Conversation Assistive Technology for Maintaining Cognitive Health

  • Purpose: There is a need for artificial intelligence which nurtures human intelligence as the prevalence of dementia and collapse of intelligence of human beings has become a social problem. Purpose of this study is to develop intervention technologies for maintaining cognitive health of older adults. Methods: The method named the Coimagination Method (CM) was proposed and has been developed in order to achieve goal. Conversation assistive technologies have been developed and tested based on the method. Results: The state of the art of the group conversation support system, and regular series of group conversation sessions for full-years with insights for healthy older adults are described in detail. Participatory approach has been applied to the design process for simultaneous research and implementation of the service. Both participants and practitioners have been maintaining their cognitive health for independent living. Conclusion: Findings imply that there exist potentially preventive types of dementia and intervention should be applicable for such types. Ways of thinking and living are gently intervened through understanding of personal values and broadening minds, which lead to improved quality of life.

Social Media and Popular Places: The Case of Chicago

  • This paper offers new ways to learn about popular places in the city. Using locational data from Social Media platforms platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, along with participatory field visits and combining insights from architecture and urban design literature, this study reveals popular socio-spatial clusters in the City of Chicago. Locational data of photographs were visualized by using Geographic Information Systems and helped in producing heat maps that showed the spatial distribution of posted photographs. Geo-intensity of photographs illustrated areas that are most popularly visited in the city. The study's results indicate that the city's skyscrapers along open spaces are major elements of image formation. Findings also elucidate that Social Media plays an important role in promoting places; and thereby, sustaining a greater interest and stream of visitors. Consequently, planners should tap into public's digital engagement in city places to improve tourism and economy.

Labour of Love: Fan Labour, BTS, and South Korean Soft Power

  • With the steady rise in global popularity of the Korean music group BTS, the South Korean government and surrounding industries have swiftly begun utilizing their image and international recognition for specific nation branding purposes. While K-pop soft power strategies are not novel to the South Korean state, what is new is the rapid speed at which BTS have become a beacon for South Korean culture, language, and symbolism in the international arena. However, few scholarly works have sought to investigate the role fans have played in this heightened position for the group as state representatives, with minimal research conducted into the work fans do within the framework of ARMY fan culture. This paper will thus aim to fill the gap in scholarship on ARMY as an organized labour network, focusing on the role fans play as labourers in online spaces that work to promote, disseminate, and cultivate wider recognition for BTS as artists. Through the conjunct engagement of a political economy framework and theories of participatory culture, this paper will explore the manner through which the free labour of ARMY, premised on affect, has constructed the fandom as active agents of soft power alongside BTS themselves.

Success Story: How Storytelling Contributes to BTS's Brand

  • Good storytelling is at the heart of BTS as both a brand and a band. Modern brands know that story is no longer an option, but a requirement for keeping audiences engaged. With their consistent and creative reliance on story, BTS has transformed the K-Pop landscape, providing a framework for others in the industry that relies on open-structure narratives, sincerity, and active audience engagement, among other components. To investigate BTS's storytelling strategies, this article breaks down how stories permeate BTS's content, from music and videos to the Bangtan Universe and documentary films. The importance of transmedia storytelling and participatory audiences is also examined. The analysis resulted in a proposed framework that suggests the following components: 1) story as central to the brand; 2) authenticity and sincerity; 3) idol participation in creative output; 4) use of transmedia storytelling and story gaps; 5) intertextuality and cohesion; 6) opportunities for audience engagement; and 7) dedicated creative staff. Utilizing this framework can help K-Pop groups elevate their brands, better use storytelling elements, and gain larger, more engaged audiences.

교육 효과 제고를 위한 안전체험시설 전문가 의식 조사 (A Study on the Educational Effect of Safety Education Facilities through case study and interview with experts)

  • This is a qualitative case study conducted for the purpose of enhancing educational effect of safety education facilities. Recently, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has proclaimed the 7 standards for school safety education, and has established safety education facilities to implement experience-based safety education. This study attempted to explore ways to enhance educational effect of safety education facilities through participatory observation and interview conducted with personnel of several facilities. The findings of the study were as follows: it was necessary to secure and maintain facilities for the implementation of substantial safety education, to develop and distribute standardized curriculum and materials, and to improve quality of professional instructors. The study suggested implications and future tasks to improve the education effect of safety education facilities in various dimensions.

Development of Market Distribution through Digital Marketing Transformation Trends to Maximize Sales Turnover for Traditional Beverage Products

  • Purpose: The research aims to investigate the development of market distribution through digital marketing transformation trends with the support of universities. This development strategy is to maximize sales turnover of limited liability companies' typical traditional beverage products. Research design, data, and methodology: The research design uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data were obtained by participatory observation, in-depth interviews, FGDs, and documentation. Results: The result shows that the partner's traditional product market distribution strategy has been carried out by adopting science and technology and expertise possessed by partner universities. Universities that are Partners have benefited from the implementation of the Independent Campus program. Conclusions: The conclusion from the findings is that business actors must collaborate with universities through the Kedaireka Matchmaking Fund Program. The collaboration will create the right strategy development for the business. The government needs to provide more access to finance in the future. The hope is that the traditional beverage industry and higher education can realize the ease of synergy contributing to national development and the vision of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture's independent campus.

  • 좋은 정부가 되기 위해선 국민들이 현실을 제대로 이해할 수 있도록 정확한 정보를 공급하고 국민과 함께 정보를 공유해야 한다. 이를 위해 정부는 정보공개를 활성화하고 국민의 알권리 충족을 도모함으로서 정부와 국민간의 정보의 비대칭을 통한 편향적 관계를 개선하고, 정보공개제도의 활성화로 행정의 투명성을 제고하는 굿 거버넌스를 실천해야 한다. 이 글은 정보공개의 굿 거버넌스 사례를 소개하고 제도적 의미를 고찰한다.

