A Study on the Operation of Education Using Library Using Flip Learning Techniques: Focusing on ubiquitous E-learning that reflects gaming elements

  • Purpose - The purpose is to present an efficient library-use education model in the form of flip learning, reflecting traditional teaching methods and gamification elements even in such non-face-to-face and face-to-face situations after COVID-19. Research design, data, and methodology - Research on library use education, research on ubiquitous environment and gamification instructional design, flip the learning, and gamification elements are classified, compared, and analyzed to present educational models for library education, COVID-19 Pandemic situation, and subsequent library use education. Result - We propose an e-learning content development strategy for flipped learning-based library education. First, benchmark and use the existing educational contents. Second, a user-friendly interface is configured so that learners can flexibly organize their learning contents. Third, it allows learners to experience it directly or indirectly in a virtual space. Conclusion - If the e-learning environment can be standardized to the level of schools or educational institutions, a good educational model that can be used not only in library user education but also in other fields will be possible.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to assess the relationship between oral symptoms and changes in daily life after coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in middle and high school students. Methods: Data were obtained from the 17th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (2021). The subjects comprised 53,868 people who responded to survey questions related to this study. Multiple logistic regression analysis with complex samples was performed to identify the correlation between daily life changes and oral symptoms. Results: The analysis showed that compared to the group without changes in daily life after COVID-19, changes in daily life, such as skipping breakfast, drinking, and smoking, either decreased or increased. Furthermore, increase in depression and decreased physical activity and family economic status were related to oral symptoms. Conclusions: It is necessary to develop oral health programs for adolescents suitable for changing situations after COVID-19.

Data-Based Monitoring System for Smart Kitchen Farm

  • Pandemic situations such as COVID-19 can occur supply chain crisis. Under the supply chain crisis, delivering farm products from the farm to the city is also very challenging. Therefore it is essential to prepare food sufficiency people who live in a city. We firmly insist on food self-production/consumption systems in each home. However, since it is impossible to grow high-quality crops without expertise knowledge. Therefore expert system is essential to grow high-quality crops in home. To address this problem, we propose a smart kitchen farm as a data-based monitoring system and platform with ICT convergence technology. Our proposed approach 1) collects data and makes judgments based on expert knowledge for home users, 2) increases product quality of the smart kitchen farms by predicting abnormal/normal crops, and 3) controls each personal home cultivation environment through data-based monitoring within the smart central server. We expect people can cultivate high-quality crops in thir kitchens through this system without expert knowledge about cultivation.

Indoor air quality evaluation in intercity buses in real time traffic

  • Road transport allows all forms of land conditions to be met at less cost. Because of this function, despite numerous disadvantages, it becomes the most frequently used method of transport, especially in underdeveloped or developing countries. One of the most significant factors used in evaluating the atmosphere's air quality is the amount of CO2, increasing people's density in indoor spaces. The amount of CO2 indoors is, therefore, vital to determine. In this study, CO2 and temperature measurements made on nine different bus journey was made in Turkey. The minimum and maximum values were recorded as 555 ppm and 3000 ppm CO2, respectively, in the measurements. On all journeys, the average concentration is 1088.72 ppm. The minimum and maximum values were measured as 17.4℃ and 32.7℃ in the temperature measurements, and the average of all trips was calculated to be 25.76℃. In this study conducted before the Covid-19 pandemic, it was determined that the amount of CO2 increased with the density and insufficient ventilation in the buses. The risk of infection increases in places with high human density and low clean air. For situations such as pandemics, CO2 measurement is a rapid indicator of determining human density.

