The static implicit finite element method is applied effectively to analyze total tray panel stamping processes, which include the forming stage. Complicated and abnormal large size tray panel was analyzed by using commercial program called AutoForm. Analysis results examining possibility and validity of the AutoForm software and the factor study are presented. Further, the simulated results for the total tray panel stamping processes are shown and discussed. Its application is being increased especially in the automotive industrial area for the cost reduction, weight saving, and improvement of strength.

Panel data sets have recently been developed in various areas, and many recent studies have analyzed panel, or longitudinal data sets. Often a dichotomous dependent variable occur in survival analysis, biomedical and epidemiological studies that is analyzed by a generalized linear mixed effects model (GLMM). The most common estimation method for the binary panel data may be the maximum likelihood (ML). Many statistical packages provide ML estimates; however, the estimates are computed from numerically approximated likelihood function. For instance, R packages, pglm (Croissant, 2017) approximate the likelihood function by the Gauss-Hermite quadratures, while Rchoice (Sarrias, Journal of Statistical Software, 74, 1-31, 2016) use a Monte Carlo integration method for the approximation. As a result, it can be observed that different packages give different results because of different numerical computation methods. In this note, we discuss the pros and cons of numerical methods compared with the exact computation method.

In this paper, the author proposes a new method for acoustic radiation optimum design to minimize noise from a vibrating panel-like structure using a collaborative population-based search method called the particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSOA). The PSOA is a parallel evolutionary computation technique initially developed by Kennedy and Eberhart. The acoustic radiation optimization method based on the PSOA consists of two processes. In the first process, the acoustic radiation analysis by an integrated p-version FEM/BEM, which was developed by using MATLAB, is performed to evaluate the exterior acoustic radiation field of the panel. The second process is to search the optimum design variables: 1) Shape of Bezier curves and 2) Shape and position of ribs, to minimize noise from the panel using the PSOA. The optimization method based on the PSOA is compared to that based on the steady state genetic algorithm(SSGA) in order to verify the effectiveness and validity of the optimal solution by PSOA. Finally, it is shown that the optimal designs of the panel obtained by using the PSOA can achieve effective reductions in radiated sound power.
In solving the unsteady potential flow problem of the ship in waves with the panel method, in general one can consider the basic flow as the free stream or double body solution. For the double body solution, the body boundary condition has the 2nd derivatives of the velocity potential. Low order panel methods are known to suffer from the significant error in the 2nd derivatives computed at the body surface. This paper analyzes the numerical error in the 2nd derivatives for a 2-D cylinder and a 3-D sphere problem, and an extrapolation method to obtain the correct derivatives on the body surface is suggested.

In this paper, a square simply supported panel flutter have been considered at high supersonic flow by using coupled fluid-structure (FSI) analysis that based on time domain method. The Reynolds-Average Navier Stokes (RANS) equation with Spalart-Allmaras turbulent model were applied for unsteady flow problems of panel flutter. A fully implicit time marching schemed based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for calculating the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of it. In addition, the SOL 145 solver of MSC.NASTRAN was used to investigate flutter velocity based on PK-method of Piston theory. Our numerical results indicated that there is a good agreement result between Piston Theory in MSC.NASTRAN and coupled fluid-structure analysis.
This paper describes a fabrication method for high transmittance panel using newly designed polarizer and liquid crystal with a high dielectric anisotropy (${\Delta}{\varepsilon}$). To enhance the transmittance of the panel without contrast ratio reduction, new polarizer with high transmittance and high ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}$ liquid crystal were used. The transmittance of the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel employed by a new polarizer was increased by 6% over that of the panel with a conventional polarizer and liquid crystal in LCD industry.

The study was performed as reduction method using finite and boundary element analysis on structure-borne noise radiated by dash panel of a real car. The radiation efficiency is used to estimate sound noise of dash panel. Curvature and edges of dash panel have effect on radiation efficiency. The simulation results of dash panel was ensured by comparison between experimental results and simulation results of a simple rectangular plate. (omitted)
This paper analyze the precast panel retaining wall's safety factor changes based on the numerical analysis using PLAXIS 2D software. Numerical analysis conditions include construction method, nail and panel fixing method, backfill material compaction conditions, rainfall conditions. The classification according to the construction method of the precast panel retaining wall includes the top-down and bottom-up methods. The difference between the top-down and bottom-up methods is the presence or absence backfill material and the ground excavation method. The top-down method involves vertically excavating the ground and attaching the panel using mortar, but in the bottom-up method, the ground is vertically excavated and harden the backfill material. As a result of numerical analysis, the top-down method secured a higher safety factor in all cases except the rainfall conditions.
In the present work the elastic-plastic FE formulations using dynamic explicit time integration schemes are used for numerical analysis of a large auto-body panel stamping processes. For analyses of more complex cases with larger and more refined meshes, the explicit method is more time effective than implicit method, and has no convergency problem and has the robust nature of contact and friction algorithms while implicit method is widely used because of excellent accuracy and reliability. The elastic-plastic scheme is more reliable and rigorous while the rigid-plastic scheme require small computation time. In finite element simulation of auto-body panel stamping processes, the roobustness and stability of computation are important requirements since the computation time and convergency become major points of consideration besides the solution accuracy due to the complexity of geometry conditions. The performnce of the dynamic explicit algorithms are investigated by comparing the simulation results of formaing of complicate shaped autobody parts, such as a fuel tank and a rear hinge, with the experimental results. It has been shown that the proposed dynamic explicit elastic-plastic finite element method enables an effective computation for complicated auto-body panel stamping processes.
To predict the airloads on helicopter rotors in hover, the doublet panel method of the first order is applied. For this simulation, the rotor blade is divided into many panels both in spanwise and in chordwise direction, and Kocurek-Tangler's prescribed wake with roll-up process is taken for determing wake geometry and then represented by vortex lattice. To abtain more physically realistic calculation of induced velocity, the vortex core model is adopted and the compressibility effect is considered by Karman-Tsien rule.
