  • Experimental and numerical studies were carried out in order to investigate the processability and the transcriptability of the injection molding of micro structures. For this purpose, we designed a mold insert having micro rib patterns on a relatively thick base part. Mold insert has a base of 2mm thickness, and has nine micro ribs on that base plate. Width and height of the rib are $300{\mu}m\;and\;1200{\mu}m$, respectively. We found a phenomenon similar to 'race tracking', due to 'hesitation' in the micro ribs. As the melt flows, it starts to cool down and melt front located in the ribs near the gate cannot penetrate further because the flow resistance is large in that almost frozen portion. When the base is totally filled, the melt front away from the gate is not frozen yet. Therefore, it flows back to the gate direction through the ribs. Consequently, transcriptability of the rib far from the gate is better. We also verified this phenomenon via numerical simulation. We further investigated the effects of processing conditions, such as flow rate, packing time, packing pressure, wall temperature and melt temperature, on the transcriptability. The most dominant factor that affects the flow pattern and the transcriptability of the micro rib is flow rate. High flow rate and high melt temperature enhance the transcriptability of micro rib structure. High packing time and high packing pressure result in insignificant dimensional variations of the rib. Numerical simulation also confirms that low flow rate causes a short shot of micro ribs and high wall temperature helps the filling of the micro ribs.

  • A local manufacturing companyin which low back pain(LBP) complaints were frequently reported was selected, and regularly perfomed lifting tasks were investigated using questionnaires and the 1991 NIOSH lifting guide. Among several processes of manufacture in the company, three processes-forming, heating and packing-were studied, where most of tasks were perfomed through manual materials handling (MMH). Questionnaire surveys showed that anthropometric data such as stature, weight and someatotype did not affect and weight of load influenced significantly the incidence of LBP, and workers who expwrienced LBP was older than the inexperienced. In addition, safety education conducted at the company was found to be ineffective in preventing LBP injuries. Lifting indexes(LI) was ranged from 0.86 to 17.0 with an average of 4.49, which revealed that tasks performing in the selected factory were in danger of LBP, and should be ertonomically redesigned. The critical factor reducing LI was found to be the horizontal component in all three processes, and most of weight of load was heavier than load constant(23kg) of the 1991 NIOSH lifting equation in heating process and packing.

  • Vibration table is required to obtain high packing density in expendable pattern casting process. Packing density. which is an important manufacture factor, depends on the vibration pattern induced by vibration table. In general, circular vibration pattern is recognized as the best pattern. The existing vibration table is investigated to identify current vibration pattern and consider a countermeasure. Modal test is utilized to identify the dynamic characteristics of vibration table, and finite element method is used to propose the improved design. In simulation using finite element method, the position of stiffeners is obtained to satisfy the required dynamic characteristics.

  • Buried pipeline is a indispensable factor of leading smoothly a society as a primary role. Recently, as a matter of convenience of construction and the economical purpose, the use of Precast Concrete products quickly increased. But there was various damage forms in a part of joint of Precast Concrete buried pipeline. The purpose of this study is to propose the new type of the flexible rubber packing material (EF) which could resist a permanent deformation of the ground or an earthquake and to investigate its safety together with effectiveness as conducting experiment and analysis.

  • We have successfully fabricated the alumina thick films using inkjet printing processes without a high temperature sintering process. Alumina suspension as dielectric ink was formulated by combining nano-sized alumina powders with an anionic polymer dispersant in formamide/water as co-solvent. The thickness of the printed alumina thick film was measured at around 5 um by field emission scanning electron microscope. The calculated packing density of 68.5 % from the printed alumina thick film was much higher than the same films fabricated by conventional casting or dip coating processes. Q factor of the dielectrics thick film infiltrated with cyanate ester resin was evaluated by impedance analyzer.

  • Warpage analysis of bobbin, molded by injection molding process was performed. Concerned with a mold design, cooling system was designed based on Taguchi method, the distance between cavity wall and cooling channel was most influent factor amongst four design variables like an inlet temperature of coolant, a coolant flow rate, a diameter of cooling channel, and the distance between cavity wall and cooling channel. Optimal packing processes to reduce the warpage of molded part was analyzed based on the response surface method by considering holding pressure. Their optimal processing conditions were 9.4 seconds, 5.3 seconds, 15.2 seconds, and 85MPa, respectively.

  • From September 1985 through September 1989,56 patients with stage IIIB carcinoma of the cervix were treated with radiation therapy with curative aim. The overall survival at 5 year was $38{\%}$. The survival rate was better for patients treated with combined external radiotherapy and high dose rate intracavitary radiotherapy than with external radiotherapy alone. No significant survival difference was observed between the unilateral and bilateral parametrial extension of the tumor Seventeen patients experienced recurrence within the irradiated field with a loco-regional recurrence rate of $30{\%}$. Ten patients had complications ($18{\%}$). The complications were mild in three, moderate in four, and severe in three patients. A study was made on the relationship between the fraction numbers of intracavitary radiotherapy, vaginal packing and the complication rate, respectively. In this analysis author observed that the significant treatment factor influencing the survival of cervical cancer was the use of intracavitary radiation, and meticulous vaginal packing could decrease the late complication rate of radiotherapy of cervical cancer.

Packing density, which is an important manufacture factor, depends on the vibration pattern induced by vibration table. Modal test is utilized to identify the dynamic characteristics of vibration table. And finite element method is used to modify flask by fixing the stiffener. The positions of stiffener to modify are found and the natural frequency could be easily shifted to the objective value by using sensitivity analysis.
