측면 단동 릴리즈 시스템을 이용한 자동차용 루프 캐리어 개발 프로세스 (The Development Process of Vehicle Roof Carrier using One Side Release System)

  • This paper presents the development process of roof carrier assembly using a one side release system for a vehicle. An RV(Recreational Vehicle) or SUV(Sports Utility Vehicle) has a roof carrier system on an upper surface of a roof panel for loading large or long size baggage. Such a roof carrier system is comprised of a roof rack longitudinally mounted on a roof panel and cross bar perpendicularly installed in the horizontal direction. Several locking mechanisms used in most vehicle roof carrier systems are composed with both side releasable locking ones. The obvious drawback to this arrangement is that when the user desires to reposition the cross bar, first one of the locking members must be unlocked and then the user must walk around to the opposite side of the vehicle to unlock the other member. In this paper, we proposed a newly locking mechanism, which allows a user simultaneously place both locking members of the roof carrier in locked and unlocked positions. In order to estimate design compatibility, structural and modal analysis is performed. Furthermore, a prototype based on the proposed design has been made, and then durability test carried out. From the simulation and experimental results, the proposed roof carrier system is proved effective and safe.

  • Automatic FPC punching instrument for the improvement of working condition and cost saving is introduced in this paper. FPC(flexible printed circuit) is used to detect the contact position of K/B and button like a cellular phone. Depending on the quality of the printed ink and position of reference punching point to the FPC, the resistance and current are varied to the malfunctioning values. The size of reference punching point is 2mm and the above. Because the punching operation is done manually, the accuracy of the punching degree is varied with operator's condition. Recently, The punching accuracy has deteriorated severely to the 2mm punching reference hall so that assembly of the K/B has hardly done. To improve this manual punching operation to the FPC, automatic FPC punching system is introduced. Precise mechanical parts like a 5-step stepping motor and ball screw mechanism are designed and tested and low cost PC camera is used for the sake of cost down instead of using high quality vision systems for the FA. 3D Mechanical design tool(Pro/E) is used to manage the exact tolerance circumstances and avoid design failures. Simulation is performed to make the complete vision based punching machine before assembly, and this procedure led to the manufacturing cost saving. As the image processing algorithms, dilation, erosion, and threshold calculation is applied to obtain an exact center position from the FPC print marks. These image processing algorithms made the original images having various noises have clean binary pixels which is easy to calculate the center position of print marks. Moment and Least square method are used to calculate the center position of objects. In this development circumstance, Moment method was superior to the Least square one at the calculation of speed and against noise. Main control panel is programmed by Visual C++ and graphical Active X for the whole management of vision based automatic punching machine. Operating modes like manual, calibration, and automatic mode are added to the main control panel for the compensation of bad FPC print conditions and mechanical tolerance occurring in the case of punch and die reassembly. Test algorithms and programs showed good results to the designed automatic punching system and led to the increase of productivity and huge cost down to law material like FPC by avoiding bad quality.

유한요소법에 의한 평면 TV 새도우마스크의 마이크로포닉 현상 해석 (Analysis of Microphonic Phenomenon for Shadow Mask in Flat TV by FEM)

  • A shadow mask inside the Braun tube of a TV is sustained by springs attached to the glass panel, its vibration cause the picture image to discolor, which is called the microphonic phenomenon. It is found that it results from resonance when the natural frequency of the shadow mask coincides with that of built-in speaker sound. This paper describes experimental and analytical investigations by using FEM on the vibration problem of the shadow mask assembly. The simulation scheme may be efficiently used to develop a new design for a large-screen flat TV.

  • Very big springback in advanced high strength steel(AHSS) sheets invokes undesired shape defects, which can be eliminated by the tool surface correction method or the forming process control method. Since the springback reduction by controlling the forming process is limited, in this study, the die correction method which finds die correction from the relationship between die design variable and springback is introduced to achieve springback reduction and is applied to the automotive side rail to reduce the springback of 75.8% within the assembly limit of 1 mm.

Prediction of Welding Deformation of Ship Hull Blocks

  • Welding deformation reduces the accuracy of ship hull blocks and decreases productivity due to the need for correction work. Preparing an error-minimizing guide at the design stage will lead to higher quality as well as higher productivity. Therefore, developing a precise method to predict the weld deformation is an essential part of it. This paper proposes an efficient method for predicting the weld deformation of complicated structures based on the inherent strain theory combined with the finite element method. A simulation of a stiffened panel confirmed the applicability of this method to simple ship hull blocks.

  • The very big springback of advanced high strength steel(AHSS) sheets invokes undesired shape defects, which can be generally eliminated by die correction or process parameter control. The springback reduction by controlling the forming process parameters is easy for the application, but limited for the bulky achievement. In this study, the effective die correction method, which obtains the modification of tool shape from the relationship between die design variable and springback, is introduced and is applied to the TWB tool of automotive side rail to show the validity and usefulness. Among the die correction trials repeatedly performed, the first trial is carried out by correcting the tool shape to the opposite direction to the springbacks of several tool sections. Next trials are done by extrapolating the springbacks of among the original tool uncorrected and the tools corrected negative amounts of the springback and by finding tool shapes without springbacks. After the angle of side wall and radius of curvature of horizontal bottom floor are chosen as design variables in the tool design of side rail, the tool shape is corrected 3 times. The accuracy of final shape within the assembly limit of 1mm and the springback reduction of 75.8% compared to the uncorrected tool are achieved.

