Wind power systems have gained much attention due to the relatively high reliability, good infrastructures and cost competitiveness to the fossil fuels. Advances have been made to increase the power efficiency of wind turbines while less attention has been focused on structural integrity assessment of structural sub-systems such as towers and foundations. Among many parameters for integrity assessment, the most perceptive parameter may be the induced horizontal displacement at the hub height although it is very difficult to measure particularly in large-scale and high-rise wind turbine structures. This study proposes an indirect displacement estimation scheme based on the combined use of inclinometers and accelerometers for more convenient and cost-effective measurements. To this end, (1) the formulation for data fusion of inclination and acceleration responses was presented and (2) the proposed method was numerically validated on an NREL 5 MW wind turbine model. The numerical analysis was carried out to investigate the performance of the propose method according to the number of sensors, the resolution and the available sampling rate of the inclinometers to be used.
Design chart solution and table solution were proposed by Choi et al. (2019a), which conducted a parametric numerical study for the bored PHC piles socketed into weathered rocks through sandy soil layers. Based on the Choi et al. (2019a), the new prediction formulae for mobilized capacity components such as total capacity, total skin friction and skin friction of sand at the settlement of 5% pile diameter were proposed in this study. The proposed prediction formulae (EQ-G1) considers pile diameter, relative embedment length and ${\bar{N}}$ (i.e, corrected N) value and their verification results are as follows. The SRF calculated from the new proposed design method was 71~94%, which are greatly improved compared with results by the existing design method. The design efficiency of bearing capacity was in the range of reasonable design except 4 cases, and the design efficiency of the PHC pile was evaluated as 85%. Therefore, it is possible that allowable compressive load (Pall) of PHC pile can be utilized in the resonable design by means of the new proposed method using EQ-G1 equations. And the other new proposed equations of EQ-G2-3 can be utilized approximately in calculation of axial compressive bearing capacity components for prebored PHC pile.
Flat-plate building systems are utilized extensively for construction of apartments, hotels and office buildings because of short construction period, low floor-to-floor height and flexibility in plan design. Recently, to increase lateral seismic resistance of flat-plate building systems, wall-columns are used frequently. Therefore, to estimate strength of flat-plate column connection accurately, the effect of column section shape on the behavior of flat-plate column connection should be considered properly, In the present study, a numerical analysis was performed for interior connections of continuous flat-plate to analyze the effect of column section shape. For the purpose, a computer program for nonlinear FE analysis was developed, and the validity was verified. Through the parametric study, the variations of shear stress distribution around the connection were investigated. According to the result of numerical analysis, as the length of the cross section of column in the direction of lateral load increases, the effective area and the maximum shear strength providing the torsional resistance decrease considerably. Therefore, these effects should be considered properly to estimate the strength of flat-plate connection accurately.

Construction that over 70% of the structure consists of concrete gets bigger and higher gradually and the demand of that is increasing as well. However, it's not easy to supply young and skilled persons on construction site because of social avoidance phenomena about 3D occupation, so it causes serious problems like aging and shortage of technicians. To solve the problems, executives related to the construction field make a management effort in various ways such as construction period shortening, labor productivity improvement and good quality but recently, they have an increasing interest in the necessity of the modularization of the high-rise building and the automation of the engineering development for the strengthening of international competitive power as more active and long-term alternatives. Therefore, this study is to propose the roadmap in order to make lots of efforts in developing construction technologies of high-rise buildings by performing a foundation study, the strategy for 4-step research development, on modularized construction system of concrete structure of high-rise buildings through domestic and foreign preceding research analyses associated with optimal design modularization technique, module factory automation and assembly automation of modularized objects.

TPM program, which is a methodology for improving the management results through the management innovation activity of a company, has been widely introduced in the field of a service industry as well as a manufacturing industry. The main purpose of this study is to present the theoretical model by the relationship between active factors of TPM program and management results for a productivity increase, and to investigate the direct and indirect effects on the management of a company through a parametric study. A questionnaire survey of 300 companies that presently utilize the TPM program has been conducted. In order to verify the validity and the reliability of the contents of the questionnaire survey, a confirmatory factor analysis has been done. A frequency analysis has also been performed to examine the characteristics of the respondent. The factor analysis and the frequency analysis were done by using SAS Ver. 8.2, and the verification of a research model was done by using LISREL Ver. 8.52. The active factors of TPM in the research model consist of 'an independent preservation', 'an individual improvement', 'a planned reservation' and 'an education & training'. Among those active factors, the individual improvement and the education & training significantly influence on the facility efficiency and the organization and personnel management. The organization and personnel management has a greater influence on the management results. Therefore, the education and training for employes is most important for the improvement of the management results through TPM program, and the individual improvement activity is also important.
Tensile constitutive stress-strain model of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) in fib MC2010 was investigated. In order to model tensile behavior of SFRC, three point loading flexural tests were conducted on notched small beams according to BE-EN-14651. Design parameters for the constitutive model were determined from the flexural tests. Flexural test and finite element analysis were conducted on large SFRC beam without steel reinforcements and compared with each other. In addition, parametric study on the effect of compressive and tensile model, and characteristic length on flexural behavior of the SFRC beam was conducted also. In results, pre-peak load-displacement curves from the FE analysis was close to experimental curves but significant difference was shown in post-peak behavior. The reason of the difference is originated from the fact that the fiber distribution and orientation were not being properly considered in the MC2010 model. This study shows that modification and detail explanations on the orientation factor K in MC2010 might require to better reproduce the behaviour of large scale SFRC beams.

