  • Router main task is to provide routing of Internet Protocol (IP) packets. Routing is achieved with help of the IP lookup. Router stores information about the networks and interfaces in data structures commonly called as routing tables. Comparison of IP from incoming packet with the IPs stored in routing table for the information about route is IP Lookup. IP lookup performs by longest IP prefix matching. The performance of the IP router is based on the speed of prefix matching. IP lookup is a major bottle neck in the performance of Router. Various algorithms and data structures are available for IP lookup. This paper is about reviewing various tree based structure and its performance evaluation.

  • This paper presents the design of high-speed virtual output queue(VOQ) management scheme for high performance cell/packet switch, which has a serial cross bar structure. The proposed VOQ management scheme has been designed for wire-speed routing with a pipelined buffer management. It provides the tolerance of requests and grants data transmission latency between the VOQ manager and central arbiter using a new request control method that is based on a high-speed shifter. The designed VOQ manager has been implemented in a field programmable gate array chip with a 77MHz operating frequency, a 900-pin fine ball grid array package, and 16$\times$16 switch size.

  • This paper proposes a sound multicast packet-switching method which can less affect QoS(Quality of Service) degradation. The method includes a switch fabric with extra switching paths dedicated f()r multicast packets. Presented also are both a buffering structure and a scheduling algorithm for the proposed method. Simulation analysis for the method shows that the switching delay of unicast packets is decreased even though arrival rate of multicast packets is increased.

  • UPnP Bridge supporting diverse network interface has to meet standard requirements in order to be connected with legacy devices. It is able to provide or bridge a service description and device description according to a specification because IEEE1394 and USB have this standard requirements. But it is difficult to know whether it RS232C supports only serial communication and packet transfer. It need a document for the standard definition of communication protocol on UPnP device having such interface. By doing so, this document can understand device and packet type. This paper defines MFD(Message Field Description) and makes UPnP message converter. So it will be base to standardize supporting variable legacy device.

  • Compared to legacy frequency hopping communications, future radio communications are required the secure and high data rate, ad-hoc network communication. In this paper, we have designed the network communication structure on the frequency hopping mode, and analyzed the performance of synchronization on the frequency hopping network radio systems. The design results are shown the initial sync. phase of approximately 9 hops and the traffic packet phase of approximately 30 hops. Also, we have simulated the performance on the communication conditions which are carrier bandwidth of 50kHz, user data rate of 64kbps and OQPSK modulation scheme in AWGN. In the simulation, we analyzed the correlation and the performance of synchronization success. The result of simulation show 99% probability for synchronization success at $E_b/N_o$ -4dB.

  • This paper measures and compares the traffic of a series of Massively Multiplayer On-line Role Playing Games(MMORPG). The target games are 'Lineage' and 'Lineage II' developed by NCsoft, which are ones of the world's largest MMORPGs in terms of the number of concurrent users. We collected about 1 tera bytes of packets of 'Lineage II' for four days including a weekend. These packets are analyzed and compared with those of 'Lineage.' Packet size, packet inter-arrival time, and bandwidth usage are compared. The traffic of the two games shows much difference because original 'Lineage' is a kind of 2-D based MMORPG, while 'Lineage II' is 3-D based. By comparing the characteristics of the traffic of these games, we can anticipate future needs of network and game structure.

  • In this paper, we propose USN Protocol of Room Control with high efficiency and new routing techniques. I establish a network of cluster hierarchy structure under bases standard for IEEE 802.15.4 and another networks to manage each room use a control packet transmitted and The proposed protocol does not perform BroadCast over a network and transmits a packet to same layer to the destination and then passes the packet after doing searches. If a destination to be transmitted cannot be looked up, the protocol transmits AODV routing packet so that not only traffic load of a wireless network is decreased, but also efficient routing path can be obtained.

  • The recent Internet is changing from its best-effort service and needs the network structure and traffic engineering, which can support various applications requiring differentiated traffic processing and high quality of service. The extension of the Internet from wired to wireless system generating location-dependent and burst errors make more difficult to support a good service with the existing packet scheduling algorithm. In this paper, we propose a wireless diffserv packet scheduling (WDSPS) algorithm that can provide reliable service in the differentiated wireless internet service network. The proposed scheduling algorithm solves the HOL(head of line) blocking problems of class queue occurred in wireless network, supports the differentiated service for each class which is defined in differentiated service networks and makes possible the gradual and efficient service compensation not only among classes but also among flows to prevent the monopoly of one class or one flow. Through simulations, we show that our proposed WDSPS scheduling algorithm can provide the required QoS differentiation between classes and enhance the service throughput in various wireless network conditions.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective multicasting protocol in wireless ad-hoc networks. Conventional wired and wireless network multicast protocols do not perform well in wireless ad hoc networks because they were designed without consideration of ad hoc environments such as node mobility, limited bandwidth, high error probability. To solve this problem, some multicasting protocols for ad hoc network have been proposed in the literature. However, these protocols can not provide high packet delivery ratio, low control packet overhead and low expended bandwidth at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose RTMA that improves multicasting performance in wireless ad hoc networks. RTMA calculates its current region from its position information by using GPS in order to make tree among the multicast group nodes in the same region. The proposed region-based tree method is for high packet delivery ratio, low control packet overhead when many senders send data packets. RTMA makes a reliable tree by using speed information to fill a gap of the weak points of the tree structure. When searching the routing path, RTMA selects the reliable path excluding high speed nodes.

  • In this paper, the Packet CDMA Reservation ALOHA protocol is proposed to support the multi-traffic services such as voice and videophone services with handoff calls, high-rate data and low-rate data services efficiently on the multi-rate transmission in uplink cellular systems. The frame structure, composed of the access slot and the transmission slot, and the proposed access permission probability based on the estimated number of contending users for each service are presented to reduce MAI. The assured priority to the voice and the videophone handoff calls is given through higher access permission probability. And through the proposed code assignment scheme, the voice service can be provided without the voice packet dropping probability in the CDMA/PRMA protocols. The code reservation is allowed to the voice and the videophone services. The low-rate data service uses the available codes during the silent periods of voice calls and the remaining codes in the codes assigned to the voice service to utilize codes efficiently. The high-rate data service uses the assigned codes to the high-rate data service and the remaining codes in the codes assigned to the videophone service. Using the Markov-chain subsystem model for each service including the handoff calls in uplink cellular systems, the steady-state performances are simulated and analyzed. After a round of tests for the examples, through the proposed code assignment scheme and the access permission probability, the Packet CDMA Reservation ALOHA protocol can guarantee the priority and the constant QoS for the handoff calls even at large number of contending users. Also, the data services are integrated efficiently on the multi-rate transmission.