FPSO 선의 PAU SEAT 강도 해석 (Strength Analysis for PAU Seat of FPSO)

  • This paper presents the results of the reliability analysis of PAU (Preliminary Assembly Unit) seat of the floating Production Storage and Off1-loading Unit (FPSO) The main aim of the analysis was to demonstrate that a sufficient safety of structural members is guaranteed against PAU loads, internal and external pressure, and hull girder moments. Topside loads for PAU design are based on owner's request. According to the seat type, topside loads are classified into maximum values of same seat type for design efficiency. Totally, 26 loading cases for each model are used for this analysis with the combination of the reactions of PAU loafing and the hull girder bending moments according to LR offshore (2). The analysis results are evaluated according to the acceptance criteria for yielding given in LR offshore and guidance note (3) and The panel buckling resistance is verified by LR offshore and SDA (4). For 900,000 bbls FPSO, the PAU support foundation analysis using 3-D F.E. model is carried out to verify the structural adequacy of PAU foundation and structure members in way of PAU. The modified structures in way of PAU support are safe against considered load cases and all stresses in way of PAU support are within design criteria.

Critical buckling coefficient for simply supported tapered steel web plates

  • Tapered girders emerged as an economical remedy for the challenges associated with constructing long-span buildings. From an economic standpoint, these systems offer significant advantages, such as wide spans, quick assembly, and convenient access to utilities between the beam's shallow sections and the ceiling below. Elastic-local buckling is among the various failure modes that structural designers must account for during the design process. Despite decades of study, there remains a demand for efficient and comprehensive procedures to streamline product design. One of the most pressing requirements is a better understanding of the tapered web plate girder's local buckling behavior. This paper conducts a comprehensive numerical analysis to estimate the critical buckling coefficient for simply supported tapered steel web plates, considering loading conditions involving compression and bending stresses. An eigenvalue analysis was carried out to determine the natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes of tapered web plates with varying geometric parameters. Additionally, the study highlights the relative significance of various parameters affecting the local buckling phenomenon, including the tapering ratio of the panel, normalized plate length, and ratio of minimum to maximum compressive stresses. The regression analysis and optimization techniques were performed using MATLAB software for the results of the finite element models to propose a separate formula for each load case and a unified formula covering different compression and bending cases of the elastic local buckling coefficient. The results indicate that the proposed formulas are applicable for estimating the critical buckling coefficient for simply supported tapered steel web plates.

지역 건축물의 에너지 자립을 위한 패시브 외단열 복합패널 개발 연구 (Development of the Passive Outside Insulation Composite Panel for Energy Self-Sufficiency of Building in the Region)

  • The study aims to address the energy crisis and realize self-sufficiency of building as part of local energy independence, breaking away from a single concentrated energy supply system. It is intended to develop modules of the outside insulation composite panels that conform to passive certification criteria and for site-assembly systematization. The method of study first identifies trends and passive house in literature and advanced research. Second, the target performance for development is set, and the structural material is selected and designed to simulate performance. Third, a test specimen of the passive outside insulation curtain wall module designed is manufactured and constructed to test its heat transmission coefficient, condensation performance and airtightness. Finally, analyze performance test results, and explore and propose ways to improve the estimation and improvement of incomplete causes to achieve the goal. The final test results achieved the target performance of condensation and airtightness, and the heat transmission coefficient was $0.16W/(m^2{\cdot}K)$, which is $0.01W/(m^2{\cdot})K$ below the performance target. As for the lack of performance, we saw a need for a complementary design to account for simulation errors. It also provided an opportunity to recognize that insulated walls with performance can impact performance at small break. Thus, to be commercialized into a product with the need for improvement in the design of the joint parts, a management system is needed to increase the precision in the fabrication process.

자동취형기 개발을 위한 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication for the Development of Auto Pattern Maker)

  • 목적: 안경테의 형판제작을 위한 자동취형기 개발을 위해 설계하고 제작하고자 한다. 방법: 자동취형기의 주요 설계도를 캐드로 그려서 제작에 필요한 정보를 얻었다. 이 데이터를 기본으로 자동취형기 개발을 위해 시제품을 제작하였다. 결과: 자동취형기는 형판가공부, 조작판넬, 안경테장착부, 탐침자부로 구성되었다. 형판가공부는 절삭부, 플라스틱 형판 고정부, 형판 이탈핀 그리고 형판 절삭시 소음을 최소화시키기 위한 방음덮개로 구성하였다. 조작판넬은 메인 P.C.B.와 서로 연결 및 작동되게 설계하였다. 탐침자가 $1.8^{\circ}$ 각도로 안경테 삽입부를 스캐닝해서 얻은 좌표값에 대한 엔코딩한 값을 통해 삽입부의 정보를 얻게 되었다. 스캐닝이 시작된 후에는 오른쪽 방향과 왼쪽방향으로 작동된다. 통신연결부는 RS232C 전송방식으로 자동취형기에서 외부 장치로 안경테 렌즈삽입부의 정보를 전송하여 형판 없이도 안경렌즈를 가공할 수 있었다. 형판의 절삭치수의 오차율을 평가하기 위해 일원배치분산분석한 결과 F값과 P값은 0.510과 0.601로 나와서, 자동 취형기에서 가공된 형판의 ${\Phi}22mm$, ${\Phi}55mm$ 그리고 ${\Phi}62mm$ 절삭 치수의 오차율은 크기에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개발된 자동취형기의 평균 절삭 오차값은 0.0274 mm으로 나타났다. 결론: 자동취형기를 설계 및 제작하여 시제품 제작에 성공하였다. 자동취형기의 역할은 안경테를 측정하여 안경테에 맞는 정확한 렌즈삽입부의 크기를 얻는 것이다. 자동취형기로부터 얻어진 정보값은 외부장치로 보내져 형판 없이 안경렌즈를 연삭가공 한다. 또한, 시제품은 안경테에 맞는 형판을 만들 수 있다. 연구개발 된 시제품을 통해 안경사들이 편리하게 형판제작이 가능하고, 과거 보다 안경 조제가공이 보다 효율적이게 작업이 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.
