TiO2를 이용한 목질보드용 요소수지의 포름알데히드방출 저감을 위한 새로운 제조방법 (A Novel Manufacturing Method of Urea-formaldehyde Resin with the Titanium Dioxide for Reducing Formaldehyde Emission)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine a proper amount of addition and a proper point for addition of titanium dioxide for the manufacture of E0 type of urea-formaldehyde resin (UF). The reduction of free formaldehyde from UF resin treated particle board was also investigated. $TiO_2$ content was 0.5%, 1% and 3% on the dry basis of UF resin. UV light was used to initiate reaction. The results of this study are as follows: 1. During UF resin manufacturing process, the second adding step of urea was proper point for $TiO_2$ addition. 2. 1 % addition of $TiO_2$ gave good values for the Eo type urea-formaldehyde resin. 3. There was no significant difference between physical properties of particle board, but the higher the adding content of titanium dioxide resulted in the lower the mechanical properties.

  • The codeposition behavior of WC particles from an additive-free nickel sulfate and sulfamate solution has been investigated. Electroplating of Ni/WC composites was carried out at different current density with variation of WC particle size. The Guglielmi adsorption mechanism is applied to the electroplating of the fine WC in Ni matrix. The contents of WC in Ni composite coating were increased both by increasing current density and WC concentration in the bath. The hardness of Ni/WC composite coating at low current density is higher than that at high current density since finer WC particles dispersed through the coating. The codeposition behaviors of Co coated WC particles were also investigated. Conducting layer of particles promoted the codeposition behavior of Ni/WC-Co composite coatings.

Time-Delay Control for the Implementation of the Optimal Walking Trajectory of Humanoid Robot

  • Humanoid robots have fascinated many researchers since they appeared decades ago. For the requirement of both accurate tracking control and the safety of physical human-robot interaction, torque control is basically desirable for humanoid robots. Humanoid robots are highly nonlinear, coupled, complex systems, accordingly the calculation of robot model is difficult and even impossible if precise model of the humanoid robots are unknown. Therefore, it is difficult to control using traditional model-based techniques. To realize model-free torque control, time-delay control (TDC) for humanoid robot was proposed with time-delay estimation technique. Using optimal walking trajectory obtained by particle swarm optimization, TDC with proposed scheme is implemented on whole body of a humanoid, not on biped legs even though it is performed by a virtual humanoid robot. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed TDC for humanoid robots.

  • The TiC-(Ni/Ti) composites were prepared by reaction bonding between TiC preforms and the melted mixture of Ni/Ti metal the atomic ratio of which were the ranges of 0.3 to 3. And their microstructures phase composi-tions and mechanical properties were investigated. During reaction bonding Ni/Ti metal mixture had a good wettability an permeability with TiC preforms and pore-free and fully dense sintered bodies were fabricated. TiC particle shape changed from spherical to angular platelet-like and grain size was grown with Ni/Ti atomic ratio increasing from 0.3 to 1. whereas grain growth of TiC particle was restrained and its shape changed gain from angular platelet-like to spherical when Ni/Ti atomic ratio was more than 2. Maximum bending strength and fracture toughness were obtained at the Ni/Ti atomic ratio being 1 their values were 582 MPa and 11.1 MPa.m1/2 respectively.

Changes in the Modulation Amplitude and the Particle Sizes of Co/Pd Multilayers During Stress Release and Interdiffusion

  • An artificially modulated magnetic Co/Pd multilayer is one of the promising candidates for high density magneto-optic (MO) recording media, due to large Kerr rotation angle in the wavelength of a blue laser beam. however, since multilayer structure, as well as amorphous structure, is a non-equilibrium state in terms of free energy and MO recording is a kind of thermal recording which is conducted aound Curie temperature (Tc) of the recording media, when the multilayer is used for the MO recording media, changes in the multilayer structure are occurred as the amorphous structure do. Therefore, the assessment of the structural stability in the Co/Pd multilayer is crucially important both for basic research and applications. As the parameter of the structural stability in this research, modulation amplitude and particle size of the Co/Pd multilayer are measured in terms of Ar sputtering pressure and heat treatment temperature. From the results of the research, we find out that the magnetic exchange energy in the structural changes of a magnetic multilayer structure and suggest the operating temperature range for MO recording in the Co/Pd multilayer for the basic research and applications, respectively.

