  • The pairwise energy model (PEM) assumes that the cross section for the reaction cross section for the reaction A+BC$\{leftrightarrow}$B+C, where B and C are isotopes of hydrogen, depends on only the pairwise relative energy Es between A and B. Until now, the PEM has been used to interpret theoretically the isotope effect for the reactions such as $O(^3P)+HD,\;Ar^++(H_2,\;D_2,and\;HD)$. In this paper we carry out extensive quasiclassical trajectory calculations for the three possible reactions $Cl+H_2$ and HD and show that the PEM works very well at high energy. In particular we are able to accurately predict the intramolecular isotope effect at high energy for the reaction of Cl+HD using only the cross section data for $Cl+H_2$. To understand that the PEM works so well at high energy, the internal energy distributions for the products are examined. The distributions for three reactions are different at a fixed relative collision energy E but are approximately same at a fixed pairwise energy Es. This suggests that the PEM works very well at high energy. We believe the conclusions reached here will apply to other A+BC systems.

  • PBS(Pairwise Broadcast Synchronization) is a well-known synchronization scheme for WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks). As PBS needs the set of node-pairs for network-wide synchronization by over-hearing, GPA(Group-Wise Pair Selection Algorithm) was also proposed after PBS. However, GPA is complex and requires too many message transmissions, leading to much power consumption. Besides, GPA is not appropriate to topology change or mobile wireless sensor networks. So, we propose a new and energy-efficient pair-node selection algorithm for PBS. The proposed scheme's performance has been evaluated and compared with GPA by simulation. The results are shown to be better than GPA.

  • Security is one of the major challenges in the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). WSNs are more vulnerable to adversarial activities. All cryptographic security services indirectly depend on key management. Symmetric key management is the best key establishment process for WSNs due to the resource constraints of the sensors. In this paper, we proposed dynamic session key establishment scheme based on randomly generated nonce value and sensor node identity, in which each sensor node is equipped with session key on expire basis. The proposed scheme is compare with five popular existing key management systems. Our scheme is simulated in OMNET++ with MixiM and presented experimental results. The analytical study and experimental results show the superiority of the proposed scheme over the existing schemes in terms of energy, storage, resilience and communication overhead.

  • In general, reliability of AHP depends on pairwise comparison of evaluators. In addition, human judgment on the importance of alternatives or criteria is always imprecise and vague. The Fuzzy AHP technique is suggested and used widely recently. In this paper, we prioritize future energy technology development for well focused R&D. We selected 3 criteria and 10 sub-criteria. According to the result in this study, the most important sub-criterion is the precedence over other competitive technology, the second is the possibility for fundamental technology acquisition, and the third is the improvement energy efficiency. The other side, the lowest important sub-criterion is the technology level compared with advanced countries.

  • This research examined consumption-based carbon emission reduction by nuclear energy consumption and environmental tax while considering the context of trade globalization in the highest five emitter nations from 1990 to 2020. This study used various empirical methodologies, including preliminary analysis to check the stationarity and cointegration, the CS-ARDL for long-run analysis, CCEMG, AMG for robustness, and the D-H causality test for short-term pairwise causation. The results indicated that nuclear energy consumption, environmental tax, and trade globalization help to mitigate consumption-based carbon emissions while economic growth and population density boost carbon emissions. Furthermore, the results also found two-way casual connection exists between nuclear energy consumption, population density, and consumption-based carbon emissions. Thus, the results emphasize the need for government policies that encourage nuclear energy and environmental tax as a strategy to reduce carbon emissions and achieve and maintain environmental development.

  • The R&D budget of energy technology development has increased in the sector of korean energy technology development continuously. In addition to that, KIER, the government invested research institute and unique energy technology R&D research institute, is trying to plan for a big-sized energy R&D program for the well focused R&D and excellent research outcomes. In the phase of R&D process, the planning is one of the most important sectors because it drives the direction of R&D. In this study, we suggest the assessment criteria to select a strategic energy technology R&D programs by the analytic hierarchy process, which is one of multi-criteria decision making method (MCDM)We structure 2 tiers of hierarchy for assessing a big-sized R&D program and also establish 6 criteria in the level 1, which are energy environment, economic spin-off, technical spin-off, marketability, KIER mission, and cost. We allocate the relative weights of criteria by checking the values of consistency ratio as making pairwise comparisons. The result of this research will provide the decision makers as they select a right well focused R&D program.

  • Accelerated testing consists of a variety of test methods for shortening the life of products or hastening the degradation of their performance. This paper presents practical, modern statistical methods for evaluating the reliability of Nickel-Cadmium batteries at their design temperature of 2$0^{\circ}C$ by accelerated life test. Batteries have been life tested at three high temperature conditions, 50, 60, 7$0^{\circ}C$, respectively to yield failures quickly. The failures have been observed and judged by means of charge and discharge current integration. Analyses of life data from those conditions resulted in the Weibull distribution, which has been verified on the ground of the Kolmogorov-smirnov test and the pairwise t-test. Life data are modeled according to the Arrhenius life-temperature relationship. The mean life of tested batteries is assessed at about 590 cycles, and the activation energy of this chemical reaction is concluded to be 0.39eV as results. This study provides procedures for estimating the reliability of batteries in a short period, which has little been possible in domestic industries. The results can be applied in many fields such as proof testing, acceptance testing, and estimating assurance periods.

  • Assuming krypton molecules adsorbed on the graphite surface as a two-dimensional (2D) gas, 4th virial coefficient of the virial equation is calculated by the use of cluster integrals. The Henry's law constant, and 2nd and 3rd virial coefficients are also calculated. Adsorption isotherms calculated from this virial equation agree very satisfactorily with experimental results. The interaction energy of Kr-graphite surface is calculated assuming the pairwise additivity of Lennard-Jones(12,6) potential, and parametars therein are taken as; ${\varepsilon}_{gs}$/k = 71.1 K, ${\varepsilon}_{gg}$/k = 170 K, ${\sigma}_{gs}$ = 354 pm, and ${\sigma}_{gg}$ = 368 pm.

  • The sustainable energy has globally become more important to maintain the future industry. Of various new renewable energy types, hydrogen energy had drawn a lot of attention as clean energy. Therefore, this study applied SWOT-AHP analysis to establish a strategy for the infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry. It drew the factors required to establish the infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry based on the literature review and experts' opinions were surveyed to redesign SWOT Matrix. The AHP analysis is performed to obtain the relative importance of developed factors by pairwise comparisons. Based on research results by applying SWOT analysis and AHP, this paper proposes the development of strategic plan for infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry.
