This study carried out unconfined compression tests to identify deformation and strength characteristics of clay. The conclusions are presented in the following. (1) The comparison of unconfined compression strengths according to specimen disturbance showed great differences, except for a few data. (2) The comparison of ${E_{50}}'s$ according to specimen disturbance proved that the two values were similar in general. (3) The comparison of strains at the peak according to specimen disturbance showed that non-shaped specimens had been slightly more disturbed in general. (4) The comparison of $E_{50}/q_u$ also suggested that non-shaped specimens had been slightly more disturbed in general.

Korea-China with the fastest speed Internet Broad Band, has achieved many progresses on Internet shopping. Especially, Korea has made a great effort on comparison website construction. A research prototype design and exploratory analysis are presented to assess success factors and impacts of Korea and China price comparison websites. For different user groups, the relationships between the characteristics of technology and tasks, usage, and organizational impacts were analysed. It shows us how to improve the applicability of fit-viability of the price comparison web sites in China after analysis. These results indicate a need for simple but highly functional price comparison applications. And we designed a sample model to include an interactive web service system for price comparison sites that complement existing information systems. This paper provides a basis for further research aiming to improve the design and management of business applications based on emerging technologies of web service and browser for information management.

Objectives : The present study has been undertaken to investigate the effects of Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat on prevention of osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats. Method : In this experiment, the rats were ovariectomized. Rats were administered by 2 kinds of medicine, Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat. Results : The levels of spinal bone mineral density was significantly increased in comparison with OVX group at 6 weeks in Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of serum osteoclacin and calcium didn't show significant changes in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of serum ALP showed significant decrease in comparison with OVX group at 3 weeks in Polygoni Multiflori Radix group, and showed significant decrease in comparison with OVX group at 6 weeks in Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of serum phosphorus showed significant decrease in comparison with OVX group at 3, 6 weeks in Polygoni Multiflori Radix, and showed significant decrease in comparison with OVX group at 6 weeks in Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of urine calcium and phosphorus didn't show significant changes in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of femoral and fibula-tibial calcium showed significant increase in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of femoral phosphorus showed significant increase in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. The levels of femoral and fibula-tibial ash weight showed significant increase in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. And the levels of fibula-tibial ash weight showed significant increase in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflori Radix group. The levels of body weight and uterus weight didn't show significant changes in comparison with OVX group in Polygoni Multiflon Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat group. Conclusion : Reviewing these experimetal results, it appears that Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat have efficacy on prevention of osteoporosis. In particular Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat showed good efficacy in comparison with Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparat.

Korea's national park system resembles that of Japan in many ways. In this study, National park Systems of the two countries are compared from a standpoint of their historical backgrounds to be formed and in aspect of its conservation by the main revision of national park laws in perspective. In conclusion it was found out that Korea's toleration-based regulations on building park amenities have gradually neglected the park conservation effort, whereas Japan's authorization-oriented regulations have streng thened their emphasis on park conservation. From the comparison as above, the polices to be modified for Korean national park are proposed as follows: 1. National park system, which values diversity of species, is to be proposed. For this, the Article 8 which allows a development of National parks, Enforcement Ordinance Article 4, The Article 18 of Law, Enforcement Regulation Article 6 & 7 of National Park Law should be reviewed for deletion and revision. 2. On the basis of the laws, zoning system should be readjusted by discriminated conservation policy. Also, the readjustment of zoning system should be enforced after thorough analysis and research on the value of natural resources in the national park. 3. Korea should closely review the recently revised Japanese laws on the national parks and nature revitalization promotion for applying them to conservation policy of Korean national parks.

In order to buy products through the Internet, consumers dissipate much time and efforts in collecting and comparing product information from various online shopping malls. Consumers can save their efforts by using price comparison sites, but there are some shortcomings in comparison shopping. Firstly, comparison sites do not show the lowest price of some products that are selling in shopping malls. Secondly, the product information provided by comparison sites is sometimes wrong. Thirdly, there are too many results. In order to overcome the shortcomings, we suggested a comparison shopping system based on RSS by using ontology matching. We used the current RSS standard for syntactic interoperability instead of suggesting new standards. Moreover, we used ontology matching for semantic interoperability to compare product information with different ontologies. The suggested ontology matching consists of three steps. The first step is finding exact sense from WordNet for a given product category, and the second step is searching for matching product category candidates from the products of RSS feeds. The final step is calculating similarities of the candidates with the target product category. From the experiments, we could get better recall rates that are suitable for e-commerce environments and the results show that our system is effective in product comparison.

In Korea, the high-speed train is one of the most important mass transportation. Due to its fast speed, the interior noise level is high and it is one of major reason for passenger complaints. In this study, the response of passengers to interior noise was evaluated using sound quality parameters. The effects of various parameters, such as train types, travel speed, rail road, on the calculated sound quality were investigated. The characteristics of interior noise were identified. The obtained results were compared to auditory experimental data. For precise comparison of noises of similar loudness but with different characteristics, paired comparison method was used. From the comparison, important parameters that have influence on the annoyance and loudness of the noise were determined.

In this study, a performance comparison of scroll compressor for various refrigerants(CFC-12, HCFC-22 and HFC-134a) has been numerically carried out. The thermodynamic properties have been calculated by using the recent experimental equations and the performance has been investigated qualitatively at the same geometric specifications and operating conditions of scroll compressor. The results are as follows; HFC-134a has the highest compression ratio of 5.40. The mass flow rate of HCFC-22, which affects the cooling capacity of refrigerant system, is higher than that of other refrigerants. HFC-134a has the highest adiabatic efficiency in comparison with CFC-12 and HCFC-22.
