  • Cutouts in the beams or plates are often unavoidable due to inspection, maintenance, ventilation, structural aesthetics purpose, and sometimes to lighten the structures. Therefore, there will be a substantial reduction in the strength of the structure due to the introduction of the cutouts. However, these cutouts can be reinforced with the different patterns of ribs (stiffener) to enhance the strength of the structure. The present study highlights the influence of the elliptical cutout reinforced with a different pattern of ribs on the stability performance of such stiffened composite panels subjected to non-uniform edge loads by employing the Finite element (FE) technique. In the present formulation, a 9-noded heterosis element is used to model the skin, and a 3-noded isoparametric beam element is used to simulate the rib that is attached around a cutout in different patterns. The displacement compatibility condition is employed between the plate and stiffener, and arbitrary orientations are taken care by introducing respective transformation matrices. The effect of shear deformation and rotary inertia are incorporated in the formulation. A new mesh configuration is developed to house the attached ribs around an elliptical cutout with different patterns. Initially, a study is performed on the panels with different stiffener schemes for various ply orientations and for different stiffener depth to width ratios (ds/bs) to determine an optimal stiffener configuration. Further, various parametric studies are conducted on an obtained optimal stiffened panel to understand the effect of cutout size, cutout orientation, panel aspect ratio, and boundary conditions. Finally, from the analysis, it can be observed that the arrangement of the stiffener attached to a panel has a major impact on the buckling capacity of the stiffened panel. The stiffener's depth to width ratio also significantly influences the buckling characteristic.

  • The drive towards lowering costs and increasing frame rates results in new panel designs and thereby new photomasks designs. One common way to reduce cost is to reduce the number of production steps. For this multi tone photomasks (MTM) are needed. MTMs contain more information and increases photomask placement requirements. Increasing frame rates lead to shrinking geometries. The combination of HTM and shrinking geometries drastically increases the requirements imposed on the pattern generators used to print the photomasks. New methods are therefore needed to enable future photomask manufacturing. This paper introduces three advanced image quality enhancing methods.

  • Chemical machining(CHM) is a special process which material removed by contact of strong etchant. The application as industrial process was started from aircraft industry after 2nd world war. Chemical milling, one of the CHM process, initially became commercial bussiness and it was called chem-mill. Even today, this process widely used to remove the material from aircraft wings and fuselage panel in aircraft industry. In this study, it is attempted to design the cylinder pattern which minimize the weight within the allowable stress using chemical milling.

  • Corrugated board is composed of cellulose fibers which are arranged with the same direction as the board manufactured. The direction is classified with machine direction (MD) and cross-machine direction (CD). Therefore, corrugated board is orthotropic material that has totally different strength properties at each direction and especially, at machine direction, the mechanical properties of fiberboard is superior. The compression strength of the corrugated fiberboard boxes is very important information to the manufacturers and the end users. This study was carried out to design the optimum pattern, size, and location of ventilating hole for ventilating container through the finite element analysis. The optimum pattern and location of ventilating and hand hole were vertical oblong, a short distance to the right and left from the center of panel, and center or a short distance to the top of both sides, respectively. We identified the effect on both stress dispersion and stress level from the analysis of redisigned hand hole.

  • Powder blasting technique was introduced to micromachine the micro patterns of circular and rectangular shape in LGP mould. The machinability of these patterns and matt treatment by powder blasting were verified. Then a prototype of LGP was injected by the developed LGP mould with micro patterns. Shape analysis of micro patterns and performance test of the injected LGP were carried out. The results showed printless LGP with micro patterns could be produced by just single injection using the mould with micro patterns, and powder blasting technique could be successfully applied to micrornachining of micro patterns and matt treatment of LGP mould.

  • Moir$\acute{e}$s are a natural interference phenomenon which occurs whenever a transparent regular pattern plate is overlapped on another regular pattern plate. In the contact-type 3 dimensional imaging systems, the moires are inherent because an image display panel is seen through a viewing zone forming optical plate. The mathematical analysis of moires in the systems shows that they can be minimized by the proper selection of overlapping angles between them. The angle is different for pixels with different aspect ratios.

  • The effects of an auxiliary address pulse driving scheme, in which an auxiliary short pulse was applied to the address electrode during a sustain-period, was examined under the various image patterns of the 42-inch WVGA ac-PDP. When the auxiliary address pulse driving scheme was applied, the luminance of the red, green and blue cells were measured respectively. The luminance, luminous efficiency and current were measured under the full-white pattern of the 42-inch ac-PDP. As a result, the luminance of blue cell was improved approximately by 17 %, whereas the luminous efficiency of the full-white pattern was improved approximately by 34 % without a misfiring discharge in comparison with conventional driving scheme.

  • By tilting the reference mirror of Twynman-Green interferometer having a reference mirror and a moving mirror, firinge pattern composed of bright and dark parallel lines can be obtained and the fringe pattern is shifted according to the displacement of the mowing mirror. Several studies are executed for displacement measurement by detecting the intensity of the fringe with photo-diodes having small detecting area. In this study, to improve the sensitivity and robustness, the intensity of fringe is detected by using a large-area quadratic photo-diode masked with a grating panel having four kinds of binary grating having phase-difference of 0, {\pi}$/4, {\pi}$/2, 3 {\pi}$/4. The phase of the fringe is calculated with a simple 4-buckets algorithm. A experimental result shows that standard deviation of 5.653 nm is obtained comparing with a capacitive type gap sensor having nearly 1 nm accuracy.