  • This study aims to enhance the continuous utilization of community mapping by structurally understanding the intentions behind its ongoing use and the impacts related to it, grounded in prior research. By analyzing existing community mapping cases through literature studies on community mapping, this research identifies the characteristics of community mapping that motivate its sustained use. Moreover, based on the Uses and Gratifications Theory and the Participatory Communication Model (PCM), this study proposes a research model to investigate the factors influencing the intention to continue using community mapping. Unlike previous studies, which primarily focused on developing and applying community mapping processes for case studies, this research not only develops and applies a community mapping process but also aims to apply the findings related to the intention of continued use in future community mapping activity processes for sustained engagement.

참여정부의 자치경찰제 도입방안 (The Method of Participatory Government to Introduce the System of Autonomous Police)

  • 본 논문은 오랫동안 논의되어 왔던 자치경찰제의 도입방안에 대한 참여정부의 도입안이 확정됨에 따라 주요내용을 분석하고 쟁점사항을 검토하여 보완책을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 참여정부의 자치경찰 구성은 해당 시${\cdot}$${\cdot}$구가 자치경찰제 도입의 필요성이 있다고 판단되면 의회에서 조례를 제정하여 실시할 수 있도록 했으며, 시장, 군수, 구청 조직에 과단위의 기구로 운영되도록 한다는 것이다. 주요 업무는 방범, 순찰, 교통단속 등 주민생활과 밀접한 치안서비스와 현재 자치단체가 벌이고 있는 보건, 위생, 환경단속의 업무를 수행하게 된다. 그러나 정부안의 수용을 전제로, 예상되는 몇 가지 쟁점사항을 정리하면 다음의 세가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 경찰의 기본기능과 관련된 논점이다. 정부안에는 자치경찰에게 일반범죄에 대한 수사권을 주지 않고 있어 ‘경찰의 보조원’에 불과한 것이 아닌가, 하는 것이 논점이 되고 있다. 둘째, 지자체간의 치안서비스의 균형성 논란이 제기될 수 있다. 지방 자치단체간에는 치안환경이 상이하고, 따라서 치안수요도 각기 다르다. 그러기에 자치경찰의 치안서비스는 지자체에 따라 질적인 면에서 차이를 보이게 될 것이다. 셋째, 자치단체 예산으로 운영됨으로서 예상되는 논점이다. 자치경찰이 지자체의 예산으로 운영된다는 점에서, (1) 경찰행정이 일반행정의 하위에 놓여 집행력이 약화 될 수 있다. (2) 경찰기관 간에 협조가 원활하게 이루어지지 않을 수 있다. (3) 예비경찰 보유의 어려움으로 인해 경찰의 기동성(機動性)이 다소 떨어질 수도 있다.

노동아카이브의 형성과 발전방향 모색 성공회대 노동사연구소의 '참여형 아카이브' 시도를 중심으로 (The Establishment of Labor Archive and Its New Development Strategy : An Attempt to Build Participatory Archive of the Institute of Labor History in SKHU)

  • 성공회대 노동사연구소는 2001년 당시 전태일노동자료실의 소장 기록물이 성공회대에 기탁되는 것을 계기로 출범하게 되었다. 이후 문헌자료를 바탕으로 대규모 구술조사 연구사업을 진행하면서 노동아카이브와 노동연구의 바람직한 관계를 형성해 왔다. 하지만 노동기록이 축적되어감에 따라 새롭게 해결되어야 하는 문제들이 발생했다. 가장 중요한 것은 노동기록의 생산자(구술증언자)들의 불만족이었다. 기록의 이용자(연구자)들 측면에서도 연구자들이 기록을 고정된 해석의 프레임에 맞추거나, 자신의 해석에 따라 선별적으로 이용한다는 비판이 제기되어 왔다. 인천지역의 동일방직, 반도상사, 대한마이크로 등 노동조합 사례와 구로동맹파업의 사례 등을 통해 살펴보았을 때 기록의 생산과 활용 사이에서 발생하는 문제점은 분명하게 드러났다. 70년대 민주노조운동의 당사자들 사이에서도 역사적 기록에 '승리자'로 남는 그룹이 있는 반면에, 부당하게 '실패자'로 낙인찍히는 '중층적 주변화' 현상이 발생해 왔다. 연구자들의 적극적인 개입은 매우 제한적일 뿐이고, 시민과 노동자들 사이에서 이런 '기억투쟁'이 원활하게 해결되어 나갈 방법은 보이지 않는다. 이는 노동아카이브가 지역 속에 뿌리내리지 못하는 하나의 원인이 되고 있다. 본 논문은 참여형 노동아카이브의 구축을 통해서 기록 생산과 활용에 대한 대안적인 방법론을 제시하였다. 더 나아가 참여의 이론적인 부분을 보완하여 '로컬리티 기록화' 전략의 구체적 방향성을 모색하였다. 로컬과 로컬리티 연구는 비단 물리적 공간의 문제만이 아니다. 그것은 기억과 정체성, 그리고 사회적 관계를 구성해가는 과정에서 발생하는 '다중적 스케일'(multi-scalar) 접근 방법을 요청한다. 대안적인 '로컬리티 기록화' 전략은 기존의 노동아카이브가 해결해야 하는 기록 생산과 활용 사이의 문제점을 해소하는 데 기여할 것이다.
