Autonomous guidance Using Ultrasonic Sensors for a Small Orchard Sprayer

  • Chemical application is very hazardous in confined spaces under the canopy ceiling in Korean vineyard. For a small orchard sprayer adaptable to such a working condition, a low-cost autonomous steering control system was developed using two ultrasonic sensors, two electrically-operated cylinders and 80196kc microprocessor. A distance ranging system timed the round-trip for each ultrasonic wave to travel against parallel targets, placed every 1.5m spacing along both sides of a desired path. A steering control algorithm of the autonomous operation began with ranging left and right targets and the heading was decided using difference between the distances. Electrically-operated cylinders actuated steering clutches to guide the sprayer. Evaluation tests showed that the orchard sprayer could travel within RMS value of 5cm along the desired path. Ground speed did not affect the performance of the autonomous guidance system at the speed ranges of 0.29~0.52m/sec.

  • In this paper, AC electric vehicle propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) using high power semiconductor, UM(Intelligent Power module) is proposed. 2-Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of system and the VVVF inverter control is used a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region. The proposed propulsion system is verified by experimental results with a 1,350kW converter and 1,100kVA inverter with four 210kW traction motors.

  • The process of conventional floating-point additio $n_traction operation consists of alignment, additio $n_traction, normalization, and rounding stage. Because rounding stage needs an incrementor or adder, it occupies much time and chip area. In addition, it needs additional time and hardware for renormalization which occurs in overflow due to rounding In this paper, floating-point adde $r_tractor performing rounding and additio $n_traction in parallel is presented by using the feature of additio $n_traction and carry select adder used in additio $n_tracting stage. Proposed floating point adde $r_tractor doesn't need time and incrementor nor adder for rounding. Also, renormalization doesn't occur since rounding is performed prior to normalization.to normalization.

  • Block matching motion estimation is the most widely used method for motion compensated coding of image sequences. Based on a two dimensional systolic array, VLSI architecture and implementation of the full search block matching algorithm are described in this paper. The proposed architecture improves conventional array architecture by designing efficient processing elements that can control the data prodeuced by efficient search window division method. The advantages are that 1) it allows serial input to reduce pin counts for efficient composition of local memories but performs parallel processing. 2) It is flexible and can adjust to dimensional changes of search windows with simple control logic. 3) It has no idel time during the operation. 4) It can operate in real/time for low and main level in MPEG-2 standard. 5) It has modular and regular structure and thus is sutiable for VLSI implementation.

  • Urban railway with rectifiers is connected by parallel circuits because substations are joined by the power rail. Thus, if an input voltage of a substation is increased, then the voltage of rectifiers is also increased, and which leads to an increase in the peak power of the substation. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new method reducing the peak power of substations by adjusting the operation number of rectifiers. Its feasibility is exemplified by some simulations performed for Incheon subway Line 1 and GA(Genetic Algorithm) method has been applied to obtain the optimal input. Simulation results show that peak power can significantly be reduced using the method proposed in this paper.

  • In this paper, development and performance characteristic of propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) using IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for 120km/h AC electric vehicle is proposed. The proposed propulsion system is comprised of IPM converter and inverter stack which uses natural air-cooling system, DC-Link, OVCRf unit and control unit. And also 2-Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of system and the VVVF inverter control is used a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region. The proposed propulsion system is verified by main line test results as well as combined test results.

  • In this paper, a load balancing problem among operators is considered, when one or more identical machines can be assigned to an operator. The operations of a job are separated into three categories : machine-controlled elements, operator-controlled elements and machine/operator-controlled elements. Machining or forming operations are included into the first category. The second category includes inspection and moving to another machine, and the last category includes setup and loading/unloading operation. The objective is to balance the workloads among operators under the constraints of available machine-time and operator-time. A hierarchical heuristic solution procedure is suggested for allocating jobs to each machine and allocating machines to each operator. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated with various data set.

  • 최근 통신 기술의 발달과 대용량화에 의하여 UPS장비를 모듈화하여 용량 증설 시 모듈을 추가로 설치하는 모듈형 UPS의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 모듈형 UPS는 용량 증설 및 수리 시 모듈 교체로 가능하고 높은 전력 밀도를 갖는 장점이 있다. 이러한 특징을 갖는 모듈형 UPS개발을 위해서는 병렬 제어가 필수이다. 본 논문에서는 저항성의 선로임피던스를 고려한 수하(Droop)제어를 이용하여 단일 모듈 33kVA를 최대 6대 병렬운전하여 총 200kVA로 동작하는 Module형 UPS의 병렬 운전기법을 제안한다.

Soft-Switching T-Type Multilevel Inverter

  • In order to improve the conversion efficiency and mitigate the EMI problem of conventional hard-switching inverters, a new soft-switching DC-AC inverter with a compact structure and a low modulation complexity is proposed in this paper. In the proposed structure, resonant inductors are connected in series for the arm branches, and resonant capacitors are connected in parallel for the neutral point branches. With the help of resonant components, the proposed structure achieves zero-current switching on the arm branches and zero-voltage switching on the neutral point branches. When compared with state-of-art soft-switching topologies, the proposed topology does not need auxiliary switches. Moreover, the commutation algorithm to realize soft-switching can be easily implemented. In this paper, the principle of the resonant operation of the proposed soft-switching converter is presented and its performance is verified through simulation studies. The feasibility of the proposed inverter is evaluated experimentally with a 2.4-kW prototype.
