코로나19 발생 이후 일부 지역대학 응급구조학과의 비대면 교육 현황 (Status of non-face-to-face learning at selected regional universities for paramedicine since the coronavirus infectious disease 2019 outbreak: a cross-sectional survey on undergraduates)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the current status of non-face-to-face education at universities for paramedicine and measure students' education satisfaction after the coronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted for paramedic students at the Chungcheong and Honam areas using Google Forms. Convenience sampling was used. A structured questionnaire was created and modified according to Park and Choi's test tool developed to review online lectures and practical courses. Results: A total of 202 students responded to the survey. The satisfaction level of online lectures was 3.06±1.12 (n=202) out of 5. Students experiencing online lectures responded that it was difficult to focus on the class, and the overall quality and lecture delivery should be improved. They also experienced technical difficulties. The satisfaction level of practical course lectures was 3.24±1.04 (n=133) out of 5. It was higher than those of other types of classes because it was conducted by the more familiar face-to-face lecture. Conclusion: This study has shown that the universities and instructors have examined a variety of methods in paramedic education after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, further research and consideration are required to improve paramedic education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

응급구조학과 학생들의 교통 및 재난에 대한 위험인식 및 안전실천에 관한 연구 (Risk perception and safety practice of paramedic students)

  • Purpose: This research aimed to provide baseline data for undergraduate safety education by evaluating paramedic student risk perception and safety practice behavior regarding transport and disaster-related accidents. Methods: A total of 367 paramedic students at three different universities were surveyed using questionnaires. Risk perception questions about hazard, feeling of dread, and uncontrollable factors regarding seven items in transport and disasters were asked on a 7-point scale. Safety practice behavior consisted of 14 transport-related questions and 12 disaster-related questions in 4-point scale. All data were analyzed using SPSS Window 21.0. Results: Of 367 surveyed, 54.8% (201) were females, and 28.9% (106) were freshmen. In risk perception, 'drunk driving' in transport was the highest on average obtaining 6.49 points for hazard and 5.12 points for the feeling of dread. In disasters, 'war' recorded the highest average with 6.61 points for hazard and 5.71 points for the feeling of dread. In safety practice behavior regarding transport and disasters, a higher awareness of the need for safety education correlated with a significantly higher the rate of safety practice behavior (p <.001 respectively). Conclusion: The results indicate that undergraduates have inadequate perception of risk in emergencies. Safety education programs are needed to raise awareness of risks and to increase the safety practice rate.

간호학과생과 응급구조학과생의 PTSD에 대한 태도와 지식 (Attitude and knowledge on PTSD of nursing and paramedic students in Korea)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify attitude and knowledge level on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among nursing and paramedic students. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted from December 1st to 20th in 2019. A total of 210 students participated from two universities in Korea. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests and one-way analysis of variance. Results: Students were positive about the government's spending on PTSD treatment (91.4%), and professional training (92.4%). PTSD patients were considered to be more dangerous (68.1%) and violent (42.4%) than the general population. There were no significant differences in attitude and general knowledge on PTSD between nursing and paramedic students. However, general knowledge on PTSD differed according to education experience on PTSD (t=2.04, p=.043). Knowledge scores for PTSD treatment differed significantly according to the academic major (t=2.02, p=.044), and education experience on PTSD (t=2.87, p=.005). Conclusions: The results of this study indicate nursing and paramedic students lack knowledge on PTSD. Therefore, developing curriculum regarding PTSD-related contents in undergraduate and continuing education in both departments is needed to provide better quality health care to people with PTSD.

  • 본 연구는 응급구조학과 학생들의 전공 교육과정에 대한 수행도, 중요도 및 요구도를 분석하여 응급구조학 전공자의 학습 역량을 강화하는데 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 충남지역의 3개 대학 응급구조학과 학생 217명으로 자료 수집기간은 2021년 12월 13일부터 12월 24일까지이며 1급 응급구조사의 직무 기반 핵심 역량을 바탕으로 구조화된 설문지에 응답한 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 응급구조학과 학생들의 학습 역량 강화를 위해서 Borich 요구도가 높은 '구급차량 관리 교육', '졸업 후 전문성 유지를 위한 교육', '병원 내 환자 감시 교육'과 LF 모델의 최우선 영역에 해당하는 '의료지도, 인계 교육', '내과적 응급환자 처치 교육', '병원 내 환자 감시교육', '병원 내 응급환자 진료보조 교육'에 해당하는 교과과정의 보강이 필요하다고 판단된다.

