Based on the detailed analysis of output characteristics of PV array and residential load usage pattern, a design method to calculate optimal battery capacity for stand-alone PV generation systems is proposed. And also, according to power flow Actual irradiation and temperature data are analyzed to compose a PV array simulator and also six representative home appliances are electrically modeled for load simulator, along with 24hours usage pattern. The surplus and insufficient power can be calculated from the proposed simulation platform, so that selection of an optimal battery capacity can be possible. The theoretical analysis and design process will be explained, along with informative simulation results.
The maximum power point tracking(MPPT) is important part pf PV generating system, because of nonlinear characteristic of PV array. Many MPPT algorithms have been developed and proposed, but partially shaded in PV generating system, these algorithms can not track maximum power point. This paper explains the partially shaded conditions in the PV generating system and describes a novel new MPPT algorithm. To verify the proposed novel algorithm, PSIM simulation tool is used in this paper, and proper 3kW PV module modeling is made. As a result, the right maximum power point(11PP) of PV PCS can be tracked directly under shading effect for any mismatched condition in solar array.

This paper proposes an operational algorithm for a Photovoltaic Power-Hardware-In-Loop Simulator that is designed to improve the control algorithm and reliability of the PV Inverter. There was an instability problem in the PV PHILS with the conventional algorithm when it was connected tothe PV inverter. Initially, a real-time based computing unit with mathematical modeling of the PV array is implemented and a DC amplifier and an isolated device for DC power measurement are integrated. Several experiments were performed based on theabove concept undercertain conditions, which showed that the proposed algorithm is more effective for the PV characteristic test and grid evaluation test than the conventional method.
The primary concern in designing any PV system is the determination of its optimum size. It is generally inadequate to use monthly or daily average insolation, and estimated number of continuous no sun days to determine array and battery capacities because the dynamic behavior of PV system and the stochastic nature of solar radiation also significantly influence the required array and storage capacity. Simulation method uses hourly meterological data and hourly load data to simulate the energy flow in a PV system, and predicts the system reliabilities under assumed array and battery sizes. Stand alone system for operating efficiency analysis of Photovoltaics system were discribed in this paper.
This paper describes a new inverter active inverter between a photovoltaic(PV) array and single-phase utility that avoid the bulky input(60Hz) transformer on the AC side. The interface employs a pwm boost converter on the DC side followed by a pwm boost converter on the DC side followed by a pwm current-forced single-phase rectifier for injecting the power from the PV array into the mains. The current waveform at the AC side remains sinusoidal and exactly in phase at all time. The circuit also has the advantage of requiring fewer switching device than high-frequency link system. This paper describes modeling of PV array and new system topology. Simulation results on the performance of the connection are also presented.

Under partial shading condition, the multiple local maxima can be existed on the output characteristics of PV array. In case of the conventional MPPTs (i.e P&O or IncCond), the failure of maximum power point tracking could be occurred under partial shading condition(PSC). The problems are deduced by the analysis of conventional MPPTs. In this paper, a real maximum power point tracking for PV array under partially shaded condition is proposed. And proposed MPPT is analyzed by case study. It is confirmed by simulation results that the proposed MPPT can track the real MPP under partial shading condition.
The paper proposes a simulation model of grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system) using on PSCAD/EMTDC, a reliable power system and apparatus transient analysis program. A equivalent circuit model of a solar cell is used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling are deduced from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) model is presented and current control scheme is implemented for VSI control. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is applied for controlling the PV system. Simulation case study provides V-I and V-P characteristics of solar array and PV system control performance for irradiation changes.

On BIPV systems, especially roof-top PV systems, the power generation is easier to be reduced due to the shades of facilities nearby, or roof itself. To secure profitability of roof-top PV systems, the optimal design of solar arrays through the precise shading analysis is an important item of design considerations. In this paper, an optimization system for array design of roof-top PVs is to be developed using three-dimensional Geospatial Information System(GIS). The profitability of income and expense is considered through the shading analysis of entire roofs. By applying the system to project for validation, the adequacy and the improvement of NPV of the system were verified compared to expert's design. The system has significance by reason that PV modules are placed through rules established with expert knowledge and geometric rules were applied to reflect the constructability and maintainability.
Recently the renewable energy has been used widely and the importance of renewable sources is bigger than before. And the government enforced a law to the public buildings to install the renewable energy facilities. The capacity of facilities was 5% of total construction cost until April 13, 2011. Since then, the government changed the law from 5% of total construction cost to 10% of predicted energy usage for the resonable use of the renewable energy facilities. In this study, the comparative analysis is conducted according to the law to the building installed PV system through the Energy Plus simulation. And the method for improving renewable energy supply ratio was analyzed using existing PV array. Adjusting the PV array angle is the best way to generate more electric power without additional fee. When applying the month optimum angle, 3,600kWh of electric power are more generated compared to the existing angle.

We propose maximum power extraction from a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) array during partial shading conditions. Partial shading is unavoidable during power extraction from rooftop PV systems due to nearby tall buildings (construction of additional floors) and trees (growth of trees). Many reconfiguration techniques can be used to extract maximum power in partial shading conditions, but in several cases, the real maximum power output is not achieved. In this study, a new switched PV technique is proposed to enhance the power output. The proposed technique is simple to use and more cost effective than other reconfiguration techniques. Therefore, it is suitable for rooftop applications. The power output of the proposed technique is compared with that of existing techniques with similar shading patterns. Eight panels with ratings of 250 watts (2 kW) each are used for testing. MATLAB simulation and hardware verification are done for the proposed and existing techniques. The proposed technique is implemented on a $4{\times}2$ PV array, although it can be extended to a number of arrays.
