Three-Dimensional Computational Flow Analysis of a Sirocco Fan for a Package Air Conditioner by LES (LES에 의한 PAC용 시로코홴의 3차원 전산유동해석)

  • The computational flow analysis using LES technique was carried out to investigate the flow characteristics of a sirocco fan under the maximum flowrate condition. The commercial SC/Tetra software was used for this unsteady and three-dimensional numerical analysis. In consequence, because a flow is unstable within the range of about 50% of a housing depth from a bellmouth around the cutoff region, the passing flow through the blade cascade occurred on the X-Y plane is a slow or a reverse with approaching to the housing inlet. Also, the secondary flow shows on the radial plane of a housing, and its vortex center exists within about 33% of a housing depth from a bellmouth except the cutoff region. Moreover, the flow occurring on the exit plane of a sirocco fan shows a complex secondary flow.

  • The sound transmission from the machine room where air-conditioner outdoor unit is located into the adjacent room is predicted and evaluated. The software package for statistical energy analysis(SEA) is utilized to determine the transmission losses of multi-layerd panels. To determine the noise level in the machine room, ray tracing method is adopted. The various sound transmission paths have been effectively identified and evaluated by the SEA tool.

  • In this paper, It is introduced to electromagnetic sound by AC motor and example of application by experiments. And Through adjusting some design parameter related to Mass, Damping coefficient and Stiffness of the system, we could find best design point to reduce motor total noise as well as noise component at AC power frequency (2f).

  • As the economic power is improved and the customer's demand is hard to please, the noise and vibration is the most important yardstick that can determine the quality of the product. Especially, as the airconditioner's demand increase suddenly, the product of quality and the noise is becoming a decisive factor of determining whether purchase the product or not. Therefore, every manufactory is investing a lot of money and research to cut down the unpleasantness induced from noise and vibration. And they are emphasizing their product's difference by advertising a silence very actively. With these reason, the demand of a silent indoor air-conditioner is the essential research filed when the product is develop(:d. In this study, the noise and vibration is visualized in the space and frequency domain by using experimental methods such as operational deflection shape (ODS), modal testing and sound intensity. Also the location of noise source and its characteristic is analyzed in an acoustical point of view to reduce the structure borne noise that come from the fan motor, and the pertinent control method is suggested. Furthermore, the most suitable shape of the motor bracket is suggested by applying FEM and DOE (Design of experiments) in the noise and vibration point a view.

  • 최근 작업자 숙소 및 이송용 외에 작업용으로 사용 가능한 Barge선의 일종인 Accommodation Work Barge 선의 건조량이 증가 추세인 바 현재 중국에서 건조 중인 해당 선박의 HVAC & Refrigeration system에 대하여 정리하였다. 본 시스템은 R404A Direct expansion 냉각방식 (직접팽창방식)이 적용되었으며 HVAC system 중 Air conditioning 부분에 대해서는 선박의 각 Deck 기준으로 Zoning 하여 개별적인 Air handling unit와 Condensing unit를 구성하였으며 (각 unit의 용량은 필요용량의 100%), 냉동 창고의 Refrigeration system은 해당 격실 (육고, 어고, 야채고)에 각각 Unit cooler를 설치하고, Condensing unit를 기계실에 설치하였다. 장비는 전체 용량 100%에 대하여 항시 운전하는 100% 용량의 장비와 비상시에 운전하는 100% 용량의 예비 장비로 구성된다. 냉동 창고에 인접한 Dry provision store는 냉동 창고와는 별개로 중앙 공조기로부터의 냉각 공기를 이용하여 Spot cooling하였다. 본 System의 구성에 대한 장점 및 단점은 아래와 같다. 1. Air conditioning system이 각 Zone에 대하여 구성되므로 각 Zone에 대하여 제어가 가능하다. 2. Air con. 실에 Air handling unit와 Condensing unit가 설치되므로 냉매 배관의 길이가 짧다. 3. Air con. 실에 Air handling unit와 Condensing unit가 설치되므로 실내의 Maintenance space 상에 여유가 없다.