Even though the longitudinally stiffened laminated composite plates with closed section ribs should be an effective system for axially compressed members, the existing researches on the applications of closed-section ribs, especially for the laminated composite plates, are not sufficient. This study is aimed to examine the influence of the sectional stiffness of U-shaped ribs on the buckling modes and strengths of laminated composite plates. Applying the orthotropic plates with eight layers of the layup $[(0^{\circ})_4]_s$ and $[(0^{\circ}/90^{\circ})_2]_s$, 3-dimensional finite element models for the U-rib stiffened plates were setup by using ABAQUS and then a series of eigenvalue analyses were conducted. From the parametric studies, the minimum required ply thicknesses as well as the buckling strengths were presented for the analysis models. The buckling strengths were compared with the theoretical critical stress equation for simply supported plates based on the Classical laminated plate theory. This study will contribute to the future study for evaluating the minimum required stiffness and optimum design of U-rib stiffened plates.
Underground structures such as a tunnel have been considered as safer than structures on the ground during earthquake. However, severe damages of underground structures occurred at subway tunnel during 1995 Kobe Earthquake and such damages are gradually increased. In this study, a dynamic behavior of a cut and cover tunnel surrounded by weathered soils is investigated using Mohr-Coulomb Model. Parametric study was carried out for boundary conditions, tensile strength, and earthquake magnitudes. The results of numerical analyses in terms of ground deformations and stresses acting on the lining were quite dependent on the side boundary condition (free or fix conditions) and tensile strength of surrounding soils. The ground was deformed upward at the end of earthquake when the side boundary condition was fixed, whereas residual deformations were not predicted when it was free. When the tensile strength of a soil was set to the same as its cohesion, residual deformation was less than 1cm, regardless of side boundary conditions or input accelerations. In addition to that, stress conditions at the maximum deformation and end of earthquake were within an allowable range and considered as safe. Proper boundary conditions and material properties such as tensile strength are quite important because they may significantly impact on the results of dynamic analyses.
This study aimed to explore how effective explicit form-focused instruction (FFI) is in teaching the schwa vowel /ə/ to EFL students in a classroom setting. The participants were 25 female high school students, who were divided into the experimental group (n=13) and the control group (n=12). One female American also participated in the study for a speech sample as a reference. The treatment, which involves shadowing model pronunciation by the researcher and a free text-to-speech software and the researcher's feedback in a private session, was given to the control group over a month and a half. The speech samples, for which the participants read the 14 polysyllabic stimulus words followed by the sentences containing the words, were collected before and after the treatment. The paired-samples t test and non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used for analysis. The results showed that the participants of the experimental group in the post-test reduced the duration of the schwa by around 40 percent compared to the pre-test. However, little effect was found in approximating the participants' distribution patterns of /ə/ measured by the F1/F2 formant frequencies to the reference point, which was 539 Hz (F1) by 1797 Hz (F2). The findings of this study suggest that explicit FFI with multiple repetitions and corrective feedback is partly effective in teaching pronunciation.

Software reliability is one of the most basic and essential problems in software development. In order to detect the software failure phenomenon, the intensity function, which is the instantaneous failure rate in the non-homogeneous Poisson process, can have the property that it is constant, non-increasing or non-decreasing independently at the failure time. In this study, was compared the reliability performance of the software reliability model using the Landely lifetime distribution with the intensity function decreasing pattern and Erlang lifetime distribution from increasing to decreasing pattern in the software product testing process. In order to identify the software failure phenomenon, the parametric estimation was applied to the maximum likelihood estimation method. Therefore, in this paper, was compared and evaluated software reliability using software failure interval time data. As a result, the reliability of the Landely model is higher than that of the Erlang distribution model. But, in the Erlang distribution model, the higher the shape parameter, the higher the reliability. Through this study, the software design department will be able to help the software design by applying various life distribution and shape parameters, and providing software reliability attributes data and basic knowledge to software reliability model using software failure analysis.
