Thermal stability analysis of solar functionally graded plates on elastic foundation using an efficient hyperbolic shear deformation theory

  • In this research work, an exact analytical solution for thermal stability of solar functionally graded rectangular plates subjected to uniform, linear and non-linear temperature rises across the thickness direction is developed. It is assumed that the plate rests on two-parameter elastic foundation and its material properties vary through the thickness of the plate as a power function. The neutral surface position for such plate is determined, and the efficient hyperbolic plate theory based on exact neutral surface position is employed to derive the governing stability equations. The displacement field is chosen based on assumptions that the in-plane and transverse displacements consist of bending and shear components, and the shear components of in-plane displacements give rise to the quadratic distribution of transverse shear stress through the thickness in such a way that shear stresses vanish on the plate surfaces. Therefore, there is no need to use shear correction factor. Just four unknown displacement functions are used in the present theory against five unknown displacement functions used in the corresponding ones. The non-linear strain-displacement relations are also taken into consideration. The influences of many plate parameters on buckling temperature difference will be investigated. Numerical results are presented for the present theory, demonstrating its importance and accuracy in comparison to other theories.

슬림형 룸에어컨 설계 인자에 관한 연구 (Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Design Parameters of a Slim Room Air-conditioner)

  • Numerical simulations and experiments were conducted to analyze the design parameters for a slim room air-conditioner. These design parameters included a fan shape, a front panel, a scroll shape, a bell mouth, a distance between a fan and a heat exchanger, etc. Each design parameter was analyzed numerically and/or experimentally in terms of the flow rate and the sound pressure level, which should be the most influential factors for developing the slim room air-conditioner. The fan with a uniform height showed a better performance than that with a linearly varying height. It is recommended to use a front grill rather than a front panel according to sound pressure levels since the front panel itself is a huge resistance to the inlet flow. A redesigned scroll shape by changing the rotational direction of a fan also contributed a lot to lowering the sound pressure level. There existed a distance between a fan and a heat exchanger, where flow rates increased effectively.

Validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics Calculation Using Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model Flow Measurements in Primary Loop of Coolant in a Pressurized Water Reactor Model

  • The aim of this work is to simulate the thermohydraulic consequences of a main steam line break and to compare the obtained results with Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model (ROCOM) 1.1 experimental results. The objective is to utilize data from steady-state mixing experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations to determine the flow distribution and the effect of thermal mixing phenomena in the primary loops for the improvement of normal operation conditions and structural integrity assessment of pressurized water reactors. The numerical model of ROCOM was developed using the FLUENT code. The positions of the inlet and outlet boundary conditions and the distribution of detailed velocity/turbulence parameters were determined by preliminary calculations. The temperature fields of transient calculation were averaged in time and compared with time-averaged experimental data. The perforated barrel under the core inlet homogenizes the flow, and therefore, a uniform temperature distribution is formed in the pressure vessel bottom. The calculated and measured values of lowest temperature were equal. The inlet temperature is an essential parameter for safety assessment. The calculation predicts precisely the experimental results at the core inlet central region. CFD results showed a good agreement (both qualitatively and quantitatively) with experimental results.

산림식생에 따른 유역 물수지 영향 평가 (Assessment of Forest Vegetation Effect on Water Balance in a Watershed)

  • 본 연구에서는 산림식생에 따른 장기적인 측면에서의 유역 물수지 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 보청천 유역을 대상유역으로 선정하고, 준분포형 매개변수 모형인 SWAT 모형을 적용하여, 침엽수와 활엽수에 따른 증발산, 지표유출, 중간유출, 기저유출, 총 유출의 차이를 검토하였다. 먼저 SWAT 모형내 식생 생장 알고리즘을 수정하여 연중 일정한 엽면적지수를 갖는 국내 침엽수림의 생장 특성을 반영할 수 있도록 하였으며, 대상유역을 하나의 토지피복을 갖는 가상의 유역으로 설정한 후, 수정된 SWAT 모형을 적용하여 각 물수지 요소 변화를 모의한 결과, 침엽수가 활엽수에 비해 증발산 증가 및 유출 감소에 더 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 보다 정량적인 규명과 유출모형의 불확실성을 보완하기 위해서는 수종 외에 수령, 식재밀도, 식재위치, 토양특성자료 등 다양한 조건이 충분히 고려되어야 할 것이다.

