In this paper, we designed, fabricated and tested an UHF band cylindrical dipole array antenna. In the proposed antenna, cylindrical dipoles were vertically arranged in four stages. A parallel structure feeding circuit was installed inside the cylindrical dipole and mounted so as to be broadband matching. The feeding circuit was installed at the center of the cylindrical dipole to optimize the gain flatness characteristic of the azimuth direction omnidirectional radiation pattern. Minimizing the difference between the signals branched from the feeding circuit and realizing the symmetry of the radiation pattern. The required specifications are more than 11.2% bandwidth in UHF band, above 6dBi antenna gain, standing wave ratio of 2:1 or less, less than ${\pm}1dB$ gain flatness in azimuth radiation pattern, more than 13 degrees in elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beamwidth. We confirmed the possibility of implementation through M&S and verified the result of M&S through production and testing. The test results are 11.2% bandwidth in the UHF band, 6.30 to 8.31 dBi gain, 1.53:1 standing wave ratio or less, within ${\pm}0.2dB$ gain flatness in the azimuth radiation pattern, elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beam width was 15.62 to 15.84 degrees. The test result meets all requirements specifications.

A 2D/3D complex optical system and its vision inspection algerian is proposed and implemented as a single probe system for high speed, precise vision inspection of the solder pastes. One pass un length labeling algorithm is proposed instead of the conventional two pass labeling algorithm for fast extraction of the 2D shape of the solder paste image from the recent line-scan camera as well as the conventional area-scan camera, and the optical probe path generation is also proposed for the efficient 2D/3D inspection. The Moire interferometry-based phase shift algerian and its optical system implementation is introduced, instead of the conventional laser slit-beam method, for the high precision 3D vision inspection. All of the time-critical algorithms are MMX SIMD parallel-coded for further speedup. The proposed system is implemented for simultaneous 2D/3D inspection of 10mm${\times}$10mm FOV with resolutions of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for both x, y axis and 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for z axis. Experiments conducted on several nBs show that the 2D/3D inspection of an FOV, excluding an image capturing, results in high speed of about 0.011sec/0.01sec, respectively, after image capturing, with $\pm$1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ height accuracy.
Purpose: Length measurement from maxillary anterior teeth root tip to nasal floor is incorrect in panoramic radiography. Comparison of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic radiography should be helpful in determining the vertical length. Methods: Sixty nine patients were taken CBCT and panoramic radiography of the maxillary anterior. First measurement is length of parallel lines from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on CBCT. Second measurement is length of perpendicular lines from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on CBCT. Third measurement is length from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on panoramic radiographys. Results: In the first measurement of the maxillary central incisors, an average of $11.36{\pm}2.49$ mm in males and $10.49{\pm}2.17$ mm in females. In the second measurement of the maxillary central incisors, $10.41{\pm}2.42$ mm in males and $9.18{\pm}2.08$ mm in females. In the third measurement of the maxillary central incisors, $10.71{\pm}2.20$ mm in males and $9.27{\pm}2.10$ mm in females. In the first measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, an average of $13.40{\pm}2.04$ mm in males and $11.96{\pm}2.20$ mm in females. In the second measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, $11.25{\pm}1.82$ mm in males and $10.06{\pm}1.68$ mm in females. In the third measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, $11.47{\pm}2.01$ mm in males and $10.13{\pm}1.70$ mm in females. Conclusion: The vertical length from root tip to nasal floor was longer in male than female (P>0.05). First measurement was longer than third measurement (P<0.05). This is the actual placement of the implant site measured on the vertical length than the length of the panorama means that there are a few more free. The first measurement was longer than 114% over the third measurement.

