A New PSIM Model for PV Panels Employing Datasheet-based Parameter Tuning (데이터시트 기반의 새로운 PSIM 태양광 모델)

  • In the simulation of photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning systems, PSIM is a widely accepted circuit simulation platform because of its fast speed and C-code support. PSIM provides two kinds of generic PV panel models: functional model and physical model. Whereas the functional model simulates PV in the standard test condition (STC) only, the physical model can emulate changing PV characteristics under varying temperatures and irradiation conditions and is thus more suitable for system simulation. However, the physical model requires complicated parameters from users, and thus it is prone to errors and is difficult to use. In this study, a new PSIM model for PV is presented to solve these problems. The proposed model utilizes manufacturers' datasheet values specified under STC only and excludes user-defined information from input parameters. To achieve good accuracy even in varying environmental conditions, single-diode model parameters are successively tuned to a time-varying virtual datasheet. Comparison with a conventional physical model shows that the proposed model provides more accurate simulation according to error analysis based on the EN50530 standard.

  • In the paper, a three-phase-in three-phase-out Matrix Converter(MC) for the PMSM Is simulated by the PSIM simulator. A lighter L-C filters are installed at the input side of the Converter to remove the current harmonics around the switching frequency. In modelling the Matrix Converter, the PSIM is the powerful tool that the basic researches can be quickly performed within the given periods, because the simulation calculation by PSIM is very fast, compared to other simulators such as Matlab, Saber, and Pspice.

  • This paper presents a method to identify the equivalent circuit parameters by experiment results of supercapacitor model based on transmission line. In order to validate this method, a model of supercapacitor is verified and implemented by using the PSIM software. Experimental and simulation results are compared to verify the electric modeling of supercapacitors.

  • 최근 에너지 시장에 많은 변화가 일어나면서 국내 에너지 수급 현황에도 큰 영향을 끼치고 있다[1-2]. 발전소의 블랙 다운시 Battery Panel에서 전원을 공급받아 DC MOTOR를 기동하여 중요한 시설에 전원을 공급한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PSIM 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 37kW급 DC MOTOR 기동제어를 시뮬레이션 하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 초기 기동 전류는 정격전류 170A의 200% 이내에서 동작해야 하는 조건을 만족 시켰다.

  • The study for improvement of power qualify is widely performed, because most equipments used semi-conductor are very sensitive for power quality. In this paper, we performed modeling for STATCOM system which developed using SCRs, and suggested the compensation principle of reactive Power by simulations used PSIM software. We will apply this results to 30kVA STATCOM under manufacturing.

  • The importance of energy is growing according to the energy shortage and environmental concerns. Accordingly, in order to solve the problems about the use of fossil fuel, a renewable energy sources are needed. Global renewable energy power industry's position in the renewable energy market becomes important and new technology development is also essential. MG set composed by the induction motor and permanent magnet synchronous generator for simulating a renewable energy source is based on a suitable experiment equipment. The torque generated by applying a voltage to the induction motor in MG set is used as an input of the permanent magnet synchronous generator. In Psim simulation, the characteristics of the induction motor model was formulated and the output torque characteristics of the motor was controlled using the induction motor side inverter, In this paper, the comparison analysis between Psim simulation and the output characteristics of the MG set is performed in order to identify a renewable energy power system more accurately.

  • This paper describes the PSIM simulator for the analysis of the series type HEV operation. The traction force of the series type HEV of which engine is electrically coupled with a traction motor is supplied from the traction motor only. The rating of each power train components, such as gear, motor, ESS, ICE/generator, is designed with the Energy-Based Modeling method and the Electrical Peaking Hybrid(ELPH) method. Under driving cycle, the designed series HEV is evaluated with the developed PSIM simulator. A comparison between the conventional braking and the regenerative braking is performed with the average motor input power. And the fuel economy analysis is carried out on the basis of the simulation results.

  • Magnetic circuit is a physical modeling method that is useful in designing and analyzing power transformers, especially for a priori evaluation of leakage and magnetizing inductance before actual production. In this study, a novel modeling approach that uses PSIM magnetic elements adopting gyrator and permeance-capacitances is investigated. A formula to determine the permeance-capacitors in the core and leakage path are established, and a simulation jig is devised to link the physical model and the electrical terminal characteristics with an automated parameter determination process. The derived formula is verified by measurement results of the prototype transformer samples. Given its accuracy and simplicity, this approach is suitable for analyzing and designing LLC resonant transformers whose leakage and magnetizing inductance are very critical to circuit operation.
