Multi-target X-ray tube is a new type X-ray source, and can be applied in many fields such as sensitive X-ray fluorescence analysis and medical imaging. In this work, we report an electric field modulation multi-target X-ray tube, which contains four targets (Cr, Ni, Au, Mo) coated on a Beryllium (Be) window. A four-valve electric field deflector was developed to deflect the electron beam to bombard the corresponding targets. Particle dynamics analysis software was employed to simulate the particle tracking of electron beam. The results show that the 30 keV electron beam could get a 6.7 mm displacement on the target plane by 105 V/m electric field. The focus areas are about 2 mm × 5 mm and 4 mm × 2.5 mm after deflection in two directions. Thermal behavior calculated by ANSYS shows that the designed target assembly could withstand a 10 W continuous power. The optimum target thicknesses and emission spectra were obtained by Geant4 when the thickness of Be window was 300 mm and the electron beam incident angle was 0.141 rad. The results indicate that this multi-target X-ray tube could provide different X-ray sources effectively.
The detection efficiency and characteristics of an optical particle counter (OPC), with various sample nozzle outlet diameters, were experimentally investigated. The OPC system, which was built with original design, was made up of a diode laser, two photodetectors, and a variety of optics such as a beam splitter and a concave mirror. The cone-shaped sampling nozzle was designed to be changeable to alter the outlet diameter, within the range of 1 to 3 mm. For samples, sets of polystyrene latex (PSL) standard particle with various sizes of 1 to $3{\mu}m$, were used. As a result, detection efficiency of the OPC greatly decreased with larger nozzle outlet diameter. Moreover, increased nozzle outlet diameter means broader sample flow, thus caused light interference and multiple scattering which results in abnormal high peaks in scattered light signal. The ratio of abnormal peaks to regular signal of single particle increased with larger nozzle outlet diameter.

It has been noted that Monte Carlo simulations are the most accurate method to calculate dose distributions in any material and geometry. Monte Carlo transport algorithms determine the absorbed dose by following the path of representative particles as they travel through the medium. Accurate Monte Carlo dose calculations rely on detailed modeling of the radiation source. We modeled the effects of beam modifiers such as collimators, blocks, wedges, etc. of our accelerator, Varian Clinac 600C/D to ensure accurate representation of the radiation source using the EGSnrc based BEAM code. These were used in the EGSnrc based DOSXYZ code for the simulation of particles transport through a voxel based Cartesian coordinate system. Because Monte Carlo methods use particle-by-particle methods to simulate a radiation transport, more particle histories yield the better representation of the actual dose. But the prohibitively long time required to get high resolution and accuracy calculations has prevented the use of Monte Carlo methods in the actual clinical spots. Our ultimate aim is to develop a Monte Carlo dose calculation system designed specifically for radiation therapy planning, which is distinguished from current dose calculation methods. The purpose of this study in the present phase was to get dose calculation results corresponding to measurements within practical time limit. We used parallel processing and some variance reduction techniques, therefore reduced the computational time, preserving a good agreement between calculations of depth dose distributions and measurements within 5% deviations.

Influences of sustain pulse-width on electrical characteristics and luminous efficiency are experimentally investigated for surface discharge of AC-PDP. A square pulse with variable duty ratio and fixed rising time of 300 ns has been used in the experiment. It is found that the memory coefficient is significantly increased at the critical pulse-width. And the wall charges and wall voltages as well as capacitances are experimentally measured by Q- V analysis method along with the voltage margin relation, in terms of the sustain pulse-width in the range of $1{\mu}s$ to $5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency of 10 kHz to 180 kHz. And the luminous efficiency is also experimentally investigated in above range of sustain pulse-width with driving frequency of 10 kHz to 180 kHz. It is noted that the luminous efficiency for 10 kHz and 180 kHz are 1.29 1m/W and 0.68 1m/W respectively, since the power consumption for 10 kHz is much less than that for 180 kHz. It has been concluded that the optimal sustain pulse-width is in the range of $2.5 {\~}4.5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency range of 10 kHz and 60 kHz, and in the range of $1.5 {\~} 2.5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency range of 120 kHz and 180 kHz based on observation of memory coefficient, and wall voltage as well as luminous efficiency.

