An algorithm for evaluating time-related human reliability using instrumentation cues and procedure cues

  • The performance time of human operators has been recognized as a key aspect of human reliability in socio-complex systems, including nuclear industries. Because of the importance of the time factor, most existing human reliability assessment methods provide ways to quantify human error probabilities (HEPs) that are associated with the performance time. To quantify such kinds of HEPs, it is crucial to rationally predict the length of time required and time available and compare them. However, there have not been detailed guidelines that identify the critical cue presentation time or initial time of human performance, which is important to calculate the time information. In this paper, we introduce a time-related HEP calculation technique with a decision algorithm that determines the critical cue and its timing. The calculation process is presented with the application examples. It is expected that the proposed algorithm will reduce the variability in the time-related reliability assessment and strengthen the scientific evidence of the assessment process. Multihazard capacity optimization of an NPP using a multi-objective genetic algorithm and sampling-based PSA

  • After the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami (Japan, 2011), regulatory efforts to mitigate external hazards have increased both the safety requirements and the total capital cost of nuclear power plants (NPPs). In these circumstances, identifying not only disaster robustness but also cost-effective capacity setting of NPPs has become one of the most important tasks for the nuclear power industry. A few studies have been performed to relocate the seismic capacity of NPPs, yet the effects of multiple hazards have not been accounted for in NPP capacity optimization. The major challenges in extending this problem to the multihazard dimension are (1) the high computational costs for both multihazard risk quantification and system-level optimization and (2) the lack of capital cost databases of NPPs. To resolve these issues, this paper proposes an effective method that identifies the optimal multihazard capacity of NPPs using a multi-objective genetic algorithm and the two-stage direct quantification of fault trees using Monte Carlo simulation method, called the two-stage DQFM. Also, a capacity-based indirect capital cost measure is proposed. Such a proposed method enables NPP to achieve safety and cost-effectiveness against multi-hazard simultaneously within the computationally efficient platform. The proposed multihazard capacity optimization framework is demonstrated and tested with an earthquake-tsunami example.

격납건물종합누설률시험 주기연장을 위한 웹기반 소외결말분석 프로그램 개발 및 적용 (Development of Web-based Off-site Consequence Analysis Program and its Application for ILRT Extension)

  • For an off-site consequence analysis at nuclear power plant, MELCOR Accident Consequence Code System(MACCS) II code is widely used as a software tool. In this study, the algorithm of web-based off-site consequence analysis program(OSCAP) using the MACCS II code was developed for an Integrated Leak Rate Test (ILRT) interval extension and Level 3 probabilistic safety assessment(PSA), and verification and validation(V&V) of the program was performed. The main input data for the MACCS II code are meteorological, population distribution and source term information. However, it requires lots of time and efforts to generate the main input data for an off-site consequence analysis using the MACCS II code. For example, the meteorological data are collected from each nuclear power site in real time, but the formats of the raw data collected are different from each site. To reduce the efforts and time for risk assessments, the web-based OSCAP has an automatic processing module which converts the format of the raw data collected from each site to the input data format of the MACCS II code. The program also provides an automatic function of converting the latest population data from Statistics Korea, the National Statistical Office, to the population distribution input data format of the MACCS II code. For the source term data, the program includes the release fraction of each source term category resulting from modular accident analysis program(MAAP) code analysis and the core inventory data from ORIGEN. These analysis results of each plant in Korea are stored in a database module of the web-based OSCAP, so the user can select the defaulted source term data of each plant without handling source term input data.

잡음 분산 추정을 위한 개선된 Partial Sample Average 알고리즘 (Modified Partial Sample Average Algorithm for Noise Variance Estimation)

  • 잡음 분산 값은 SNR(signal-to-noise ratio) 추정이나 MMSE(minimum mean square error) 계산, 채널 임펄스 응답의 추정 등에 사용되는 중요한 파라미터이다. 채널이 시간에 따라 변하는 무선 통신 환경에서, 신호와 섞여 있는 잡음과 간섭 신호의 정확한 추정에는 그 한계가 있으며 이로 인해 발생하는 추정 오차는 수신기의 데이터 검출 성능을 저하시킨다. 훈련열을 이용하여 채널을 추정하였을 경우 추정된 채널 임펄스 응답 신호 중 다중 경로 신호는 소수에 불과하고 나머지 대부분의 계수는 잡음 성분만을 포함하는 신호이다. 이러한 특징을 이용하여 채널의 추정 계수로 잡음 분산을 추정하는 방법이 기존에 제시되어 있다. 여기서 제안하는 알고리즘은 기존 알고리즘인 PSA(partial sample average)와 비교해 연산량에서 차이가 거의 없이 구현되며, 3GPP TDD[1]에서의 모의 실험을 통하여 기존 알고리즘보다 더 정확한 분산 값을 찾아냄을 확인하였다.

전립선암 진단을 위한 바이오마커 패널 (A Panel of Serum Biomarkers for Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer)

  • Cancer biomarkers are using in the diagnosis, staging, prognosis and prediction of disease progression. But, there are not sufficiently profiled and validated in early detection and risk classification of prostate cancer. In this study, we have devoted to finding a panel of serum biomarkers that are able to detect the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The serum samples were consisted of 111 prostate cancer and 343 control samples and examined. Eleven biomarkers were constructed in this study, and then nine biomarkers were relevant to candidate biomarkers by using t test. Finally, four biomarkers, PSA, ApoA2, CYFRA21.1 and TTR, were selected as the prostate cancer biomarker panel, logistic regression was used to identify algorithms for diagnostic biomarker combinations(AUC = 0.9697). A panel of combination biomarkers is less invasive and could supplement clinical diagnostic accuracy.

일괄검사를 위한 BIST 설계의 FPGA 구현 (A FPGA Implementation of BIST Design for the Batch Testing)

  • 본 논문에서는 FPGA에 회로를 설계할 때, 일괄검사가 가능한 BIST의 효율적인 BILBO(이하 EBILBO)를 설계한다. 제안된 일괄검사 알고리즘은 회로의 복잡도와 규모가 큰 회로에서 하나의 핀(pin)으로 정상속도에서 회로검사가 가능하다. BIST 설계에서, 필요한 검사패턴은 의사 랜덤패턴으로 생성하고, 출력은 다중 입력 쉬프트 레지스터에 의한 병렬 신호분석으로 검사하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 VHDL로 동작적 기술하므로 검사패턴 생성과 응답분석 및 압축에 대한 모델을 용이하게 변경할 수 있다. FPGA상에 설계된 회로에서, 구현된 BIST의 EBILBO의 면적과 성능은 ISCAS89 벤치마크 회로를 통하여 평가하였다. 600 셀(cell) 이상의 회로에서 EBILBO 면적은 30% 이하로 감소하고, 검사패턴은 500K 정도로 신축성 있게 생성되고, 고장검출률의 범위는 88.3%에서 100%임을 확인하였다. 일괄검사의 BIST를 위한 EBILBO 동작은 정상모드와 병행하여 실시간으로 검사모드를 $s+n+(2^s/2^p-1)$시간 내에 동시에 수행할 수 있다.(CUT의 PI 수;n, 레지스터 수;s, p는 다항식의 차수). 제안된 알고리즘은 VHDL 코딩으로 설계와 검사가 병행될 수 있는 라이브러리로 구축되어 DFT에 광범위하게 응용되어질 수 있다.