임의분포 사하중에 정적변위를 갖는 변단면 보의 자유진동 (Free Vibrations of Arbitrary Tapered Beams with Static Deflections due to Arbitrary Distributed Dead Loads)

  • A numerical method is presented to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the arbitrary tapered beams with static deflection due to arbitrary distributed dead loads. The differential equation governing free vibration of such beams is derived and solved numerically. The double integration method using the trapezoidal rule is used to solve the static behaviour of beams loaded arbitrary distributed dead load. Also, the Improved Euler method and the determinant search method are used to integrate the differential equation subjected to the boundary conditions and to determine the natural frequencies of the beams, respectively. In the numerical examples, the various geometries of the beams are considered : (1) linearly tapered beams as the arbitrary variable cross-section, (2) the triangular, sinusoidal and uniform loads as the arbitrary distributed dead loads and (3) the hinged-hinged, clamped-clamped and hinged-clamped ends as the end constraints. All numerical results are shown as the non-dimensional forms of the system parameters. The lowest three natural frequencies versus load parameter, slenderness ratio and section ratio are reported in figures. And for the comparison purpose, the typical mode shapes with and without the effects of static deflection are presented in the figure. According to the numerical results obtained in this analysis, the following conclusions may be drawn : (1) the natural frequencies increase when the effects of static deflections are included, (2) the effects are larger at the lower modes than the higher ones and (3) it should be betteF to include the effect of static deflection for calculating the frequencies when the beams are supported by both hinged ends or one hinged end.

엔트로피 컨셉을 이용한 등류수로 마찰속도식 제안 (The Proposal for Friction Velocity Formula at Uniform Flow Channel Using the Entropy Concept)

  • 마찰속도란 벽면 가까이의 흐름에서 벽면의 마찰 응력과 밀도로 정의되는 속도의 차원을 갖는 양이다. 또한 마찰속도는 바닥 흐름에서 전단력을 나타내는 수리학적 매개변수이다. 게다가 개수로 설계나 하천, 해안에서 유사 및 물질의 거동을 파악하는데 정확한 마찰속도의 산정이 매우 중요하며 주 흐름방향의 혼합계수를 결정하는데 필수적인 요소이다. 이러한 마찰속도를 산정하는 방법들은 하상경사를 이용하는 방법, 레이놀즈 응력분포를 이용하는 방법, 점성저층에서 평균유속의 선형법칙을 이용하는 방법, 벽 전단 응력의 직접적 측정방법 등이 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 방법과 달리 확률통계 기법에 사용되는 엔트로피 개념에 접목하여 새로운 마찰속도공식을 제안하였고, 이를 검증하기 위해 Song의 실측 실험데이터를 이용하였다. 제안한 공식과 마찰속도 공식에 의해 산정된 마찰속도의 결정계수는 0.999-1.000로 잘 일치한 것으로 분석되었다.

MPEG-2 비디오 디코더 적합성 검사용 비트열의 제작 (Design of MPEG-2 Video Decoder Compliance Test Bitstreams)

  • MPEG-2 비디오 표준에서는 다양성을 보장하기 위하여 많은 변수들을 조절할 수 있다. MPEG-2 비트열을 통하여 전송되는 이러한 변수들이 MPEG 비디오 디코더에서 올바르게 해석되어, 전송한 것과 동일한 영상이 수신기에서 재생되는지 확인하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 검사할 디코더의 최정화면을 관측하여 MPEG 비디오 디코더의 정상 동작 여부를 간편하게 확인할 수 있도록 검사용 비트열을 설계하는 방식을 제안하였다. 제작된 비트열의 내부는 두 부분으로 구성된다. 하나는 검사할 변수를 변화시키며 검사 패턴을 만드는 부분이고, 다른 하나는 MPEG의 움직임 보상과 discrete cosine transform(DCT) 계수를 이용하여 이전 프레임에서 만들어진 검사 패턴을 상쇄시키는 부분이다. 이러한 원리를 적용하여 검사용 비트열을 제작하였고 스프트웨어 디코더로 분석한 결과를 제시하였다.

