하둡 기반 대규모 작업처리 프레임워크에서의 Adaptive Parallel Computability 기술 연구 (A Study on Adaptive Parallel Computability in Many-Task Computing on Hadoop Framework)

  • 본 연구팀에서는 YARN 기반의 하둡 플랫폼에서 대규모의 태스크들로 구성된 Many-Task Computing(MTC) 응용들을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 신규 프레임워크로서 MOHA(Mtc On HAdoop)를 연구/개발해왔다. MTC 응용들은 수십만 개에서 수백만 개 이상의 대규모 태스크들로 구성되고 각 응용별로 자원의 사용 패턴이 다를 수 있기 때문에, 전체적인 시스템 성능 향상을 위해 MOHA-TaskExecutor(MTC 응용 태스크를 실행하는 주체)의 Adaptive Parallel Computability 기술 연구를 수행하였다. 이는 한 번에 하나의 태스크를 실행하던 기존의 처리 모델을 고도화하여 하나의 TaskExecutor가 동시에 여러 개의 태스크들을 실행함으로써 YARN Container의 병렬 컴퓨팅 능력을 극대화하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 각각의 TaskExecutor들이 "독립적이고, 동적으로" 동시에 실행시키는 MTC 응용 태스크들을 조정할 수 있도록 하였으며, 최적의 동시 실행 태스크 숫자를 찾기 위해서 Hill-Climbing 알고리즘을 활용하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 가상 구멍뚫기 작업의 표현을 위한 햅틱 렌더링 시스템을 제안하였다. 가상 모델을 만들기 위하여 영상 처리기법과 Delaunay 삼각형을 이용하였고, 실시간 어플리케이션에 적용하기 위해 간단하면서도 효율적인 후크의 법칙을 이용하여 힘을 생성하였다. 또한, 직렬형 메커니즘으로 표현하기 어려운 큰 힘을 표현하면서, 병렬형 메커니즘의 특이점 문제를 함께 해결하기 위하여 여유구동 6자유도 병렬형 메커니즘을 햅틱장치로 제안하였고 두 종류의 구멍뚫기 실험을 통하여 큰 힘을 표현할 수 있는 능력을 검증하였다.

  • 데이타 병렬 모델은 대규모 병렬성을 용이하게 얻을 수 있는 장점이 있지만, 데이타 분산으로 인한 통신 지연시간은 상당한 부담이 된다. 본 논문에서는 데이타 병렬 프로그램에 내재되어 있는 태스크 병렬성을 추출하여 이러한 통신 지연시간을 감추는데 이용할 수 있음을 보인다. 기존의 태스크 병렬성 추출은 데이타 병렬성을 고려하지 않았지만, 여기서는 데이타 병렬성을 그대로 유지하면서 태스크 병렬성을 활용하는 방법에 대해 설명한다. 데이타 병렬 루프를 포함할 수 있는 다수의 태스크 스레드들로 구성된 다중스레드 프로그램을 표현하기 위해 본 논문에서는 PCFG(Parallel Control Flow Graph)라는 표현 형태를 제안한다. PCFG는 단일 스레드인 원시 데이타 병렬 프로그램으로부터 HDG(Hierarchical Dependence Graph)를 통해 생성될 수 있으며, 또한 PCFG로부터 다중스레드 코드를 쉽게 생성할 수 있다.

아동의 전자게임 활동이 시각적 병행처리에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Playing Video Games on Children's Visual Parallel Processing)

  • This study examined the effects of short and long term playing of video gamer on children's visual parallel processing. All of the 64 fourth grade subjects were above average in IQ. They were classified into high and low video game users. Instruments were a visual parallel processing task consisting of imagery integration items, computers, and the arcade video game, Pac-Man. Subjects were pre-tested with a visual parallel processing task. After one week, the experimental group played video games for 15 minutes, but the control group didn't play. Immediately following this, all children were post-tested by the same task used on the pretest. The data was analyzed by ANCOVA and repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed that relaying short-term video games improved visual parallel processing and that long term experience with video games also affected visual parallel processing. there were no differences between high and low users in visual parallel processing after playing short term video games.

고강성 병렬형 로봇의 최적 여유 구동 (Optimal Redundant Actuation of Parallel Manipulators with High Operational Stiffness)

  • This paper presents the optimal redundant actuation of parallel manipulators for complicated robotic applications such as cutting grinding drilling and digging that require a high degree of operational stiffness as well as the balance between force applicability and dexterity. First by taking into account the distribution(number and location) of active joints the statics and the operational stiffness of a redundant parallel manipulator are formulated and the effects of actuation redundancy are analyzed, Second for given task requirements including joint torque limit task force maximum allowable disturbance and maximum allowable deflection the task execution conditions of a redundant parallel manipulator are derived and the efficient testing formulas are provided. Third to achieve high operational stiffness while maintaining moderate dexterity the redundant actuation of a parallel manipulator is optimized which determines the optimal distribution of active joints and the optimal internal joint torque, Finally the simulation results for the optimal redundant actuation of a planar parallel manipulator are given.