Failure Analysis of Condenser Fin Tubes of Package Type Air Conditioner for Navy Vessel (함정용 패키지 에어콘 응축기 핀튜브(Cu-Ni 70/30) 누설파괴 원인 분석)

  • In 2015, a fin tube (Cu-Ni 70/30 alloy) of package type heat exchanger for navy vessel was perforated through the wall which led to refrigerant leakage. This failure occurred after only one year since its installation. In this study, cause of the failure was determined based on available documents, metallographic studies and computational fluid dynamics simulation conducted on this fin tube. The results showed that dimensional gap between inserted plastic tube and inside wall of fin tube is the cause of the swirling turbulent stream of sea water. As a result of combination of swirling turbulence and continuing collision of hard solid particles in sea water, erosion corrosion has begun at the end of inserted plastic tube area. Crevice corrosion followed later in the crevice between the outer wall of plastic tube and inner wall of fin tube. It was found that other remaining tubes also showed the same corrosion phenomena. Thorough inspection and prompt replacement will have to be accomplished for the fin tubes of the same model heat exchanger.

  • This paper presents the usage of software package APM WinMachine for design of train car elements. APM software uses fur maximization of design productivity and efficiency in designing and evaluation machine elements and systems and CAD modeling. In process of machine designing needs make strength calculations of machine parts with complecated design. Will the help of APM software strength calculations can be done quickly. On the Demichovo machine-building plant with the use of APM software were made quickly and effectively strength calculations of the cradle of the suspension of air-conditioner of car train and the mounting brackets of a tank of train toilet.

A Measurement and Evaluation of the Indoor Thermal Conditions in Summer of a Newly-Launched 8,500GT Chemical Carrier (신조 8,500GT 화학물 운반선의 여름철 선실 내 온열환경 실측평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure and analyze the indoor thermal conditions of a 8,500GT class chemical carrier which was launched on July 2007. The measurement was operated from 4th June to 4th June 2007, just before handing over to Owner. Followings are the results of this study. (1)The temperature variations of supply air were related to the outdoor temperature variations, but the humidity was stable at $65{\sim}80%$. (2)The temperature variations at the representative position of bridge, restaurant, crew's cabin showed gentle slopes. but that of conference room was very steepy. The humidities of bridge and restaurant were unstable because of outdoor-contact and cooking, respectively. (4)The temperature and humidity of ECR(Engine Control Room) which was designed to supply heating and cooling by PAC(Package Air Conditioner) were directly affected by the operating conditions of PAC. (5)The measured supply air volume from dampers of bridge, crew's cabin and conference room were satisfied with the design supply air volume. (5)For the improvement of the indoor thermal conditions, the temperature of crew's cabin and restaurant and the humidity of conference room, and the temperature and humidity of bridge should be controlled, respectively.

Development of a Compressor Design System Using Configuration Design Method (편집설계 기법을 이용한 압축기 설계 시스템 개발)

  • In this research, we developed a design system for a compressor of an air conditioner using solid CAD system. The developed design system has some characteristics. First, the design system used a configuration design method, so a designer can design a compressor very quickly by using the constructed master libraries. Next, the system was developed to be used not only by engineers but also by salesmen. It is very easy for a user to use it, so a salesman can get a result very easily with the design system. And it has some design modules which give a considerable convenience to designers. Actually, designers are accustomed to the module based design. Then, it has calculation and analysis functions. Volume and mass of a part, and interference between parts are calculated by using the geometric calculation function of a solid CAD system. Also a packaging calculation was implemented to get the smallest space to package compressors for transportation and storing. An interface with a program to analyze the vibration of a compressor was developed in this design system. The design system is similar to CBD (Case-Based Design) system in the view of the whole design process.

  • Demand side management (DSM) is the planning and implementation of those utility designed to influence customer use of electricity in ways that will produce desired changes in the utility's load shape. It is conspicuous that the peak load control of DSM is efficiently adopted. In this paper, the package type air conditioner(A/C) mounted radio controlled switch. During the summer of 1990 KEPCO conducted tests in Seoul areas to determine the economic feasibility of interrupting A/C units for short periods of time during peak load periods. These tests were performed between July 30 and September 20 and were limited to the hours of between 1 and 6 p.m. These tests indicated that each A/C contributes approximately 4.5kW to the system peak and can be switched off 10 minutes out of each 1/2 hour without causing the customer any discomfort. Switching each A/C off for 10 minutes out of each 1/2 hour results in a peak load demand reduction of one kW per unit.
