Objectives : To study trends in complementary medical therapy for the allergic rhinitis. This study analyzed research on allergic rhinitis in PubMed. Methods : We searched PubMed related to complementary medical therapy for allergic rhinitis. We analyzed 25 research papers and examined published journals, years countries, and their methods, objectives, results, interventions, participants, periods and instruments of assessment. Results : The method of studies was mostly randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. There were research papers concerning treatment and prevention with herbal medicine, acupuncture, diet, etc. There were more positive results compared to negative results for treatment and prevention. Most studies were carried out during the winter/spring period. The median for number of participants was 90.54 persons. Diagnostic criteria for enrolment were nasal symptoms, allergic skin test, serum, nasal discharge allergen specific IgE eosinophil, etc. Assessment for outcomes were nasal symptoms, serum, nasal discharge allergen specific IgE eosinophil and Quality of Life Questionnaire. Conclusions : It is necessary to study effects of acupuncture and herb medicines for allergic rhinitis and more in-depth research about trends in complementary medical therapy for allergic rhinitis.

Objective : To research the trends of study related to myofascial pain syndrome(MPS) and acupuncture in PubMed, and to establish the hereafter direction of myofascial pain syndrome(MPS) with acupuncture. Methods : We searched in PubMed, with myofascial pain syndrome and acupuncture, trigger point and acupuncture limitted by abstract. Results : 1. The pattern of the study was as follows : Review article(11), Clinical(11) rondomized controlled trials(21). We further estimated 24 articles. 2. Many of these studies provide equivocal results because of designs, sample size and the other, affirmative view is 10 articles, contradictive view is 6 articles, and somewhat reservative regards are 8 articles for therapeutic effect of myofascial pain syndrome with acupuncture. 3. Suggestions on further endolphin related research, neurophysiology, biophysics and phamacology are made. 4. More clinical data would be needed to prove effects of myofascial pain syndrome with acupuncture.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to study trends in Western(North America and Europe) medical treatments for the acne vulgaris. This study analyzed research on acne vulgaris in PubMed. Methods : We searched PubMed related the latest medical treatments for acne vulgaris. We analyzed 21 research papers and examined published journals, years, countries, and their methods, results, interventions, participants, periods and instruments of assessment. Results : The method of studies was mostly double-blind, randomized controlled trial. There were research papers concerning treatment with light-lazer, topical agents, and oral contraceptives. There were more positive results compared to negative results for efficacy of treatment. The median for number of participants was 364.0 persons. The median for periods was 67.8 days. Assessment for outcomes were lesion counts, adverse effects, VAS, etc. Conclusions : It is necessary to study latest trends of Western medical treatments for acne vulgaris and understand strengths and weaknesses of those. It will be helpful to more in-depth develop clinical treatments of Oriental Medicine for acne vulgaris.

Peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB) is the most common cause of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and its frequency has been declining over the past decades. However, mortality from PUB persists, and it is still a serious challenge in clinical practice. Although endoscopic intervention is the basic treatment modality for PUB, pharmacological therapy is an important adjunct. The emergence of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) enables maintenance of intragastric pH >6, which greatly helps in the treatment of PUB. Continuous intravenous infusion of high-dose PPI reduces the re-bleeding rate, thereby helping avoid additional surgery in patients with high-risk stigmata. Moreover, administration of PPIs prior to endoscopy may reduce the need for additional endoscopic intervention. Recently introduced gastric acid suppressants, such as potassium-competitive acid blockers, have shown promising results in further treatment of PUB.

Objectives The aim of this study is to find the future perspective through analyzing the trends of acupuncture treatment for gouty arthritis (GA) by searching the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and PubMed. Methods We searched clinical studies about acupuncture treatment for GA through the searching the electronic database of CNKI and PubMed. We analyzed the characteristics of selected studies according to research design, sample size, publication year, treatment methods, evaluation criteria and adverse events. Results Twenty-nine studies published from January 1, 2015 to July 1, 2022 were selected. They consisted of 25 randomized controlled trials, 3 non-randomized controlled trials, and 1 case reports. In these studies, several types of acupuncture treatments were performed and the most treatment was conventional acupuncture treatment with fine needles. The most commonly used evaluation outcome was effective rate. Conclusions Through this result, the Chinese literature positively reported the effect of acupuncture on GA. However, high-quality evaluation by rigorous research using well-designed and more objective outcomes is required.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to help find the future prospects by analyzing the trends of scalp acupuncture treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) by searching the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and PubMed. Methods We searched clinical studies adopting scalp acupuncture treatment as a main intervention for PD through the searching the database of CNKI and PubMed. We analyzed the characteristics of selected studies especially according to study design, publication year, sample size, treatment period, treatment methods, outcomes criteria and adverse events. Results Twelve randomized controlled trials studies published from January 1, 2012 to July 1, 2023 were selected. In these studies, two types of scalp acupuncture treatments were performed and the most common treatment was Jiao shunfa's scalp acupuncture with fine needles. The most commonly used acupoints were "Chorea tremor control area", 風池 (GB20), 四神聰 (EX-HN1) and 百會 (GV20). The most commonly used outcome measures were effective rate, unified Parkinson disease rating scale (UPDRS) and UPDRS-III. Conclusions Through these results, we found that the Chinese review literature positively reported the effects of scalp acupuncture on PD. However, more high-quality evaluation using the well-designed studies including more objective outcomes should be required.

본 연구는 국외 의학데이터베이스인 PubMed를 중심으로 국내 의학데이터베이스인 KoreaMed와 KMBase의 특징 및 기능을 비교하고 개선방향을 도출해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행연구를 토대로 비교 분석 기준을 추출하고 각 데이터베이스의 공식 홈페이지를 통해 그 특징들을 정리하였다, 그 결과 국내 의학데이터베이스는 공통적으로 콘텐츠 측면에서 시소러스와 저널선정기준을 개선하고, 검색기능 측면에서 상세 검색 필드, 관련 정보자원간의 링크, 검색결과의 정렬과 공유 기능을 보완할 필요가 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

Finding publications that propose alternative methods to animal experiments is an important but time-consuming task since researchers need to perform various queries to literature databases and screen many articles to assess two important aspects: the relevance of the article to the research question, and whether the article's proposed approach qualifies to being an alternative method. We are currently developing a Web application to support finding alternative methods to animal experiments. The current (under development) version of the application utilizes external tools and resources for document processing, and relies on the PubAnnotation ecosystem for annotation querying, annotation storage, dictionary-based tagging of cell lines, and annotation visualization. Currently, our two PubAnnotation repositories for discourse elements contain annotations for more than 110k PubMed documents. Further, we created an annotator for cell lines that contain more than 196k terms from Cellosaurus. Finally, we are experimenting with TextAE for annotation visualization and for user feedback.

Using the simulated data set which is based upon the data set merging Economically Active Population Survey(EAPS) and the Supplementary Survey (SS) in 1998-2001, this paper examines the relevance of alternative programs Unemployment Insurance Savings Account (UISA) and Pension-funded Unemployment Benefit (PUB) - to unemployment insurance system in Korea. Estimating the relative size of unemployment benefit and IA balance under a specific type of UISA or PUB by simulation, this paper yields the two main results. First, replacing UI by UISA with the same benefit being maintained would be beneficial in terms of search efficiency in general, although its effectiveness is a little doubtful as for the non-regular workers. Second, the PUB is better than UISA as an alternative to UI, and also works relatively well even for the non-regular workers.
