ in the column was decontaminated for 0.8 day, the 83% of a total of Cs$^{+}$ in the column was decontaminated for 1.2 days, the 89% of a total of Cs$^{+}$ in the column was decontaminated for 1.6 days, and the 93% of a total of Cs$^{+}$ in the column was decontaminated for 2.1 day Meanwhile, the predicted values of residual concentration by the developed model were quite similar to those obtained from experiments.m experiments.

흡기조건의 변화에 따른 공기조화용 회전재생기에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Rotary Regenerator for Air Conditioning according to Variable Inlet Conditions)

  • The experimental study investigates two aspects of counterflow sensible heat regenerator operation. First, it examines the regenerator performance in periodic steady state operation with spatially nonuniform inlet temperature in one of the fluid stream. Second, the study examines the transient response of a regenerator to a step change in the inlet temperature of one of the fluid streams. The effect of transient inlet temperatures is analyzed in terms of the response of the outlet fluid temperatures to a step change in temperature of one of the inlet fluid streams. The effect of temperature nonuniformities is analyzed in terms of the change of temperature nonuniformities is analyzed in terms of the change in steady state effectiveness due to a circumferential temperature distribution in one of the inlet fluid streams. an experimental analysis has been conducted using a counterflow, parallel passage, and rotary regenerator made from polyethylene film. Efficiencies follow similar trends with increasing matrix to fluid capacity rate ratio for the balanced and symmetric regenerator with nonuniform inlet temperature.

Ruminal Dry Matter and Fiber Characteristics of Rice Hulls-bedded Broiler Litter Compared with Rice Straw

  • Ruminal digestion of dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of processed (ensiled, deepstacked or composted) broiler litter (BL) was determined in situ and in vitro, and compared with rice straw (RS). DM disappearances at 24 and 48 h and digestion of differently processed BL were higher than those of RS. Compared with RS, processed BL was low in NDF disappearance at 72 h incubation, digestion rate ($K_dB$) and digestibility at 0.025 of passage rate; however, deepstacked BL was similar in these NDF characteristics. Processing of BL affected ruminal digestion of nutrients such as DM and NDF adversely. NDF of composted BL, especially, was the most indigestible. This in situ nutritional evaluation indicated that deepstacked BL, the most widely used form of BL, was superior in DM characteristics (fractions, ruminal disappearance and digestibility) and similar in NDF characteristics (ruminal disappearance and digestibility) to RS.

압축점화 가솔린기관의 성능 및 배기특성 (Performance and Emission Characteristics of Compression Ignition Gasoline Engine)

  • This work deals with a controlled auto-ignition (CAI) single cylinder gasoline engine, focusing on the extension of operating conditions. The fuel is injected indirectly into electrically heated inlet air flow. In order to keep a homogeneous air-fuel mixing, the fuel injector is water-cooled by a specially designed coolant passage. Investigated are the engine performance and emission characteristics under the wide range of operating conditions such as 32 to 63 in the air-fuel ratio, 1000 to 1800 rpm in the engine speed, and 150 to 18$0^{\circ}C$ in the inlet air temperature. The compression ignition gasoline engine can be achieved that the ultra lean-burn with self-ignition of gasoline fuel by heating inlet air. For example. the allowable lean limit of air-fuel ratio is extended until 63 at engine speed of 1000 rpm and inlet air temperature of 17$0^{\circ}C$. It can be achieved that the emission concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide had been significantly reduced by CAI combustion compared with conventional spark ignition engine.
