  • A fiat-plate or vacuum tube solar collector have been mainly used for hot water supply of house because of some being difficult to get uniform energy density, so little applied into industrial field. This study is to apply the PTC(parabolic trough collector) solar collector into industrial field such as sludge dewatering system for energy reduction. The real scale system which composed of PTC Solar Collector and Thermal Dewatering (TDW) is established. PTC solar collector is designed to produce a hot water with $80^{\circ}C$ of temperature. And size of TDW is $630{\times}630mm$. Hot water produced from PTC solar collector is supplied into heating plate of TDW, and sludge like waterworks or wastewater is dewatered. PTC solar collector with $10m^2$ of area produce energy of average 5,618 kcal. As according to results from real scale performance, solar collector takes charge 94 % of the amount that TDW consume energy which is so large part if compare with boiler. It means that PTC solar collector is useful to apply industrial field under the condition of sufficient solar radiation. And it is analyzed that TDW by PTC solar collector has an economical validity.

  • Solar collectors to be applied are mainly flat-plate or vacuum tube collector which is used for hot water supply of house because of low heat value and low temperature. There are a necessity to expand applicable scope of solar collector into the industrial process heat source and air conditioner for coping with renewable energy policy of government and industrial trend. This study is to analysis the performance of PTC solar collector of concentrating type and flat-plate of non-concentrating. For this, temperature difference and heating value as insolation of air outside is measured from these two collectors mounted on 2-axial solar tracking system. It is investigated that temperature profile obtained from PTC solar collector is uniform and collecting heat per unit area is 6.8kcal/$m^2$ min which is about 3 times with compare to flat-plate collector of 2kcal/$m^2$min. Also the amount of heat to be produced from PTC solar collector is 3 Mcal/$m^2$ which is about 2 times with compare to flat-plate collector of 1.5Mcal/$m^2$ as a result of operating these two collectors during one month. Therefore, it is obtained that heat collecting performance of PTC solar collector is superior to flat-plate.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the performance of a parabolic trough solar collector (PTC) for water heating and to validate the model performance. The simulated model was compared, calibrated and verified with the experimental results. RMSE (Root mean square error) was used to calibrate the convective heat transfer coefficient between the absorber pipe and the ambient air which was the main factor affecting the heat transfer associated with the PTC. The calibrated model was better fitted with the experimental model. The maximum, minimum and mean deviation between the measured and predicted water temperatures differed only $0.81^{\circ}C$, $0.09^{\circ}C$ and $0.31^{\circ}C$ respectively in the calibrated model. RMSE values were decreased from 0.5389 to 0.4910, 0.0134 to 0.0125 and R-squared was increased from 0.9955 to 0.9956 after calibration. The temperature of water was increased from $33.7^{\circ}C$ to $48^{\circ}C$ in 12hour test. The thermal efficiency of the collector was calculated to be 55%. The calibrated model showed good agreement with the experimental data for model validation.