  • The recent COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated the need for faster and more accurate ways of diagnosing certain diseases for there to be safer and more effective early responses that help to prevent a total outbreak. In this work, we would like to approach this issue through machine learning algorithms to investigate whether or not they could serve as a viable replacement for conventional diagnosis. Through a process of training and testing various algorithms, we analyzed how successfully they can predict a patient's COVID-19 diagnosis based on a list of symptoms and also identified which algorithm is the most effective at doing so. If the necessary data, containing the symptoms and diagnoses of different cases, is provided, this method can be utilized to make a probable diagnosis of any disease besides COVID-19. This method can be used in conjunction with or in lieu of conventional diagnosis depending on the situation: if there is a lack of testing facilities or test kits, this method can be employed as it is inexhaustible and it could also be used in situations where a conventional diagnosis is proven to be inaccurate.

  • After the outbreak of COVID-19, the demand for home-enjoyable video games has surged, driven by extended pandemic conditions and resulting in rapid graphic technology advancements. Consequently, games with diverse expression techniques have emerged, captivating players. Virtual Reality (VR) environments predominantly feature natural landscapes, with advancing graphic technology enabling lifelike scenes. The rise in individuals seeking solace through natural elements in games has followed suit. As VR technology and metaverse interest grow, more people are exposed to digital imagery. However, evidence on the influence of graphic expression methods on emotional response to that is lacking. Our study examined user emotional responses, focusing on natural landscapes in digital graphics of games. Analyzing a group of 47 young adults as frequent digital media consumers, we studied reactions to different image styles (Realism, Semi-Realism, Stylized). In the analysis, Realism-style images were perceived the most positively, while emotional responses to natural landscapes with different graphical expressions showed no significant differences. Results suggest that recognizing digital natural landscapes may outweigh expression style impacting the evaluation of digital nature. This study's empirical analysis enhances the understanding of digital nature's application to actual situations.

데이터에 기반한 칠갑산천문대의 운영방안 연구 (DATA-BASED OPERATION PLAN FOR CHILGAPSAN OBSERVATORY)

  • In this study, quantitative analysis is attempted on data collected from Chilgapsan Observatory Star Park in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. The aim of this experimental study in which quantitative analysis of the Astronomical Science Museum in Korea is conducted is to investigate its current situation and secure basic data. As of July 31, 2023, it has had 283,931 cumulative visitors in total. It had the largest number of visitors when it opened (2009 year), after which their number reduced steadily until the pandemic (COVID-19, 2020-2022). Recently, however, the number of visitors has increased. Generally, the number of visitors is highest in August (20.8%) and least in April (4.1%). The visit rate is higher on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) than on weekdays (Monday-Friday), and groups comprise only about 5.3% of the total number of visitors. Moreover, it can be confirmed that the number of visitors increases sharply during events. Finally, it was confirmed that the visit rate was unaffected by weather conditions. Considering these results, we propose the following strategies: 1) Establish a special program that reflects "the weekend effect." 2) Prepare a plan to attract group visitors during the weekdays using "the event effect." 3) Arrange alternative programs (e.g., experiential activities) that can be conducted indoors regardless of weather conditions. We think that our findings will help establish a roadmap for the direction the Astronomical Science Museum should take and aid in preparing a strategic foundation to preemptively respond to unexpected situations (e.g., pandemics).

Slipchip Device Development in Molecular Diagnostics

  • Slipchip offers advantages such as high-throughout, low cost, and simple operation, and therefore, it is one of the technologies with the greatest potential for high-throughput, single-cell, and single-molecule analyses. Slipchip devices have achieved remarkable advances over the past decades, with its simplified molecular diagnostics gaining particular attention, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and in various infectious diseases scenarios. Medical testing based on nucleic acid amplification in the Slipchip has become a promising alternative simple and rapid diagnostic tool in field situations. Herein, we present a comprehensive review of Slipchip device advances in molecular diagnostics, highlighting its use in digital recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Slipchip technology allows users to conduct reliable droplet transfers with high-throughput potential for single-cell and molecule analyses. This review explores the device's versatility in miniaturized and rapid molecular diagnostics. A complete Slipchip device can be operated without special equipment or skilled handling, and provides high-throughput results in minimum settings. This review focuses on recent developments and Slipchip device challenges that need to be addressed for further advancements in microfluidics technology.