  • To understand the effect of powder characteristics on the thermal debinding behavior, PIM parts produced with powders with different particle sizes and particle shapes were examined to determine their weight losses during thermal debinding. The results show that the average diameter of the pore channel in the compact increased when the temperature increased and when coarse powders were used. However, the weight loss rates did not increase proportionally with the pore size. This suggests that the different powders that are frequently used in PIM parts do not affect the thermal debinding rate significantly. This is because the pore size is much larger than the mean free path of the decomposed gas molecules. Thus, the diffusion rates of the gases are not rate-controlling in thermal debinding. The controlling mechanism of the thermal debinding rate is the decomposition of the backbone binder in the PIM parts.

  • The anatase particle was facetted at the free surface and a neck formation between the anatase particles prior to the phase transformation occured. This resulted in the severe lattice distortion at the region of the interface near the neck and this can act as the nucleation sites for the phase transformation. The grain growth of rutile particles after the phase transformation grew very fast by the sweeping phenomena of grain boundary. Therfore, It leaded to the microstructure without the rutile phase located in anatase particle.

  • As the integrated circuit device shrinks to the smaller dimension, the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process was required for the global planarization of inter-metal dielectric(IMD) layer with free-defect. The effect of alternative commerical slurries pads, and post-CMP cleaning alternatives are discuess, with removal rate, scratch dentisty, surface roughness, dishing, erosion and particulate density used as performance metrics. we investigated the performance of $SnO_2$-CMP process using commonly used silica slurry, ceria slurry, tungsten slurry. This study shows removal rate and non-uniformity of $SnO_2$ thin film used to gas sensor by using Ceria, Silica, W-Slurry after CMP process. This study also shows the relation between particle size and CMP with particle size analysis of used slurry.

  • Recently, the biolistic process is emerging as an effective needle-free drug delivery technique to transfer adequate concentrations of pharmacologic agents to soft living tissues with minimum side effects. We have started developing an effective method for delivering drug coated particles using laser ablation. A thin metal foil with deposited micro-particles on one side is irradiated with laser beam on the opposite side so that a shock wave is generated. This shock wave travels through the foil and is reflected, which causes and instantaneous deformation of the foil. Due to such a sudden deformation, the micro-particles are ejected at a very high speed. Here we present the experimental results of direct and confined laser ablation, which correspond to the initial stage of the whole experiment.

Different Functional and Structural Characteristics between ApoA-I and ApoA-4 in Lipid-Free and Reconstituted HDL State: ApoA-4 Showed Less Anti-Atherogenic Activity

  • Apolipoprotein A-I and A-IV are protein constituents of high-density lipoproteins although their functional difference in lipoprotein metabolism is still unclear. To compare anti-atherogenic properties between apoA-I and apoA-4, we characterized both proteins in lipid-free and lipidbound state. In lipid-free state, apoA4 showed two distinct bands, around 78 and $67{\AA}$ on native gel electrophoresis, while apoA-I showed scattered band pattern less than $71{\AA}$. In reconstituted HDL (rHDL) state, apoA-4 showed three major bands around $101{\AA}$ and $113{\AA}$, while apoA-I-rHDL showed almost single band around $98{\AA}$ size. Lipid-free apoA-I showed 2.9-fold higher phospholipid binding ability than apoA-4. In lipid-free state, $BS_3$-crosslinking revealed that apoA-4 showed less multimerization tendency upto dimer, while apoA-I showed pentamerization. In rHDL state (95:1), apoA-4 was existed as dimer as like as apoA-I. With higher phospholipid content (255:1), five apoA-I and three apoA-4 were required to the bigger rHDL formation. Regardless of particle size, apoA-I-rHDL showed superior LCAT activation ability than apoA-4-rHDL. Uptake of acetylated LDL was inhibited by apoA-I in both lipid-free and lipid-bound state, while apoA-4 inhibited it only lipid-free state. ApoA-4 showed less anti-atherogenic activity with more sensitivity to glycation. In conclusion, apoA-4 showed inferior physiological functions in lipid-bound state, compared with those of apoA-I, to induce more pro-atherosclerotic properties.
