A Study on Developing Reverse Parking Assistant Algorithm for Hi-modal Tram (바이모달 트램의 후진주차보조 알고리즘 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The bi-modal tram is under development as a new public transportation. The features of the tram are an extended wheel base and its length. This features result in difficulties for drivers on maneuvering the tram. Therefore, the all wheel steering system is applied to the articulated vehicle. The AWS system enables the vehicle to steer all the rear wheels independently and improves its driving characteristics. However, the bi-modal tram has a problem to move backward in the limited place because of its geometric feature and the AWS system. Hence, the reverse parking assistant algorithm for articulated vehicle is developed to solve the problems of the reverse parking. Using the vehicle model which includes the reverse parking assistant algorithm, the dynamic analysis is performed for several parking cases. By the result of the analysis, the stability and validity of the reverse parking assistant algorithm is verified.

Multi-View Image Parking Assistant System using Vehicle Data (차량 정보를 이용한 멀티뷰 영상 주차 보조 시스템)

  • This paper presents a parking assistant system of multi-view using vehicle data. Proposed system provides the driver with three direction of the scenes surrounding vehicle. Depending on the handle rotation, the proposed system displays views from multiple wide-angle CCD cameras on the laptop screen to reduce blind spots, support smooth parallel or garage parking, and support comfortable and safe driving. The handle angle and gear position are obtained from ABS ECU through OBD-II port. The performance of proposed system is validated by vehicle experiments.

  • Autoparking assistant systems are a new and very promising area in automotive systems engineering. Since the traffic in modern cities becomes more intense, it is getting harder for a driver. Those systems are necessary for an inexperienced one to find a proper parking slot, or to park in a narrow parking slot without damaging his car or the vehicles around. The implementation of autoparking assistant systems may reduce drivers' stress and make parking generally more comfortable. In addition, such system can be extremely useful for senior or disabled people or for drivers with reduced mobility. The implementation of autoparking assistant systems may increase the safety of the parking, and therefore the development of such systems is a highly-demanded task. We introduce an intelligent autoparking system that automatically generates trajectory for parking using a fuzzy logic. This paper consists of three parts. In first part we introduce trajectory generation method for parallel parking without collisions. Fuzzy-logic based trajectory generation algorithm is described in second part. Experimental results presented in the third part of the paper prove effectiveness of the proposed method.

An Accurate Moving Distance Measurement Using the Rear-View Images in Parking Assistant Systems (후방영상 기반 주차 보조 시스템에서 정밀 이동거리 추출 기법)

  • In the recent parking assistant systems, finding out the distance to the object behind a car is often performed by the range sensors such as ultrasonic sensors, radars. However, the installation of additional sensors on the used vehicle could be difficult and require extra cost. On the other hand, the motion stereo technique that extracts distance information using only an image sensor was also proposed. However, In the stereo rectification step, the motion stereo requires good features and exacts matching result. In this paper, we propose a fast algorithm that extracts the accurate distance information for the parallel parking situation using the consecutive images that is acquired by a rear-view camera. The proposed algorithm uses the quadrangle transform of the image, the horizontal line integral projection, and the blocking-based correlation measurement. In the experiment with the magna parallel test sequence, the result shows that the line-accurate distance measurement with the image sequence from the rear-view camera is possible.

  • This paper introduces an AVP (Automated Valet Parking) system which applies an autonomous driving concept into the current PAS (Parking Assistant System). The present commercial PAS technology is limited into vehicle. It means vehicle only senses and controls by and for itself to assist the parking. Therefore, the present PAS is restricted to simple parking events. But AVP includes wider parking events and planning because it uses infra-sensor network as well as vehicle sensor. For the realization of AVP, the commercial steering system of a compact vehicle was modified into steer-by-wire structure and various sensors like LRF (Long Range Finder) and camera were installed in a parking area. And local & global server decides where and when the vehicle can go and park in the testing area after recognized the status of environment and vehicle from those sensors. GPS solution was used to validate the AVP performance. More various parking situations, vehicles and obstacles will be considered in the next research stages based on these results. And we expect this AVP solution with more intelligent vehicles can be applied in a big parking lot like a market, an amusement park, etc.

  • 주차 관리원에 의한 주차요금 징수체계가 경영효율이 낮고 부조리의 발생요인이 높아 기계화설비의 도입에 의한 주차요금징수 자동화시스템으로의 변환이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 무선 단문 서비스(SMS ,Wireless Short Message Service)와 개인 휴대 정보 단말기(PDA : Personal Digital Assistant)를 이용하여 광역에 걸쳐 설치되어 있는 주차 관제용 기계화 설비를 원격으로 관리하며 최소의 주차 관리요원으로 넓은 주차시설의 효율적인 관리를 가능하게 하는 기계화설비에 대한 원격관리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • 최근 무선 인터넷의 발전으로 인하여 통신 환경의 변화가 급속하게 이루어지고 있다. 또한 PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)의 발전 속도가 일반 데스크탑 PC 의 발전 속도를 상회할 정도로 빠르게 성장하고 있으며, 고성능 모바일 CPU 가 사용되면서부터 다양한 주변기기들을 이용하는 형태까지 발전하고 있다. 이러한 무선 인터넷을 활용한 PDA 의 사용으로 보다 빠르고 다양한 정보의 교환을 할 수 있게 되었으며 사용자의 이동성을 보장하는 서비스의 제공이 가능해졌다. 이러한 무선 인터넷을 활용한 서비스는 현재 시행되고 있는 불법 주차 단속시스템에 신속성과 효율성을 부가하는데 적절하게 적용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 대중화 되고 있는 PDA 와 무선 인터넷을 이용하여 현장에서 처리되는 불법 주차단속 사항을 주차 관리 중앙센터와 무선으로 연계하여 신속한 견인 및 조치가 이루어 질 수 있는 시스템을 설계 하고자 한다.

  • Recently, the driver can be assisted by the advanced active safety devices such as ADAS from road traffic risks. With this system, driver and passenger may freed from can driving tasks or kept eyes on forward direction while on the road. Help from adoptive cruise control, auto parking and newly develped automated driving vehicles technologies, the driver positions will vary significantly from the current standard driver position during the travel time. On this hypothesis, the objective of this study is analyze the behavior and injuries of drivers in the event of frontal impact under these abnormal driver position. Based on the KNCAP frontal impact testing method, this simulation matrix was set-up with dummies of 5 th tile female Hybrid III dummy and 50 th tile male Hybrid III dummy. The small sedan type passenger car was modeled in this simulation. The series of simulation was performed to compare the injuries and behaviour of each dummy, varying the seating status and seat position of each dummy.
