Line Balanced Assembly Sequence Generation Based on a Verification of Disassemblability and Work Time (분해도 및 작업시간 산정을 통한 균형잡힌 조립공정계획에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a method of a line balanced assembly sequence generation based on the verification of a disassemblability and a work time. To derive the disassemblability for a part to be disassembled, first we inference collision free assembly directions by extracting separable directions fur the part. And we determine the disassemblability defined by the separability and stability cost. The separability cost represents a facility of the part disassembly operation, and the stability cost which represents a degree of the stability for the base assembly motion. Based upon the results, we propose a new approach of evaluating work time using neural networks. The proposed assembly sequence generation provides an effective means of solving the line balancing problem and gives a design guidance of planning assembly lay-out in flexible manufacturing application. Example study is given to illustrate the concepts and procedure of the proposed schemes.

The effects of flexible work arrangements on work-family conflict and facilitation, and job satisfaction for married working women: A longitudinal analysis (유연근무제도가 기혼여성의 일-가정 갈등 및 촉진, 직무만족에 미치는 영향: 패널분석 방법을 이용하여)

  • This study analyzes the effects of the three types of flexible work arrangements (part-time, flexitime, and reduced working hours for childcare) available in Korea on work-family conflict, facilitation, and job satisfaction for married working women ages 15-49. The study employs a panel analysis based on the first to the fourth data from the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Families (KLoWF). The major results are as follows. First, the availability of part-time jobs and reduced working hours to facilitate childcare is significantly related to work-family conflict for married women. If a married woman is employed in a part-time position or if reduced working hours for childcare are available, the conflict within the family caused by the job is reduced. Second, none of the three types of flexible work arrangements have a statistically significant influence on work-family facilitation for married women. Third, the availability of reduced working hours for childcare has a positive effect on the job satisfaction of married women. In conclusion, flexible working hours for women who are raising children are the main factor in reducing the negative effect of a job on a woman's family life as they contribute to work and family compatibility.

Determinants of Part-Time Work and Preparation for Later Life of Older Women (중고령 여성의 시간제 일자리 결정요인과 노후준비)

  • This study aims to outline the characteristics of part-time work among older women and examine what determines whether an older woman is employed part-time. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to investigate difference between the levels of later life preparation of full-time and part-time workers among older women and to suggest thereby the implications for policy makers to develop program for increasing the quality of part-time employment of older women. The results show that former job significantly influences part-time employment of older women. The findings also indicate that later life preparation of part-time workers, including household income, wage income, and public pension, is significantly lower than those of full-time workers among older women.

  • Since many small and medium sized enterprises in Korea have lack of funds to install a commercial computer packages for work standards and work scheduling. This study has been attempted to develop the computer-generated package to ease those problems. The system consisted of three major parts. The first part is a work measurement program applying W.F.(work factor) predetermined time standards for work standards. The second part is a work scheduling program which calculates each operator's machine and job allocation. The last part is a control program for the production outputs and the machine utilization monitoring. The system is programmed by dBASE III for the IBM-PC compatibles for the sake of user's conveniences.

Influential Factors for Job Satisfaction: A Comparison of Part-Time and Full-Time Female Employees with Children (취업모 일만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석: 전일제와 시간제 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine pathways of factors that influence job satisfaction for full-time and part-time married female employees with children of 18 or under and to compare path coefficients for two groups. Simultaneously analyzing multiple populations, we found that the path model was appropriate for both groups with significant differences in path coefficients. Income, workplace size, husband's support for wife's work, and work-to-family conflict had direct effects on job satisfaction for both groups whereas health had a direct effect only among full-time workers. Family-to-work conflict had an indirect effect for both types of workers, while health had an indirect effect among full-time employees only, and income and having children under school age among part-time employees only. The results indicate that differentiated approaches to increase job satisfaction for full- and part-time employees are needed.

  • The purpose of this study is that problems caused by labor environment of cuisiniers in hotels need to be considered and studies regarding a part-time cuisinier in a special-grade hotel need to be conducted. This study analyzes the influence of labor conditions and organizational commitment of a part-time hotel cuisinier on duty satisfaction. It consists of two parts: a research based on the review of the literature and empirical study methods. The method of human resource management in hotels such as treatment of a part-time cuisinier in a special-grade hotel and the way of management as a result of an empirical study are proposed. First, as a result of conducting research on duty satisfaction to part-time cuisinier, most of them are highly satisfied with their duty regardless of their age and academic backgrounds. Second, men hold a majority; woman staffs tent to have a had time working overtime considering the situation that hotels run for 24 hours. That is the main reason why less woman staffs work in hotels than man staffs do. Part-time staffs would like to work consistently after they get upgraded to a regular worker. Forth, it is considered to break down into detailed sectors and speciality is highly demanded.

  • This study was undertaken to evaluate the living condition and the reality of visiting part-time workers through the survey. On the matter of living condition, the most difficult problem is financial problem followed by residential problem. On the matter of female's household labor, there was a considerable difference according to the houseband's age and academic background, and family monthly income. On the question of family relationship, it was found that there was rare communication between children and father because father was rigid to talk with. In the case of mother and children, they could not find time to talk with each other. In the group of the old aged, they work to make their living. On the other hand, in the group of younger generations and the higher educated, they replied that they should work whatever the work is. It was found that they were subjected to their work because of their financial situation and that they were under the double yoke of family and work because there were no legal protection and organizational devices.

  • In Factory Automation environments such as FMS, the formation of machine-part based on GT should be considered. The purpose of this study is to develop a economic heuristic algorithm which considers various elements such as unit processing time, subcontract cost, and functional operation cost, machine processing capacity etc. When this proposed approach is applied to the real situation expected benefits are as follows: the reduction of production lead time work in process, labor force, tooling, rework and scrap, setup time, order time delivery, and paper work, etc.

  • Currently, the record of part-timer is mainly written in handwriting or using excel work schedule, paper work recorder, and time attendance program using POS program. And, work table, commute records, paycheck are managed separately. Time-attendance information is not linked and is managed separately, and payment of wages is often not done accurately. And, it is difficult to pay the wages because it is not able to accurately grasp the state of attendance of part-timer. Therefore, it is necessary to have a transparent wage and work management system based on the trust between the owner and the part-timer. In this paper, we design a system that can perform real-time commute check using beacon, transparent wage management, wage calculation by automatic calculation, and smooth communication between owner and the part-timer. We have also implemented a store management mobile application using Android Studio 2.3, Eclipse, Android 5.1 and Beacon devices in a MySQL environment.

An Analysis of Part-timer Labor Market in Kwangju (광주지역 시간제 노동시장 분석)

  • We analysed the determinants of part-timer labor demand and supply in Kwangju. The findings of the paper are as follows; First, firms employ part-timer workers in the unskilled or skilled jobs not demanding much training cost. There are two reasons for firms to employ part-time workers: labor cost cut and flexible employment adjustment. Estimated wage differential is 40% not including fringe benefits differential. Second, we find lots of married women to want part-time jobs. The more probably married women choose part-time work, the younger and the less educated they are, and the less kids and the less other income they have.