In this paper, the planar, compact, and broadband phased array antenna system for IMT-2000 applications has been investigated. Two methods far designing a low-cost and low-complex beam-farming network are proposed. First, a new compact and broadband phase shifter with continuously controlled phase bits is designed by using parallel coupled lines. Second, its equivalent phase delay line is suggested to be capable of replacing the complex phase shifter with a reference phase bit on a phased array antenna. For the purpose of achieving the broadband system, in addition to the broadband phase shifter, a wide-slot antenna with a ground reflector is utilized as an element antenna. Therefore, the phased array antenna system has achieved compact size, broad bandwidth, and wide steering angle, although it has low complexity and low fabrication cost. The 3${\times}$1 phased array antenna system has a compact size of 1.6 λ${\times}$ l.6 λ, which is the sufficient ground plane of the wide-slot antenna. Experimental results present that the S$\_$11/ has less than 15 dB within the band and its radiation patterns on an E-plane have the capability of steering an antenna beam from -29$^{\circ}$to +30$^{\circ}$.

This study describes the characteristics of accretion and scour around artificial reefs in Korea. The survey for accretion and scour was made at a dice reef set consisting of 137 dice reefs. The volume of a dice reef unit is 8 $m^3$. The reef set was placed on the muddy sand at 21.6 m in November of 1999. Equipment used in the survey includes Side Scan Sonar, Multi Beam Echo Sounder, Sub-Bottom Profiler and water current meter. According to the results, the artificial reefs are heaped up at two to three times (4 m) the height of the dice reef. The maximum current around the artificial reefs was 81.5 cm/sec at the ebb tide and 72.7 cm/sec at the flood tide. Scour around artificial reefs occurs upstream to the flow while accretion is formed at wake zone in the downstream. The height of accretion ranges from 2.4 to 3.0 m. The crest of the accretion is formed at the distance of about 10 m from the edge of the reef. The slope of accretion is formed steeply at the vicinity of the reef which is at right angles to the direction of main current, and grows gently lower with the increased distance from the reef. Scour is continuously caused by upwelling from the reef set and by side currents that flow parallel to side of the accretion. Also, scour takes place on the deposited sediment rather than on the remaining bottom sediments. This means that, once fully formed, the depth of scour gully on both sides to the direction of main current hardly changes.
The Monte Carlo calculation is the most accurate means of predicting radiation dose, but its accuracy is accompanied by an increase in the amount of time required to produce a statistically meaningful dose distribution. In this study, the effects on calculation time by introducing variance reduction techniques and increasing computing power, respectively, in the Monte Carlo dose calculation for a 6 MV photon beam from the Varian 600 C/D were estimated when maintaining accuracy of the Monte Carlo calculation results. The EGSnrcbased BEAMnrc code was used to simulate the beam and the EGSnrcbased DOSXYZnrc code to calculate dose distributions. Variance reduction techniques in the codes were used to describe reducedphysics, and a computer cluster consisting of ten PCs was built to execute parallel computing. As a result, time was more reduced by the use of variance reduction techniques than that by the increase of computing power. Because the use of the Monte Carlo dose calculation in clinical practice is yet limited by reducing the computational time only through improvements in computing power, introduction of reducedphysics into the Monte Carlo calculation is inevitable at this point. Therefore, a more active investigation of existing or new reducedphysics approaches is required.
The crystallinity and the structure of heteroepitaxially grown $Y_2O_3$ films on the silicon substrates deposited by Ultra High Vacuum Ionized Cluster Beam(UHV-ICB) were investigated by Back-scattering Spectroscopy(BS)/channeling. The channeling minimum values, $X_{min}$, of the $Y_2O_3$ films deposited by other methods were 0.8~0.95 up to the present, which indicates amorphous or highly polycrystalline nature of the $Y_2O_3$ films. On the contrary, the channeling minimum value of heteroepitaxially grown $Y_2O_3$ films on Si(100) and Si(111) deposited by UHV-ICB are 0.28 and 0.25 respectively. These results point out fairly good crystalline quality. It is also observed that the top region of $Y_2O_3$ films have less crystalline defects than the bottom region regardless of the crystal direction of the Si substrates. The axis of $Y_2O_3$<111> epitaxially grown on Si(111) is tilt by $0.1^{\circ}$ with respect to Si<111>. That of $Y_2O_3$<110> on Si(100) is parallel to the Si<001>. The $Y_2O_3$ film on Si(100) grew with single domain structure and that on Si(111) grew with double domain structure. From the result of oxygen resonance BS/channeling, the oxygen atoms in heteroepitaxially grown $Y_2O_3$ film on Si(111) substrate have the crystallinity, but that on Si(100) shows almost channeling amorphous state.