응급구조(학)과 학생들의 윤리적 가치관 관련 요인 (Factors related to ethical values among some paramedic students)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the level of ethical values and its related factors among some paramedic students. Methods: The subjects of this study were 480 paramedic students from five universities located in G-metropolitan city and J province. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The mean scores of level of ethical values, academic self-efficacy and self-esteem were $3.70{\pm}0.45$, $3.15{\pm}0.42$ and $3.60{\pm}0.70$, respectively. In the correlation analysis, ethical value level was significantly positively correlated with self-esteem (r=.195, p< .001) and academic self-efficacy (r=.156, p= .001), of domains in academic self-efficacy, self-regulation efficacy (r=.230, p< .001) and confidence (r=.105, p= .022). In multiple regression analysis, self-esteem (${\beta}=.163$, p= .026), task ease preferences (${\beta}=-.350$, p< .001) and confidence (${\beta}=.403$, p< .001) were significantly related to ethical value levels. In addition, subjects willing to participate in the bioethics education showed higher relevance to ethical values than indifferent subjects (${\beta}=2.751$, p= .003). Conclusion: Concrete and systematic education will be needed in order to foster the establishment of ethical values of the paramedic students. Additionally, to fulfill their roles and obligations as emergency medical technicians, in the field, various educational curricula based on simulated cases in the university should be introduced.

응급구조사 국가시험 응시 자격기준에 관한 고찰 (A review of the qualification criteria for the national examinations for emergency medical technicians)

  • Purpose: Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) have so far been trained as professionals under the same conditions, with no change in the 1995 Act. We aimed to find ways for them to secure expertise in accordance with social needs by strengthening the quality of the EMT education. Methods: This is a descriptive study comparing the operation status of the national emergency medical examination conducted by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute, and the national examinations of EMT paramedic and EMT basic. The scope of the national examinations for EMT was compared by subject and area. Results: The national written exam for EMT paramedic consists of five areas. EMT basic does not include basic medicine in three related subjects, 11 areas, and 18 detail areas. Paramedic care does not include advanced pediatric life support. In addition, nine areas and 20 detail areas are not included. Conclusion: The study suggests the need for institutional supplementation so that those who have completed EMT basic and the subjects prescribed by the ordinance of the Ministry of Health and Welfare at universities, etc., in the Higher Education Act can take the EMT paramedic national exam.

응급구조학과 대학생들의 윤리적 가치관과 의료정보보호에 대한 인식 및 실천 (Paramedical students' ethical values, awareness, and practice toward medical information protection)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ethical values of paramedics and their awareness and practice of medical information protection protocols. Methods: A survey was conducted involving 300 university students majoring in a four-year paramedical education program at two universities in Daejeon and Chungnam. Ultimately 220 surverys were subjected to analysis. Results: There was a significant difference in students' perception of medical information protection according to the need for education on medical information protection protocol (p=0.022); however, there were no significant differences in the practice of these protocols. The idealism tendency was positively correlated with the awareness of medical information protection (r=.332, p=.000) and the practice of medical information protection (r=.309, p=.001). A tendency toward relativism was significantly associated with the awareness of medical information protection (r=.138, p=.040) and not significantly related to the practice of medical information protection protocols. The tendency toward idealism tended to have a significant positive effect on the awareness of medical information protection protocols (β=.318, t=4.777, p=.000) and the degree of practice (B=.369, t=3.456, p=.001). Conclusion: Appropriate educational programs for medical information protection are needed. These programs should adhere to the characteristics of the department by linking with the training institution.

SimPad를 이용한 현장중심형 심폐소생술과 영상자가학습 심폐소생술의 질 비교 (A Comparison of Quality of SimPad based on Field Focus Type CPR and Video Self-lnstruction CPR)

  • 본 연구는 SimPad를 이용한 현장중심형 심폐소생술과 영상자가학습 심폐소생술의 질을 비교 분석하여 효과적인 심폐소생술 교육방법을 모색하고, 심폐소생술 교육의 기초자료로 제공하고자 시행하였다. 연구의 대상자 및 자료수집은 G광역시에 위치해 있는 G대학교의 심폐소생술 강의를 이수한 응급구조과 1학년 64명을 대상으로 2018년 11월 14일부터 2018년 12월 5일까지 시행하였으며, SPSS ver. 23.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 현장중심형 심폐소생술이 영상자가학습 심폐소생술보다 CPR 총 점수, 압박점수, 압박깊이, 가슴압박율, 압박속도, 인공호흡점수, 총 호흡수 영역에서 심폐소생술 질이 더 높게 나타났다. 따라서 현장중심형 심폐소생술을 이용하여 교육법이 기존의 영상자가학습 심폐소생술 교육법보다 심폐소생술 질을 향상시키는 것으로 파악할 수 있었으며 향후 심폐소생술 교육의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
