  • In this paper the multiple three rectifiers for the power factor correction are proposed, analyzed and designed. The multiple three phase rectifiers draw sinusoidal ac currents from the ac voltage sources with nearly unity input power factor and operate with PWM making the control circuit simple and system cost low. Outstandingly it reduces the rated power capacity of devices and the input filter size by reducing input current ripples. Moreover design rules can be obtained from input and output current equations. With the proposed rules, input power factor and output power capacity are determined approximately. Finally these design rules are verified with computer simulations.

  • This paper analyses magnetic flux saturation of matching transformer considering characteristic of dynamic voltage restorer(DVR) system to solve voltage sags which are considered the dominant disturbances affecting power quality. This DVR consist of PWM inverter to inject arbitrary voltage, LC low pass filter and matching transformer for isolation and grid connection. However, the matching transformer has an excess of inrush current by magnetic flux saturation in the core of transformer. Due to this inrush current, the rating of matching transformers is double for needed nominal rating for protection of DVR. Therefore, in this paper, an advanced modeling method of magnetic flux saturation is used to analyze a magnitude and characteristic of magnetizing current. Simulation and experimental results considering characteristic of DVR system are provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed analysis method.

  • In this paper, the development of the RF power supply for Remote Plasma System is discussed. 7kW, 400kHz Remote Plasma Generator is designed and tested. The main power stage is used for the HB PWM inverter with an LC filter in the secondary circuit. The operation characteristics of Remote Plasma Generator are verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper proposed a novel current control strategy on active power filters using p-q-r instantaneous power theory which can compensate the line current harmonics and the neutral line current in unbalanced and/or distorted source conditions in three-phase four-wire systems. The proposed current control method is based on a sinusoidal PWM for fully-digital implementation which was compared with a hysteresis PWM. Simulation results showed good performance of the proposed current control strategy on shunt type APFs.

  • This paper describes the design of a 2-phase stepping motor driver using CPLD. The driver IC such as L297, which is mostly used has some difficulties in PWM current control because of the switching noise of power MOSFETs. The switching noise causes current ripple and acoustic noise. To reduce the switching noise, we designed a digital filter using VHDL. Also we designed constant current method for 1-2 phase(half step) excitation to reduce the torque ripple. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. It is enabling further enhancements of stepping motor drive technology broadening the range of applications for the stepping motors.

  • This paper introduces the development of hydraulic cylinder with magnetic sensors detecting absolute and precise position for automation of excavator. The system which is developed can detect absolute position with a little displacement by using algorithm for recognizing datum points, 114 divider algorithm and high precision algorithm improved position precision. We alse evaluate the developed system under the load disturbance and add band pass filter to the previous's signal process circuit for the protecting magnetic sensors's saturation.

  • This paper proposed the strategies for controlling both the heater temperature and the output voltage of a single-phase inverter for the heat treatment. The single-phase inverter system for the heat treatment controls the heater temperature to its reference one, and also it limits the inverter output voltage to 60 V for safety. The stability may be deteriorated due to the large time constant difference between the heater temperature and inverter output voltage. In order to ensure the stability, a hysteresis on/off control approach for the heater temperature control is adapted, and both the open-loop and the closed-loop control strategies of the output voltage are suggested. The performances for the proposed strategies are demonstrated with the experiments.

  • 계통 연계형 인버터에는 고조파 전류 저감을 위한 필터를 필요로 한다. 고조파 저감을 위한 필터로는 LCL 필터가 주로 사용되고 있다. 하지만 최근에 연구되고 있는 LLCL 필터의 경우 LCL 필터의 캐패시터 단에 직렬로 L을 추가한 형태로 LC 직렬공진을 통하여 LCL 필터에 비해 PWM 주파수 대역의 고조파를 좀 더 효과적으로 저감 할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 기존연구에서는 LLCL 필터의 공진을 억제하기 위한 댐핑 방법 및 효과가 고려되어 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 PWM 주파수 고조파 저감효과는 댐핑저항이 없는 경우와 동일한 효과를 얻으면서, LLCL 필터의 공진을 효과적으로 억제하는 LLCL 필터를 제안하고, 그 타당성을 시뮬레이션을 통해 입증하였다.

A New High Efficiency PWM Single-Switch Isolated Converter

  • The flyback converter is one of the most attractive isolated converters in small power applications because of its simple structure. However, it suffers from high device stress, large transformer size, and high voltage stress across switch and diode. To solve these problems a new cost-effective PWM single-switch isolated converter is proposed. The proposed converter has no output filter inductor, reduced voltage stress on the secondary devices, and reduced transformer size. Moreover, the switch turnoff loss is reduced and no dissipative snubber across the secondary diode is required. Therefore, it features a simple structure, low cost, and high efficiency. The operational principle and characteristics of proposed converter are presented compared with flyback converter and verified experimentally.

  • 본 논문은 단상풀브릿지 구조를 갖는 계통연계형 전압형 PWM 인버터를 위한 필터설계를 목적으로 한다. 단상풀브릿지 전압형 PWM 인버터의 교류출력단 전압과 계통전압의 관계를 분석하여 필터인덕터에 흐르는 스위칭리플전류의 크기를 정량적으로 구하였다. 이러한 분석을 기초로 하여 계통주입전류의 기본파성분에 대한 리플전류의 비율을 평가함수로 하는 필터인덕터의 설계법을 제시하였다. 제안된 설계방법을 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.
