This study was performed for identifying the characteristics of mass gathering and human injury in mass gathering based on the literature survey and analysis of mass gathering and crowd packing. The size and density of crowd influenced the characteristics of mass gathering according to type of mass gathering. The variables and causes of human injuries of mass gathering have positive or negative influences based on the weather, attendance, duration, location, mobility, event type, crowd mood, alcohol, drug, crowd density and age. Based on the physical mechanism of crowd packing, the degree of crowd packing was influenced by crowd pressure, crowd density and lasting time. But the magnitude of pressure for pedestrian injury criteria remains for further research.

Extraction of all nonrestorable teeth prior to bone marrow transplantation is the major dental management of the patient being prepared for the transplantation. But, there are four principal causes for excessive bleeding in the immediate postextraction phase ; (1) Vascular wall alteration (wound infection, scurvy, chemicals, allergy) (2) Disorders of platelet function (3) Thrombocytopenic purpuras (4) Disorders of coagulation (liver disease, anticoagulation drug-heparin, coumarin, aspirin, plavix) If the hemorrhage from postextraction wound is unusually aggressive, the socket must be packed with local hemostatic agent and wound closure & pressure dressing are applied. But, in dental alveoli, local hemostatic agent (gelfoam, surgcel etc) may absorb oral microorganisms and cause alveolar osteitis (infection). This is a case report of bleeding and infection control by suture, pressure packing and iodoform gauze drainage on infected active bleeding extraction socket under sedation and local anesthesia in a 57-years-old multiple disabled patient with anticoagulation drug.
Supplementary features in injection molded products, which are boss, rib and snap fit, are mainly located in the products. These features might make molding flow improper in injection processing and consequently give rise to some of molding troubles such as short shot and hesitation. The sink mark on boss parts is generated by the volumetric shrinkage that is caused by both the molding thickness and the closed boss height. The volumetric shrinkage is affected by packing pressure and its amount tends to decrease by increasing the packing pressure. The packing pressure can therefore increase flow rate to a boss part and causes the sink mark depth to increase. As the molding thickness and the closed boss height in the boss part can increase the part volume, these may yield bad solidifying and also extend the molding cycle. In this paper, both the injection molding test and the flow analysis were carried out to investigate the effect of sink marks generated in the boss part of injection molded products.

A flexile fiber filter developed in Korea was operated to evaluate the effect of packing density and filtration velocity on particle removal. The pilot-scale fiber filter with 40 cm of diameter and 2 m of height was packed with polyamide fibers of which mean diameter was approximately 0.93 mm. While the filtration velocity was maintained at 325 m/hr, the particle removal efficiency was compared with various of packing density from $70kg/m^3\;to\;100kg/m^3$. On the contrary, when the packing density was maintained at $70kg/m^3$, the particle removal efficiency was examined with various filtration velocity from 65 m/hr to 400 m/hr. The filtration pressure increased with the packing-density increase. Below $80kg/m^3$ of packing density, the removal efficiencies of turbidity ad SS were less than 30% and 50%, respectively. At $100kg/m^3$ of packing density, the removal efficiencies of them were nearly 45% and 60% respectively. The filtration pressure increased with the filtration-velocity increase. A better removal efficiency was obtained at a lower filtration velocity, removal efficiency of them were 73% at 65 m/hr. Consequently, The filtration velocity was the more important factor to enhance the particle removal efficiency compared with the packing density in fiber filter.

Recently, polymeric micro-fluidic biochips with numerous micro patterns on the surface were fabricated by injection molding for realizing low-cost mass production of devices. To evaluate the effects of process parameters on large-scale micro-structure replication, a $50{\times}50mm^2$ tool insert with surface structures having a patterns of trapezoidal shapes (height: $30{\mu}m$) was employed. During injection molding, PMMA was used; packing phase parameters and mold temperature were investigated. The replicated surface textures were quantitatively characterized by confocal laser microscopy with 10-nm resolution. The degree of replication at low mold temperatures was found to be higher than that at high mold temperature at the beginning of the packing stage. Thereafter, the degree of replication increased to a greater extent at higher mold temperatures; application of higher mold temperatures improved the degree of replication.

