Absorption of d-Limonene in Orange Juice into a Laminated Food Package Studied with a Solid Phase Micro-extraction Method

  • The methods for determining the diffusion parameters for the diffusion of d-limonene, a major volatile compound of orange juice, through a multi-layered food packaging material and predicting its absorption into the packaging material have been investigated. The packaging material used was the 1.5-mm thick multi-layered packaging material composed of high impact polystyrene (HIPS), polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC), and low density polyethylene (LDPE). Orange juice was placed in a cell where volatiles were absorbed in the sample package and kept at $23{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ for 72 hr. The d-limonene absorbed in a 1.5-mm thick multi-layered food packaging material was analyzed by a solid phase micro-extraction (SPME). The absorption parameters for the absorption of d-limonene in the packaging material were determined and absorption of d-limonene into the packaging material was predicted using absorption storage data. The SPME desorption at $60^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr resulted in the most sensitive and reproducible results. The diffusion coefficients of d-limonene in the packaging material and the partition coefficient at $23{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ were approximately $1-2{\times}10^{12}m^2$/s and 0.03, respectively. The absorption profile no earlier than 30 hr was fit well by a model derived from the Fick's law.

  • Power module is getting attention from electronic industries such as solar cell, battery and electric vehicles. Transient liquid phase (TLP) boding, sintering with Ag and Cu powders and wire bonding are applied to power module packaging. Sintering is a popular process but it has some disadvantages such as high cost, complex procedures and long bonding time. Meanwhile, TLP bonding has lower bonding temperature, cost effectiveness and less porosity. However, it also needs to improve ductility of the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) at the joint. Wire boding is also an important interconnection process between semiconductor chip and metal lead for direct bonded copper (DBC). In this study, TLP bonding using Sn-based solders and wire bonding process for power electronics packaging are described.

환경기체조절포장에 의한 자숙오징어의 Shelf-Life 연장 (Shelf-Life Extension of Cooked Squid Using Modified Atmosphere Packaging)

  • An experiment was conducted for extension of shelf-life of cooked squid (Todarodes pacificus) using modified atmosphere packaging. The products were packed in a Ny/PE/LLDPE (0.015/0.045/0.040 mm) laminated film with air, vacuum, CO2 gas, and N2 gas, respectively, and then stored at 5$^{\circ}C$ and 2$0^{\circ}C$. Keeping qualities of the products were investigated by measuring moisture content, H, volatile basic nitrogen (VBN), viable cell count, thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value, peroxide value (POV) and color value. Good qualities of the products stored at 5$^{\circ}C$were maintained at least 9 days, 11 days, more than 35 days and 24 days in air, vacuum, CO2 gas and N2 gas packaging products, respectively. In cases of 2$0^{\circ}C$ storage, however, the shelf-lives of all the products were only one day. The shelf-life extension of the products were observed in CO2 ga>N2 gas>vacuum>air packaging in order.

  • 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 성능은 촉매 지지 물질의 특성에 의존한다. 본 연구에서는 백금 촉매의 지지체로서 CNF(carbon nanofibre)와 CNT(carbon nanotube)를 사용하였다. CNF와 CNT는 기상화학증착법과 메카노케미컬 공정에 의해 처리된 촉매를 이용하여 합성되었다. 백금은 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 적용을 위하여 CNF와 CNT로 지지되었다. 그 결과, 65 nm의 직경을 가지는 twisted CNF로 준비된 MEA가 가장 우수한 I-V 특성을 나타내는 것이 확인되었다.

  • 대용량 전력저장용 황화나트륨 기반의 전지를 개발함에 있어서 베타 알루미나 고체 전해질 튜브와 알파 알루미나 셀 캡 간의 물리적 접합을 위해서는 세라믹-세라믹 접합용 씰링 글라스 후막 페이스트가 필요하다. 본고에서는 글라스 프릿 분말의 입도, 열처리 조건이 씰링 글라스의 열처리 후 미세구조 특히 기공율과 그 분포에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 씰링 글라스 분말의 입자가 클수록 열처리 후의 글라스의 미세 조직상에서의 기공율 및 기공의 수가 감소하였으며, 열처리 온도가 증가 할수록 기공의 수가 감소하는 반면 기공의 크기는 증가함을 확인하였다. 이로써 글라스 씰란트의 제조에 있어서, 글라스 페이스트용 글라스 프릿 분말의 입자 크기와 씰링 열처리 온도의 적절한 선정에 의해 글라스 씰링부의 미세구조에서 기공율과 기공의 분포 및 기공의 수를 제어할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

