Fatigue tests were performed to investigate the effect of ceramic coatings as in TiN and TiCN on fatigue crack growth properties of ceramic coated 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel with different coating thickness in laboratory air conditions. The experimental results are described with respect to a Paris equation, da/dN=C(.DELTA.K)$^{m}$ , where the crack growth rate of coated specimens provided as similar growth rate as that of the uncoated specimen regardless of coating thickness. Furthermore, it was observed that the type of coating layer had virtually no effect on crack growth rate in the full region of stress intensity factor range. And it was also appeared that the final crack length of TiCN coated specimens was short compared to that of TiN coated, and the substrate specimens, in which it was inferred due to lowering the toughness of coated material from high hardness of TiCN coating layer itself.
The experimental investigation focuses on an influence of artificial aging time in longitudinal butt welded Al 6013-T4 aluminum alloy on the fatigue crack growth resistance. The preferred welding processes for this alloy are frequently tungsten inert gas welding (TIG) process due to its comparatively easier applicability and better weldability than other gas metal arc welding. Fatigue crack growth tests were carried out on compact tension specimens (CT) in longitudinal butt TIG welded after T82 heat treatment was varied in three artificial aging times of 6 hours, 18 hours and 24 hours. Of the three artificial aging times, 24 hours of artificial aging time are offering better resistance against the growing fatigue cracks. The superior fatigue crack growth resistance preferred spatial variation of materials within each specimen in the Paris equation based on reliability theory and fatigue crack growth rate by crack length are found to be the reasons for superior fatigue resistance of 24 hours of artificial aging time was compared to other joints. The highest of crack propagation resistance occurs in artificial aging times of 24 hours due to the increase in grain size (fine grained microstructures).

Cracks present in pressure vessels have been reported to be mostly semi-elliptic surface cracks. The fatigue crack growth rates(FCGR) of surface cracks in the pressure vessel materials, API5A-K55 and SPV 500, used in this study were showed to be different depending on the direction of propagation of the surface crack. An equation for the prediction of the shape change of the surface crack was obtained by combining the Paris' relations for each direction of surface crack extension and agreed well with the experimental data. And also FGGR in both materials were evaluated and prediction of the shape change of surface crack were made using averaged stress intensity factor.
Recently the steel parts used for automiles and trains are required to be used under higher stress than ever before in need of the weight down. However, threr are a lot of problems with developing such of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And got the following characteristics from crack growth test carried out stress ratio. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Un-peening material. And Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peening processed operate resistance force of fatigue. So we cam obtain fallowings. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate on stage II is conspicuous with the size of compressive residual stress and is dependent of Paris equation. (2) Although the maximum compressive residual stress is deeply and widely formed from surface, fatigue life does not improve than when maximum compressive residual stress is formed in surface. (3) The threshold stress intensity factor range is increased with increasing compressive residual stress.

Recently, to reduce the noise and vibration levels of ships, high skewed marine propellers with thinner thickness are adopted widely, however, such propeller design trend causes to reduce the strength of blades. Propeller blades are rotating continuously in irregular wake field of ships. So, it is necessary to examine the strength of them precisely including from a viewpoint of fatigue strength. In present paper, the fatigue strength of propeller blades was investigated. Firstly, fatigue tests for Al Bronze, the representative propeller material, were carried out. The S-N curve was obtained for the assessment of the fatigue crack initiation life. And the material properties C, m for the fatigue crack propagation analysis based on the Paris' equation were derived. For the 2nd stage, the structural responses of propeller blades in irregular ship wake field was carried out using the finite element analysis code. And the fatigue strength of propeller blades were considered based on the calculated stress levels and material characteristics for fatigue strength.
The Monte Carlo criticality simulation of decoupled systems, as for instance in large reactor cores, has been a challenging issue for a long time. In particular, due to limited computer time resources, the number of neutrons simulated per generation is still many order of magnitudes below realistic statistics, even during the start-up phases of reactors. This limited number of neutrons triggers a strong clustering effect of the neutron population that affects Monte Carlo tallies. Below a certain threshold, not only is the variance affected but also the estimation of the eigenvectors. In this paper we will build a time-dependent diffusion equation that takes into account both spatial correlations and population control (fixed number of neutrons along generations). We will show that its solution obeys a traveling wave dynamic, and we will discuss the mechanism that explains this biasing of local tallies whenever leakage boundary conditions are applied to the system.

Rencentely, the request for the light weight is more incresed in the area of industrial environment and machinery and consistent effort is needed to accomplish high strength of material for the direction of light weight. we got the following characteristic from crack growth test carried out in the range of stress ration of 0.1, 0.3 and 0.6 by means of opening mode displacement. At the content stress ratio, the threshold stress intensity factor crack range ${\Delta}K_{th}$in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I) and dtress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$ in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) with an increase in ${\Delta}K$. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peening material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot peening processed operate resistance force of fatigue. So we can obtain fallowings. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate on stage II is conspicuous with the size of compressive residual stress and is depend on Paris equation. (2) Although the maxium compressive residual stress is deeply and widely formed from surface, fatigue life does not improve than when maxium compressive residual stress is formed in surface. (3) The threshold stress intensity factor range is increased with increasing compressive residual stress.
Generally, as the welded region of weld structures has the incomplete bead and welded deposit which are able to behave like the surface cracks occasinally, there is a high possibility that the fatigue fracture of the weld structures is due to the surface cracks on the wlded region. This study was done to investigate the effects of post weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the fatigue behaviors of the surface crack of the heat affected zone (HAZ) for the multi-pass welds under the repetitive pure bending moment. The obtained results are summarized as follows : 1. The crack grows to the depth direction initially as the number of cylces increase, the amount of crack length is increased for the surface dir3ction and cive versa for the depth direction. 2. The fatigue life is increased in a order of as weld, PWHT specimens and parent. 3. As the number of cycles increase, the crack length is increased to th surface direction. The increase of the depth length is blunted at the center of specimen thickness. 4. The fatigue crack growth of PWHT specimens to the surface direction is dependent upon the holding time and applied stress during PWHT. In order words, the crack growth rate decreases with the holding time and increases with the applied stress during PWHT. 5. As the crack grows, the aspect formed in the course of crack propagation approaches to semicircle for parent and ellipse with the largest semidiameter for PWHT ($1/4hr, 15kgf/mm^2$) 6. At depth direction, it is difficult to apply to the paris' equation because of the scattered data between the crack growth rate and the stress intensity factor range.
