In this study, for textile use, the octadecane of phase change materials(PCM) was encapsulated in several micro-diameter shell which prevents leakage of the material during its liquid phase. Microencapsulated PCM(PM) was prepared with the different weight ratio of core material to wall material and by interfacial polymerization methods using polyurea as shell material. Phase stability for O/W emulsion of PCM and PVA aq. (PE) was evaluated by Turbiscan Lab. The capsule formation win identified using FT-IR. Physical properties of microcapsules including diameter, particle distribution, morphology were investigated. Thermal transport properties of suede treated with PM(SPM) were determined by KES-F7 system.
Numerical simulations for large scale triaxial tests with large diameter rockfill materials are conducted using distinct element method. For generation of compacted assembly with specific grain size distribution and initial material porosity, the clump logic method and expansion of generated particles are adapted. With micro parameters which are chosen by calibration process, discrete particle modelling of triaxial test in case of other confining stress and cyclic loading condition were conducted. Also numerical simulations of fluid injection into particulate materials were conducted to observe cavity initiation and propagation using distinct element method. The fluid scheme solves the continuity and Navior-Stokes equations numerically, then derives pressure and velocity vectors for fixed grid by considering the existence of particles within the fluid cell.
The atomization characteristics were investigated through the influence of the change of GLR and the change of working fluid on droplet size distribution and mean diameter of drop produced by effervescent atomizer. For simultaneous injection of water and high viscous waste vegetable oil, effervescent atomizer with two aerator tubes was specially designed. From the experimental results, regardless of mass fraction of vegetable oil in working fluids, it is expected that effervescent atomizer will exhibit excellent atomization performance at the high GLR conditions.

The dynamic particle image velocimetry (PIV) is consisted of a high frequency pulse laser, high speed cameras and a timing controller. The three velocity components of flow downstream of an axial flow fan for PC cooling system are measured using the dynamic PIV system. An Axial flow fan has seven blades of 72 mm in diameter. The rotating speed is 1800 rpm. The downstream flow is visualized by smoke particles of about $0.3-1\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. The three-dimensional instantaneous velocity fields are measured at three downstream planes. The swirl velocity component was diffused downstream and the change in time-mean vorticity distribution downstream was also discussed. The spatio-temporal change in axial velocity component with the blades passing is recognized by the instantaneous vector maps. And the dynamic behavior of vorticity moving with the rotating blades is discussed using the unsteady vorticity maps.
An experimental study is performed on atomization characteristics and stable operating condition for injection of high viscous waste vegetable oil using effervescent atomizer with two aerator tubes. Consideration is given to the effects of ALR and liquid viscosity on the velocity and mean diameter of the injected droplet. It is found that (i) as ALR increases, the axial velocity of the droplet is increased, while half-velocity width and SMD are decreased regardless of the change in liquid viscosities, (ii) the rate of fine drop distribution occupied in the total spray field is increased with an increasing in ALR, and (iii) the effect of viscosity on atomization characteristics is minor.
An experimental study was performed to develop the rotational fuel injection system of the micro turbojet engine. In this system, fuel is sprayed by centrifugal forces of engine shaft. The test rig was designed and manufactured to get droplet information on combustion space. This experimental apparatus consist of a high speed rotational device(Air-Spindle), fuel feeder, rotational fuel injector and acrylic case. To understand spray characteristics, spray droplet size, velocity and distribution were measured by PDPA (Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) and spray was visualized by using Nd-Yag laser-based flash photography. From the test results, the length of liquid column from injection orifice is controlled by the rotational speeds and Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD) is decreased with rotational speed. Also, Sauter Mean Diameter is increased as increasing mass flow rate at same rotational speeds.
In this paper, the effects of diverse parameters on the operation of loop heat pipe (LHP), such as particle diameter of sintered porous wick, wick porosity, vapor line diameter, thickness of wick and heating capacity were investigated by a theoretical analysis. A LHP has a wick only in its evaporator for the circulation of working fluid, and utilizes a porous wick structure of which pore size is very small to obtain a large capillary force. The working fluid is water and the material of sintered porous wick is copper. For these different parameters, capillary pressure, pressure drop in wick, pressure drops and temperature distribution were analyzed by a theoretical design method of LHP.