  • The cell growth inhibitor effect of cervical cancer cells was investigated by liposome mediated transfection (pRcCMVp53/lipofectin) and by transfection using adenovirus (AdCMVp57). The papilloma virus cancer cell lines we used in this study were HPV16 positive, having inhibiter gene, wild p53 gene, CaSki, SiHa, HPV18 positive HeLa, HeLaS3 and HPV negative C33A, HT3. LacZ gene of E.coli was used as the marker gene for the transfection efficiency. The effect on the inhibition of tumor cell growth was measured by cell count and cell viability though ELISA analysis and MTT assay. The inhibition of tumor cell growth was confirmed by measuring each assay for six days, comparing with the normal control cell growth. The cell growth of cervical cancer calls by transfection was significantly reduced and showed tittle differences among the cell lines. To eliminate the potential problem of Ad(adenovirus) contamination during rAAV production, rAAV can be produced by a triple transfection of vector plasmic, packaging plasmid, and adenovirus helper plasmid. To examine the helper functions of Ad plasmids on the production of rAAV vector, we carried out cotransfection of three plasmids, AAV vector, packaging construct, and Ad helper plasmids. The optimized transfection condition for calcium phosphate method is 25ug of total DNA per 10-cm-diameter plate of 293 cell. We found that rAAV yields peaked at 48hr after Ad infection. The titer of rAAV was measured by the dot blot analysis to measure the number of particles/ml based on the quantification of viral DNA. Recent1y, Kombucha(fungi) was identified as a very potent antileukefic agent. In the present study, effect of natural toxin(plankton) and Kombucha is PSP(GTXI-3, neoSTX), on various MTT assay cervical cancer cell line. Toxin(GTX 1-3, neoSTX) also inhibited the proliferation in primary cervical cancer calls in a dose-dependent toxin concentration. These results showed that toxin was very potent in inhibiting the proliferation of cervical cancer calls in vitro. Toxins and Kombuoha exhibited a dose dependent inhibition of cellular proliferation in cancer cell line.

Association between a p73 Gene Polymorphism and Genetic Susceptibility to Non-small Cell Lung Cancer in the South of China

  • Background: This study aimed to identify any association between the p73 gene G4C14-to-A4T14 polymorphism and risk of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the south of China. Materials and Methods: We genotyped the p73 gene polymorphism of peripheral blood DNA from 168 patients with NSCLC and 195 normal controls using HRM (high resolution melting) and PCR-CTPP (polymerase chain reaction with confronting two-pair primers). Results: The results of genotyping by HRM and PCR-CTPP were consistent with direct sequencing, the p73 genotype distribution in 168 lung cancer patients being as follows: GC/GC 101 cases (60.1%), GC/AT 59 cases (35.1%), AT/AT 8 cases (4.8%). The carriers of AT/AT genotype had a significantly reduced risk of NSCLC (OR=0.370; 95%CI: 0.170-0.806; p=0.010) as compared with non-carriers. However, we found no relations between p73 genotypes and histological type (p=0.798, $x^2=0.452$), tumor stage (p=0.806, $x^2=0.806$), or lymph node metastasis (p=0.578, $x^2=1.098$). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 polymorphism may be a modifier of NSCLC susceptibility in the Chinese population.

Discharge Properties of an AC-Plasma Display Panel

  • Two kinds of the ac-plasma display panel (PDP) with the comb type and the matrix type electrodes were fabricated. The discharge properties were studied as a function of as species (Ne and Ne+He+Xe) and its pressure. The firing voltages (Vf) of the PDP with comb type electrodes were 159 V and 195 V under pure Ne and ne+He+Xe(68:30:2) gas mixture respectively. In case of PDP cell with the matrix type electrodes the Vf was increased to 200 V for pure Ne and 240 V for Ne+He+Xe gas mixture under the same gas pressure(300 mbar).

  • 현존 최고의 효율 특성을 나타내고 있는 PERL 전지와 유사한 구조를 갖는 PM 전지와 에피텍셜 베이스구조를 갖는 새로운 Si EBS 태양전지를 제작하여 이들의 효율특성을 비교 분석하였다. 본 실험에서 EBS 전지는 이미터 표면의 형상에 따라 EBS-T 전지와 EBS-P 전지로 구분되고 있다. EBS-T 전지는 EBS-P 전지에 비해 약 15%, PIN 전지에 비해 약 60%의 효율 개선 효과가 있었다.

$SnO_2$ 첨가에 의한 리튬이차전지용 카본전극의 전지특성 개선 (Study on the Improvement of Cell Performance for the Carbon Electrode by Impregnating $SnO_2$)

  • mesocarbon microbeads (MCMB) 카본 분말에 제2상 첨가물로서 소량의 주석산화물$(SnO_2)$을 균일하게 분산 첨가시킴으로서 리튬이차전지의 부극재료로 사용되는 카본 분말의 전지 성능을 개선하였다. 주석산화물 첨가 방법는 전하적정법을 사용하여 Sn을 MCMB 분말에 삽입시키고, 다시 삽입된 Sn이 산화되도록 대기 중에서 $250^{\circ}C$로 1시간동안 후열처리를 하였다. 주석산화물이 첨가된 MCMB 카본분말로 Li/MCMB 전지 cell을 만들어 충방전시험을 수행한 결과, raw MCMB로 만든 전극보다 더 우수한 충방전 용량과 싸이클 특성을 나타내었다. 즉, 주석산화물 삽입에 의해 표면개질된 MCMB 카본 분말은 기존의 MCMB에 비해 높은 초기 방전용량과 충전용량을 나타내었고, 또한 높은 가역 특성과 좋은 cycleability를 보였다. 삽입된 $SnO_2$의 양이 증가할수록 높은 가역용량을 나타내었고 비가역용량 역시 높은 값을 나타내었다.