We have generated Ar plasma in dense plasma focus device with coaxial electrodes for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography and investigated an emitted visible light for electro-optical plasma diagnostics. We have applied an input voltage 4.5 kV to the capacitor bank of 1.53 uF and the diode chamber has been filled with Ar gas of pressure 8 mTorr. The inner surface of the cylindrical cathode has been attatched by an acetal insulator. Also, the anode made of tin metal. If we assumed that the focused plasma regions satisfy the local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) conditions, the electron temperature and density of the coaxial plasma focus could be obtained by Stark broadening of optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The Lorentzian profile for emission lines of Ar I of 426.629 nm and Ar II of 487.99 nm were measured with a visible monochromator. And the electron density has been estimated by FWHM (Full Width Half Maximum) of its profile. To find the exact value of FWHM, we observed the instrument line broadening of the monochromator with a Hg-Ar reference lamp. The electron temperature has been calculated using the two relative electron density ratios of the Stark profiles. In case of electron density, it has been observed by the Stark broadening method. This experiment result shows the temporal behavior of the electron temperature and density characteristics for the focused plasma. The EUV emission signal whose wavelength is about 6 ~ 16 nm has been detected by using a photo-detector (AXUV-100 Zr/C, IRD). The result compared the electron temperature and density with the temporal EUV signal. The electron density and temperature were observed to be $10^{16}\;cm^{-3}$ and 20 ~ 30 eV, respectively.

Spray characteristics of external mixing sonic twin-fluid atomization nozzles are investigated experimentally. Particle sizes are measured by the Fraunhofer diffraction method using the Malvern particle analyzer, and their radial distributions are obtained using the tomographical transformation technique. The spatial distribution of SMD shows that the drop size increases in the radial direction at a fixed liquid flow rate, and the distribution is getting uniform rapidly as the atomizing gas pressure increases. The SMD decreases as the liquid flow rate increases at a fixed GLR. It is found that the atomization efficiency of the flush type sonic nozzle is superior to that of protrusion type. The effect of laser beam diameter of the particle analyzer on the spatial SMD distribution is minor at present experimental conditions.
Using X-ray crystallography powder diffraction, the quantitative representation method of preferred orientation of particles ill tablets was developed. Selected faces of a tablet. the upper surface and faces cut parallel and normal to the upper surface, were presented to an X-ray beam and X-ray diffraction patterns for these faces were measured. The effects of particle size. tableting pressure, and particle form on the preferred orientation were also investigated. It was also recognized that the degree of anisotropy in terms of capping tendency was influenced by the preferred orientation of particles in tablets.
A number of dust particles are intruded into ODD(Optical disk drive) due to the flow caused by disk rotation and are adhered to a lens or disk surface. The space between the disk and the lens is being reduced. Someone indicates the problems of this drive that are relatively small data storing capacity and slow access time. In recent, the problems of this optical disk drive mentioned above are being solved by adding the speed of the disk's revolution, making the actuator high-speed or light, and making the beam spot size smaller than making the space narrow between disk and lens. These particle contamination affects seriously RF Signal, readout signal in an ODD. Especially, the affected parts by a particle contamination in an ODD's readout signal are objective lens and media.
The control of particle concentration distribution in a pipe with an orifice and a sheath air is numerically investigated. When using Eulerian approach, there is no great change in the concentration distribution by the shape of orifice and molecular diffusivity. As the Reynolds number becomes small, the effect of orifice on the concentration distribution is decreased. For small Reynolds number, the concentration distribution can be effectively controlled by using a sheath air. The effect of the sheath air on the concentration distribution is increased, as the Reynolds number becomes small.
