  • This paper represents an interworking architecture for keeping the VLC audio quality between Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and IEEE 802.11 Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) where both mobile routers and mobile nodes are moving dynamically. Systematic performance analysis on the interworking architecture has been conducted by using OPNET simulator to show the results such as Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and throughput. Based on simulation results, when the number of MANET nodes is small, PDR remains relatively stable even though data packets increase. However, with the many MANET nodes, PDR decreases as data traffic increases. Throughput is affected by the number of MANET nodes. Especially when the MANET node density has increased further, throughput is much higher, but it is not affected by the mobility speed. However, FTP download and upload response time is not affected much by both the number of MANET nodes and the mobility speed.

  • WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks) needs error recovery and flow control schemes to support reliable multicast protocol. Limited wireless bandwidth, as well as queuing losses caused by the asymmetric wired/wireless interactions, demands more effective approaches for reducing packet losses. Moreover, since the wireless channel is a shared broadcast medium, if sender receives feedback information simultaneously from several receivers, the feedback delays data frame transmission of forward direction by introducing channel congestion and burden at the sender. Therefore, it is important to minimize the amount of feedback information from receivers. In this paper, we propose an ARS(Adaptive Redundancy Scheme) that combines FEC(Forward Error Correction) using channel state estimation and ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) both to reduce the amount of feedback information and the number of retransmissions and to guarantee high data reliability in a WLAN multicast environment. Performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by means of analysis and simulations in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. The results show that the proposed scheme reduces the amount of feedback information and the number of retransmissions and guarantees high data reliability, while keeping throughput efficiency similarly with the conventional FEC and ARQ scheme.

  • More advanced and demanding applications, like videoconferencing, video on demand. distributed computing etc., have been devised thanks to the availability of enhanced network feature. Network technologies need to be enhanced to support these applications and to cope with the increasing number of users. Increasing the availability of network resources is just not enough to achieve this goal; scalable network architecture. increased packet forwarding capabilities, a wider range of services are all additional requirements. MOLS (multiprotocol label Switching) is one of the new networking techniques under standardization in the scientific community. In this paper, we analyze the performance of label switching in ATM networks. Simulation tests were performed. In this simulation, we set a simple network configuration and used internet traffic traces from NLANR as input traffic sources. The simulation results and analysis will be helpful in utilizing the functions of ATM switching and IP routing.

  • The existing Proxy Mobile IPv6 suffers from a long handover latency which in turn causes significant packet loss that is unacceptable for seamless realtime services such as multimedia streaming. This paper proposes an OpenFlow-enabled proxy mobile IPv6 (OF-PMIPv6) in which the control of access gateways is centralized at an OpenFlow controller of a foreign network. The proposed OF-PMIPv6 separates the control path from the data path by performing the mobility control at the controller, whereas the data path remains direct between a mobile access gateway and a local mobility anchor in an IP tunnel form. A group of simple OpenFlow-enabled access gateways performs link-layer control and monitoring activities to support a comprehensive mobility of mobile nodes, and communicates with the controller through the standard OpenFlow protocol. The controller performs network-layer mobility control on behalf of mobile access gateways and communicates with the local mobility anchor in the Proxy Mobile IPv6 domain. Benefiting from the centralized view and information, the controller caches the authentication and configuration information and reuses it to significantly reduce the handover latency. An analytical analysis of the proposed OF-PMIPv6 reactive and proactive handover schemes shows 43% and 121% reduction in the handover latency, respectively, for highly utilized network. The results gathered from the OF-PMIPv6 testbed suggest similar performance improvements.

  • Recently, the new issues for the safety and the information delivery system in the ship are raised. The deployment and the efficient algorithms of deploying the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by reshaping some of the internal structure of the ship. In this paper, the shipboard signal propagation measurement system based on the signature sequence-three way slave mode are designed and its measureed data are analysed after measuring the signal propagation characteristics. Consequently, it is expected that the reliable and cost-effective signal measurement system with the three way algorithm for the deployment of the shipboard wireless networks can be achieved.

The deployment of the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by deforming some of the internal structure of the ship. • Link Adaptation should select the best modulation and coding scheme (MCS) which gives the highest throughput as channel conditions vary. Several link adaptation algorithms for wireless local area network (WLAN) have been proposed but for the future WLAN systems such as 802.11n system, these algorithms do not guarantee the best performance. In this paper, we propose a new link adaptation algorithm in which an MCS level is chosen by the received SNR plus the offset value obtained from the transmission results. The performance of proposed algorithm is simulated by an IEEE 802.11n system. From the analysis, we conclude the proposed algorithm performs better than the well-known link adaptation algorithms such as auto rate fallback and general SNR-based techniques. Particularly, the proposed algorithm improves throughput when the packet error ratio (PER) is constrained for fast fading channels.

  • The network mobility basic support (NEMO BS) protocol has been investigated to provide Internet connectivity for a group of nodes, which is suitable for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) applications. NEMO BS often increases the traffic load and handover latency because it is designed on the basis of mobile Internet protocol version 6 (MIPv6). Therefore, schemes combining proxy MIPv6 with NEMO (P-NEMO) have emerged to solve these problems. However, these schemes still suffer from packet loss and long handover latency during handover. Fast P-NEMO (FP-NEMO) has emerged to prevent these problems. Although the FP-NEMO accelerates handover, it can cause a serious tunneling burden between the mobile access gateways (MAGs) during handover. This problem becomes more critical as the traffic between the MAGs increases. Therefore, we propose a scheme for designing an improved FP-NEMO (IFP-NEMO) to eliminate the tunneling burden by registering a new address in advance. When the registration is completed before the layer 2 handover, the packets are forwarded to the new MAG directly and thereby the IFP-NEMO avoids the use of the tunnel between the MAGs during handover. For the evaluation of the performance of the IFP-NEMO compared with the FP-NEMO, we develop an analytical framework for fast handovers on the basis of P-NEMO. Finally, we demonstrate that the IFP-NEMO outperforms the FP-NEMO through numerical results.

  • The command that game users give should be reflected to the game immediately and should be transferred to several objects at once. Also, all game users who participate in game should keep the same progress situation in Real-Time Strategy game. But it takes a certain amount of time to get the command pass to other users, and it is important issue that many commands are synchronized in a short amount of time on server of RTS game. Therefore we propose a scheme for an efficient synchronization based on event locking method on RTS game in this paper. We design and implement the gaming server applying to our proposed scheme. Also, we show efficiency of our proposed scheme by performance analysis in this paper.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad hoc networks) is a mobile, multi-hop, and wireless network which is bandwidth constrained, energy constrained, resource constrained, autonomous, and self operating systems with dynamic topology. These constraints make the routing between communicating nodes in ad hoc networks difficult. In this paper we survey several routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. Especially, we focus on Zone Routing Protocol, hybrid routing framework suitable for a wide of mobile ad hoc networks and analyze performance of ZRP. In the case of ZRP protocol, it is essential that the use of optimal zone radius for efficient use. Otherwise it was proved through an simulation that performance of whole network is rapidly decrease with greatly increasing overhead of ZRP traffic that need for transmission of packet by IARP or IERP traffic. Also we suggest the process of finding QoS path that use in-band signal for QoS routing in ad hoc network. This method guarantees route that make real time multimedia service for QoS enabled path.