고성능 언어에서의 병렬 태스크 생성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Generation of Parallel Task in High Performance Language)

  • 포트란 M 등의 태스크 병렬언어에서는 프로그래머가 태스크 병렬구조를 사용하여 프로그래밍한다. 그런데 응용 프로그램에서 프로시쥬어간에 종속성 관계가 존재하는 경우 프로그래머가 이 종속성을 고려하여 태스크 병렬 프로그램을 작성하기는 쉽지 않다. 그러므로 컴파일러 단계에서 묵시적 병렬성을 추출한 후, 태스크 병렬언어에서 제공하는 병렬구조로 변환하는 병렬화가 필요하다. 그러나 현재의 태스크 병렬언어 컴파일러에서는 이러한 기능을 제공하지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 종속성 관계에 따라 각 경우를 분석하여, 순차 수행되어야하는 루프 구조에 대해 컴파일러 단계에서 포트란 M의 태스크 병렬 구조인 PROCESSDO 루프와 PROCESSES 블록구조로 병렬화하기 위해 묵시적 병렬성을 가지고 있는 경우를 추출하는 방안을 제안한다. 그리고 PROCESSDO 루프와 PROCESSES 블록 구조 모두로 병렬화 가능한 경우, 조건에 따라 어느 구조로 변환하는 것이 효과적인가를 분석한다.

Many-objective joint optimization for dependency-aware task offloading and service caching in mobile edge computing

  • Previous studies on joint optimization of computation offloading and service caching policies in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) have often neglected the impact of dependency-aware subtasks, edge server resource constraints, and multiple users on policy formulation. To remedy this deficiency, this paper proposes a many-objective joint optimization dependency-aware task offloading and service caching model (MaJDTOSC). MaJDTOSC considers the impact of dependencies between subtasks on the joint optimization problem of task offloading and service caching in multi-user, resource-constrained MEC scenarios, and takes the task completion time, energy consumption, subtask hit rate, load variability, and storage resource utilization as optimization objectives. Meanwhile, in order to better solve MaJDTOSC, a many-objective evolutionary algorithm TSMSNSGAIII based on a three-stage mating selection strategy is proposed. Simulation results show that TSMSNSGAIII exhibits an excellent and stable performance in solving MaJDTOSC with different number of users setting and can converge faster. Therefore, it is believed that TSMSNSGAIII can provide appropriate sub-task offloading and service caching strategies in multi-user and resource-constrained MEC scenarios, which can greatly improve the system offloading efficiency and enhance the user experience.

Dexterity modulation of parallel manipulators using joint freezing/releasing and joint unactuation/actuation

  • This paper presents the modulation of the dexterity of a parallel manipulator using joint freezing/releasing and joint unactuation/actuation. In this paper, individual limbs have redundant number of joints, and each joint can be frozen/released and unactuated/actuated, as needed. First, given a task, the restrictions on joint freezing and joint unactuation of a parallel manipulator are derived. Next, with/without joint freezing and/or joint unactuation, the kinematics of a parallel manipulator is formulated, based on which the manipulability ellipsoid is defined. The effects of joint freezing and joint unactuation on the manipulability are analyzed and compared. Finally, simulation results for a planar parallel manipulator are given. Joint mechanisms, such as joint freezing and joint unactuation, are rather simple to adopt into a parallel manipulator, but is quite effective to improve the task adaptability of the system.

병렬 DSP 시스템을 이용한 화력발전소 고속 시뮬레이션 (High-speed simulation for fossil power plants uisng a parallel DSP system)

  • A fossil power plant can be modeled by a lot of algebraic equations and differential equations. When we simulate a large, complicated fossil power plant by a computer such as workstation or PC, it takes much time until overall equations are completely calculated. Therefore, new processing systems which have high computing speed is ultimately needed for real-time or high-speed(faster than real-time) simulators. This paper presents an enhanced strategy in which high computing power can be provided by parallel processing of DSP processors with communication links. DSP system is designed for general purpose. Parallel DSP system can be easily expanded by just connecting new DSP modules to the system. General urpose DSP modules and a VME interface module was developed. New model and techniques for the task allocation are also presented which take into account the special characteristics of parallel I/O and computation. As a realistic cost function of task allocation, we suggested 'simulation period' which represents the period of simulation output intervals. Based on the development of parallel DSP system and realistic task allocation techniques, we cound achieve good efficiency of parallel processing and faster simulation speed than real-time.

  • A real-time control system, composed of the controlled processor and the controller computer(s), may have a variety of task types, some of which have tight timing-constraints in generating the correct control input. The maximum period of those task failures tolerable by the system is called the hard deadline, which depends on not only fault characteristics but also task characteristics. In the paper, we extend a method deriving the hard deadline in LTI system executing single task. An algorithm to combine the deadlines of all the elementary tasks in the same operation-mode is proposed to derive the hard deadline of the entire system. For the end, we modify the state equation for the task to capture the effects of task failures (delays in producing correct values) and inter-correlation. We also classify the type of executing the tasks according to operation modes associated with relative importance of correlated levels among tasks, into series, parallel, and cascade modes. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