In this study, the effect of circle tunnel on the force distribution around underground rectangular gallery was investigated using theoretical approach, experimental test and Particle flow code simulation (PFC). Gypsum model with dimension of 1500×1500 mm was built. Tensile strength of material was 1 MPa. Dimension of central gallery was 100 mm×200 mm and diameter of adjacent tunnel in its right side was 20 mm, 40 mm and 60 mm. Horizontal distance between tunnel wall and gallery edge were 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 mm. using beam theory, the effect of tunnel diameter and distance between tunnel and gallery on the induced force around gallery was analyzed. In the laboratory test, the rate of loading displacement was set to 0.05 millimeter per minute. Also sensitivity analysis has been done. Using PFC2D, interaction between tunnel and gallery was simulated and its results were compared with experimental and theoretical analysis. The results show that the tensile force concentration has maximum value in center of the rectangular space. The tensile force concentration at the right side of the axisymmetric line of gallery has more than its value in the left side of the galleries axisymmetric line. The tensile force concentration was decreased by increasing the distance between tunnel and rectangular space. In whole of the configurations, the angles of micro cracks fluctuated between 75 and 105 degrees, which mean that the variations of tunnel situation have not any influence on the fracture angle.
Size distributions of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) and its water-soluble organic and inorganic components were measured between January and February 2021 at an urban site in Gwangju in order to identify the major factors that determine their size distributions. Their size distributions during the study period were mainly divided into two groups. In the first group, PM, NO3-, SO42-, NH4+ and water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) exhibited bi-modal size distributions with a dominant condensation mode at a particle size of 0.32 ㎛. This group was dominated by local production of secondary water-soluble components under atmospheric stagnation and low relative humidity (RH) conditions, rather than long-range transportation of aerosol particles from China. On the other hand, in the second group, they showed tri-modal size distributions with a very pronounced droplet mode at a diameter of 1.0 ㎛. These size distributions were attributable to the local generation and accumulation of secondary aerosol particles under atmospheric conditions such as atmospheric stagnation and high RH, and an increase in the influx of atmospheric aerosol particles by long-distance transportation abroad. Contributions of droplet mode NO3-, SO42-, NH4+ and WSOC to fine particles in the second group were significantly higher than those in the first group period. However, their condensation mode contributions were about two-fold higher in the first group than in the second group. The significant difference in the size distribution of the accumulation mode of the WSOC and secondary ionic components between the two groups was due to the influx of aerosol particles with a long residence time by long-distance transport from China and local weather conditions (e.g., RH).
Distribution of airborne microorganisms was determined with two different types of air samplers, the Anderson cascade sampler and the Aerobioscope sampler, in the vicinity of Taejon. The size distribution of particles carrying bacteria and fungi was concurrently measured. The concentration of detected viable airborne particles was greatly varied. It was observed that the number of microbial particles increased in April and October. The most isze o particles carrying bacteria was larger than 4.7 .mu.m in mean aerodiameter, which made up 69.8% of the total particle fraction. About 63.2% of fungi-carrying particles were smaller than 4.7 .mu.m in aerodiameter. The distribution of particles on Yellow Sand Phenomena days was also analyzed. The number of fine particles having mass median aero-diameter from 1.0 to 10.mu.m increased on Yellow Sand Phenomena days to about 6 times that on normal days and the n umber of colony forming unit (CFU/$\textrm{m}^3$) of airborne bacteria also increased by 4.3 times in April. The reuslts from the Anderson sampler showed that the concentration of bacteria increased greatly on the fraction of fine particles ranging from 0.6 $\mu$m to 4.7 $\mu$m in diameter. Unlike the increase in bacterial floraon Yellow Sand Phenomena days, the fungal concentration slightly decreased and showed a normal size distribution parttern. This study suggests that a long-range transmission of bacteria results form bacteria adsorbing onto the fine particles during the Yellow Sand Phenomena.