Using IGA and trimming approaches for vibrational analysis of L-shape graphene sheets via nonlocal elasticity theory

  • This paper is motivated by the lack of studies in the technical literature concerning to vibration analysis of a single-layered graphene sheet (SLGS) with corner cutout based on the nonlocal elasticity model framework of classical Kirchhoff thin plate. An isogeometric analysis (IGA) based upon non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) is employed for approximation of the L-shape SLGS deflection field. Trimming technique is employed to create the cutout in geometry of L-shape plate. The L-shape plate is assumed to be Free (F) in the straight edges of cutout while any arbitrary boundary conditions are applied to the other four straight edges including Simply supported (S), Clamped (C) and Free (F). The Numerical studies are carried out to express the influences of the nonlocal parameter, cutout dimensions, boundary conditions and mode numbers on the variations of the natural frequencies of SLGS. It is precisely shown that these parameters have considerable effects on the free vibration behavior of the system. In addition, numerical results are validated and compared with those achieved using other analysis, where an excellent agreement is found. The effectiveness and the accuracy of the present IGA approach have been demonstrated and it is shown that the IGA is efficient, robust and accurate in terms of nanoplate problems. This study serves as a benchmark for assessing the validity of numerical methods used to analyze the single-layered graphene sheet with corner cutout.

자장중 열처리에 의한 $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B/Fe_{3}B$ 초미세립 복합자성상의 자기특성 향상 (The Effect of Magnetic Field Treatment on Enhanced Exchange Coupling of $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B/Fe_{3}B$ Magnet)

  • $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B/Fe_{3}B$ 복합자성상을 근간으로 한 급냉제조된 합금을 외부 자장중에서 열처리를 함으로써 자기특성이 월등하게 좋아짐을 확인하였다. $Nd_{4}Fe_{73.5}Co_{3}(Hf_{1-x}-Ga_{x})B_{18.5}$ 조성 합금을 1~5 kOe 자장중에서 열처리함으로써 연자성의 기지상$(Fe_{3}B)$ 및 강자성상$(Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B)$의 결정입도가 20% 감소하였고, 그 결과 잔류자속밀도 $(B_{r})$ 및 최대자기에너지적, ${(B.H)}_{max}$가 30% 이상 증가하였다. 이러한 증가는 입도의 감소 뿐만 아니라 미세입도의 고른 분포에도 기인한 것으로 판단되었다. 보자력의 극대점은 잔류자속밀도와는 달리 특정결정입도에서 발생하며, 이러한 기구를 교환상호작용변수 와 연관하여 설명한다. $Nd_{4}Fe_{73.5}Co_{3}Hf_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}B_{18.5}$ 합금을 자장중 열처리한 결과 ${(B.H)}_{max}=15.8$ MGOe의 고에너지적을 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Envelope-Function Equation and Motion of Wave Packet in a Semiconductor Superlattice Structure

  • We present a new description of envelope-function equation of the superlattice (SL). The SL wave function and corresponding effective-mass equation are formulated in terms of a linear combination of Bloch states of the constituent material with smaller band gap. In this envelope-function formalism, we review the fundamental concept on the motion of a wave packet in the SL structure subjected to steady and uniform electric fields F. The review confirms that the average of SL crystal momentums K = ($k_x,k_y,q$), where ($K_x,k_y$) are bulk inplane wave vectors and q SL wave vector, included in a wave packet satisfies the equation of motion = $_0+Ft/h$; and that the velocity and acceleration theorems provide the same type of group velocity and definition of the effective mass tensor, respectively, as in the Bulk. Finally, Schlosser and Marcus's method for the band theory of metals has been by Altarelli to include the interface-matching condition in the variational calculation for the SL structure in the multi-band envelope-function approximation. We re-examine this procedure more thoroughly and present variational equations in both general and reduced forms for SLs, which agrees in form with the proposed envelope-function formalism. As an illustration of the application of the present work and also for a brief investigation of effects of band-parameter difference on the subband energy structure, we calculate by the proposed variational method energies of non-strained $GaAs/Al_{0.32}Ga_{0.68}As$ and strained $In_{0.63}Ga_{0.37}As/In_{0.73}Ga_{0.27}As_{0.58}P_{0.42}SLs$ with well/barrier widths of $60{\AA}/500{\AA}$ and 30${\AA}/30{\AA}$, respectively.
