  • A Parking Guidance and Information Service System is to provide real-time parking-information and the shortest parking-path for increasing the user's convenience, relieving traffic congestion, reducing illegal parking, and maximizing the efficiency of parking management. This paper discusses the result of the needs analysis, design, and implementation of the Parking Guidance and Information Service System. Furthermore, it analyzes and compares the parking time and vehicle turnover rate before and after the system installation.

  • This paper studies on securing parking spaces and improving parking performance, by use of vehicle license plate investigation for parking turnover ratio. It is easy to test whether a parking lot is effectively used and its traffic flows smoothly or not.

Analysis of Basic Characteristics for Providing Parking Information (주차정보제공을 위한 기초자료 분석연구)

  • The objective of this research is to establish the relationship between the important variables necessary for real-time available parking space presumption algorithm for a parking lot information provision. So it investigated the variables that come relate to the algorithm and collected parking information for an algorithm plan. It analyzed variables inciuding average number of parked cars, average parked time, rate of turnover, occupancy, cumulative number of parked cars, and etc. of the parking lot. And it collected data regarding illegal parking, double space parking, searching car and it presumed the number of available parking spaces. As a result of the research, It appeared that the achieved accuracy is superier to existing provision system which only take the total input and output numbers. This will help drivers' judgement, and also the parking lot operation and management.

Demand Forecasting Method for Truck Rest Areas Beside National Highways (국도변 화물차휴게소 수요예측기법 연구)

  • The present study proposes a new methodology for predicting the demand for truck rest areas beside national highways. Previous demand forecasting methods were reviewed first in order to complement them with additional items. The results of the study are as follows. In the demand forecasting process, the primary task is to divide parking demands of trucks into short-term parking and long-term parking. Since short-term and long-term parking vary in utilization, congestion, and turnover rate, different influence factors should be considered according to parking time. Furthermore, the demand characteristics of rest and convenience facilities need to be reflected as well, because they in turn affect the demand for truck rest areas. In sum, the demand forecasting process for destination-type truck rest areas on national highways requires more attention than that for truck rest areas on expressways, and possible influences of various factors should be examined in this process.