Since the performance of cooling tower is strongly dependent on the thermal performance of the packing, the evaluations of heat transfer rate and fan power from various packing have attracted intense interest. In the present study, two new packings have been devised and their performances have been compared with those of two existing packings to find better shape characteristic. It is found that one of the existing packings, which showed high heat transfer rate and medium fan power due to zig -zag flow passages and highly irregular surfaces, should be adapted.
In this paper, the FEM result has been presented for a sealing safety between a valve packing and a valve seat during a open and close operation in a LPG cylinder. The sealing operation of a LPG valve is completed when the valve packing in which is made by a nylon-66 polymer is to stop a LP gas flow, which flows out from the outlet of a brass pipe in a LPG cylinder. The contact sealing mechanism of the valve may be classified by a flat contact of an unused valve packing and a circular groove contact of an used valve packing in a current LPG valve. Based on the FEM and experimental investigations the sealing force, 4.9 MPa for a flat contact mode of the unused valve packing is a little high compared to that of the used valve packing, which shows a circular groove contact geometry against a valve seat. But these sealing pressures for two contact modes are very low compared to the ultimate strenath 83 MPa of the nylon-66 and this may be designed with a excess strength of the valve.
The impact of fiber friction, yarn twist, and splicing air pressure on mechanical and structural properties of spliced portion have been reported in the present paper. The mechanical properties include the tensile and bending related properties and, in the structural properties, the diameter and packing density of the splices are studied. A three variable three level factorial design approach proposed by Box and Behnken has been used to design the experiment. The results indicate that there is a strong correlation between retained spliced strength (RSS) and retained splice elongation (RSE) with all the experimental variables. It has been observed that RSS increases with the increase in splice air pressure and after certain level it drops, whereas it consistently increases with the increase in yarn twist. The RSE increases with the increase in both fiber friction and yarn twist. It has also been observed that the yarn twist and splicing air pressure have significant influence on splice diameter, percent increase in diameter and retained packing coefficient, but the fiber friction has negligible influence on these parameters. Yarn twist and splicing air pressure has a strong correlation with splice flexural rigidity, where as poor correlation with retained flexural rigidity.
Predictions of diesel particulate filtration are typically made by modeling of a particle collection, and providing particle trapping levels in terms of a pressure drop. In the present study, a series of single channel diesel particulate filter (DPF) experiments are conducted, the pressure traces are inversely analyzed and essential filtration parameters are deducted for model closure. A DPF filtration model is formulated with a non-linear description of soot cake regression. Dependence of soot cake porosity, packing density, permeability, and soot density in filter walls on convective-diffusive particle transportation is examined. Sensitivity analysis was conducted on model parameters, relevant to the mode of transition. Soot cake porosity and soot packing density show low degrees of dispersion with respect to the Peclet number and have asymptotes at 0.97 and $70\;kg/m^3$, respectively, at high Peclet number. Soot density in the filter wall, which is inversely proportional to filter wall Peclet number, controls the filtration mode transition but exerts no influence on termination pressure drop. The percolation constant greatly alters the extent of pressure drop, but is insensitive to volumetric flow rate or temperature of exhaust gas at fixed operation mode.
This paper presents Artificial Neural Network(ANN) method to predict maximum injection pressure of injection molding machine and weights of injection molding products. 5 hidden layers with 10 neurons is used in the ANN. The ANN was conducted with 5 Input parameters and 2 response data. The input parameters, i.e., melt temperature, mold temperature, fill time, packing pressure, and packing time were selected. The combination of the orthogonal array L27 data set and 23 randomly generated data set were applied in order to train and test for ANN. According to the experimental result, error of the ANN for weights was $0.49{\pm}0.23%$. In case of maximum injection pressure, error of the ANN was $1.40{\pm}1.19%$. This value showed that ANN can be successfully predict the injection pressure and the weights of injection molding products.