코로나19 팬데믹 기간 창업자 역량이 창업기업의 생존에 미치는 영향: 경영 성과의 매개 역할 (How Entrepreneur Competency Impacted Startup Survival During the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Mediating Role of Business Performance)

  • COVID-19 팬데믹은 인류에게 막대한 위기를 안겨준 것은 물론, 기업 생존에 중대한 영향을 미쳤다. 인간 생명을 보호하기 위한 사회적 거리두기와 글로벌 봉쇄 정책이 역설적으로 기업 생존 환경을 악화시킨 것이다. 이에 따라 외부 자원을 통해 경쟁 우위를 확보하려던 기업들은 외부와의 단절로 예기치 못한 도전에 직면하게 되었다. 이러한 상황에서 COVID-19 팬데믹 초기의 선행연구들은 전통적인 재무 요인을 통해 경영 성과를 재차 진단하는 데 그쳤다. 이에 본 연구는 자원기반관점에서 위기 상황에서 창업자의 역량이 경영 성과를 향상하고 이를 통해 창업기업의 생존 가능성을 높이는 중요한 요인임을 규명하고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 기술평가를 통해 정책금융을 제공하는 기술보증기금(KOTEC)이 2016년에 평가한 1,127개 창업기업을 대상으로 2019년 말의 경영 성과를 측정하였다. 그 이후 엔데믹을 선언한 시점인 2023년 6월 말 연구 대상 기업의 생존 상태를 확인하여 창업자 역량과 기업생존과의 관계에서 경영 성과의 매개 역할을 규명하는 실증 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 창업자 역량의 하위요인으로는 기술적, 재무적, 마케팅 역량으로 정의하였고, 매출액 증가율과 고용 증가율을 경영 성과의 하위요인으로 보았다. 실증분석 결과, 창업자의 기술적, 재무적 역량이 창업기업의 경영 성과와 생존에 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 매출액 증가율과 고용 증가율이 기술적 역량과 기업 생존 사이를 매개하였다. 하지만, 창업자의 재무적 역량은 고용 증가율을 통해서만 창업기업의 생존에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 COVID-19 팬데믹 상황에서 창업기업의 생존요인을 규명한 국내 최초의 연구로서, 자원기반관점에서 창업자의 역량이 중요한 생존요인이라는 이론적, 실무적 논의 확대에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

COVID-19 시대 사회안전망 평가와 정부신뢰가 증세 수용에 미치는 영향: 소득 수준의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Effects of Evaluations of Social Safety Net and Trust in Government on the Willingness to Accept Tax Increases in the Era of COVID-19: the Moderating Role of Income Levels)

  • COVID-19 팬데믹의 장기화로 인해 우리는 유례없는 사회경제적 위협에 직면해 있다. 인적 교류의 통제로 보건의료 측면에서의 위협 뿐 아니라 경제 활동 위축에 따른 부담에까지 동시에 노출되어 있다. 이러한 상황은 우리가 그간 위기상황에 대비해 마련해 놓았던 사회안전망에 대해 재점검해 볼 기회를 마련해 주었다. 본 연구는 이러한 맥락에서 사회안전망에 대한 평가가 정부의 신뢰도 및 정부 주도의 증세 정책에 대한 수용에 미치는 영향력을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 COVID-19가 팬데믹 국면으로 접어든 이후인 2020년 5월, 전국의 성인남녀 1000명을 대상으로 시행한 설문조사의 자료를 토대로 분석을 시행하였다. 분석 결과, COVID-19 발발 이후 우리나라의 사회안전망에 대한 평가는 정부에 대한 신뢰에 정(+)의 영향력을 미치고 있었으며, 이는 개인의 증세 정책에 대한 수용을 보다 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러, 정부 신뢰의 증세 수용에 대한 정(+)의 영향력은 소득 수준이 높아질 때 보다 증폭되는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 일련의 결과는 향후 코로나 이후를 대비한 정책과 시스템의 재정비에 있어 이론적 기틀을 마련하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