Low energy high resolution (LEHR) collimator is the most widely used collimator in SPECT imaging. LEHR has an advantage in terms of image resolution but has a difficulty in acquiring high sensitivity due to the narrow hole size and long septa height. Throughput in SPECT can be improved by increasing counts per second with the use of high sensitivity collimators. The purpose of this study is to develop a system model in iterative image reconstruction to recover the resolution degradation caused by high sensitivity collimators with bigger hole size. We used fan-beam model instead of parallel-beam model for calculation of detection probabilities to accurately model the high sensitivity collimator with wider holes. In addition the weight factors were calculated and applied onto the probabilities as a function of incident angle of incoming photons and distance from source to the collimator surface. The proposed system model resulted in the equivalent performance with the same counts (i.e. in shortened acquisition time) and improved image quality in the same acquisition time. The proposed method can be effectively applied for resolution improvement of pixel collimator of next generation solid state detectors.

The various output characteristics of a pulsed Ti:sapphire laser oscillator with a plane-parallel resonator, pumped longitudinally by the second harmonic wave of a Nd:YAG laser, and the output of a Ti:sapphire laser amplifier operated along the single path of the oscillator beam were investigated and analyzed. In the case of the oscillator, we measured the spectrum, the pulse buildup time, the temporal duration time of the pulse, and the output energy according to the variation of the pumping energy, resonator length, and the reflectance of the output coupler. And, in the case of the amplifier, we investigated and analyzed the output energy of the amplifier as a function of the time difference between the two pump beams of the oscillator and the amplifier, the pumping energy of the oscillator, and the pumping energy of the amplifier When pump energies of both the oscillator and the amplifier were 18 mJ/pulse, we could find that the output energy of the amplifier increased linearly and gradually up to the time difference of 35 ns. Finally, we determined that the slope efficiencies of the oscillator and the amplifier were 23.5 % and 11.6 %, respectively.
We compared the characteristics of Siemens virtual wedge device with physical wedges for clinical application. We investigated the characteristics of virtual and physical wedges for various wedge angles (15, 30, 45, and 60) using 6- and 15-MV photon beams. Wedge factors were measured in water using an ion chamber for various field sizes and depths. In case of virtual wedge device, as upper jaw moves during irradiation, wedge angles were estimated by accumulated doses. These measurements were performed at off-axis points perpendicular to the beam central axis in water for a $15\;cm\;{\times}\;20\;cm$ radiation field size at the depth of 10 cm. Surface doses without and with virtual or physical wedges were measured using a parallel plate ion chamber at surface. Field size was $15\;cm\;{\times}\;20\;cm$ and a polystyrene phantom was used. For various field sizes, virtual and physical wedge factors were changed by maximum 2.1% and 3.9%, respectively. For various depths, virtual and physical wedge factors were changed by maximum 1.9% and 2.9%, respectively. No major difference was found between the virtual and physical wedge angles and the difference was within 0.5. Surface dose with physical wedge was reduced by maximum 20% (x-ray beam : 6 MV, wedge angle : 45, SSD : 80 cm) relative to one with virtual wedge or without wedge. Comparison of the characteristics of Siemens virtual wedge device with physical wedges was performed. Depth dependence of virtual wedge factor was smaller than that of physical wedge factor. Virtual and physical wedge factors were nearly independent of field sizes. The accuracy of virtual and physical wedge angles was excellent. Surface dose was found to be reduced using a physical wedge.
