  • Prestressed concrete girder(PSC girder) bridges have been used widely at the railway as well as highway because they are great in the functional and economical efficiency. Also they have the advantage of convenience of design and construction. However it could be easily verified that the section of PSC girder is excessive design, which has much redundancy against design loads. Thus, in this paper the formulation of the optimum design for PSC girder railway bridge is suggested and dominant design variables and constraints are inquired as performing the optimum design. In order to effective optimum design, design variables are formulated as PSC girder sectional dimension and girder space. The objective is adopted as total cost of PSC girder railway bridge. Also, constraints are formulated according to Korean railway design specification and considering construction-ability such as PS anchorage and girder space. Using the proposed optimum design system, optimum PSC girder railway bridge design has been performed. And from the results of analysis it is suggested to denote the optimum section which satisfies the structural safety and economical efficiency all together.

  • The prestressed concrete girder bridges have been used widely at the domestic national road as well as highway because it is great in the functional and economical efficiency. Also it has the advantage of convenience of design and construction due to being given standard sections. However it could be easily verified that a standard section of P.S.C girder is excessive design, which has much more redundancy than is necessary against design loads.   • In this paper, a new a new full-bridge soft-switching phase shift PWM DC-DC Converter has been proposed, which is suitable for fuel cell based power generation system. The proposed converter has outstanding advantage over the conventional DC-DC converter with respect to high efficiency, high power density, and hish component utilization. In special. the proposed converter has predominant high boosting output voltage and high efficiency characteristics under the inherently severs low output voltage of the fuel cell through the overall load conditions. Moreover, the developed converter has been experimentally tested with the help of a fuel cell simulator, and can generate the V-I characteristics of proton exchange membrane(PEM) fuel cell, so that the performance of the proposed converter could be effectively examined and the validity of the converter could be verified.

  • Electret filter media are used in general ventilation filters, disposable respirators, vehicle cabin filters, vacuum cleaners and room air cleaners. There are basic mechanisms of interception, inertial impaction, diffusion, gravitational settling, electrostatic attraction by which an aerosol particle can be deposited onto a fiber in a filter. The ability of fine particle removal strongly depends on the electrostatic forces between particles and polarized fibers. Thus, the stability of the fiber polarization is a major factor in the reliability of electret filters. In this study, the electret filter is made by electrospinning process using Polystyrene which is dissolved by 5 : 5 of Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and Dimethylformamide (DMF). Also the electrical properties and the filtration performances of electrospun filter media are Quantitatively investigated. Electrical properties of electrospun filters have been studied on surface charge potential and surface charge density. Also the filtration performance of the electret filters are evaluated on collection efficiency. The surface charge potential and the surface charge density of electrospun PS filters are increased with increasing applied voltage and saturated at 30 kV of applied voltage. Also collection efficiency of electro spun filters is increased with increasing surface charge potential and surface charge density. But the surface charge potential is decreased by natural decay and it causes deterioration of particle collection efficiency.

A Pulser System with Parallel Spark Gaps at High Repetition Rate

  • A primary interest of this work is to develop an efficient and powerful repetitive pulser system for the application of ultra wide band generation. The important component of the pulser system is a small-sized coaxial type spark gap with planar electrodes filled with SF6 gas. A repetitive switching action by the coaxial spark gap generates two consecutive pulses in less than a microsecond with rise times of a few hundred picoseconds (ps). A set of several parameters for the repetitive switching of the spark gap is required to be optimized in charging and discharging systems of the pulser. The parameters in the charging system include a circuit scheme, circuit elements, the applied voltage and current ratings from power supplies. The parameters in the discharging system include the spark gap geometry, electrode gap distance, gas type, gas pressure and the load. The characteristics of the spark gap discharge, such as breakdown voltage, output current pulse and recovery rate are too dynamic to control by switching continuously at a high pulse repetition rate (PRR). This leads to a low charging efficiency of the spark gap system. The breakthrough of the low charging efficiency is achieved by a parallel operation of two spark gaps system. The operational behavior of the two spark gaps system is presented in this paper. The work has focused on improvement of the charging efficiency by scaling the PRR of each spark gap in the two spark gaps system.

Antifuse Circuits and Their Applicatoins to Post-Package of DRAMs

  • Several methods for improving device yields and characteristics have been studied by IC manufacturers, as the options for programming components become diversified through the introduction of novel processes. Especially, the sequential repair steps on wafer level and package level are essentially required in DRAMs to improve the yield. Several repair methods for DRAMs are reviewed in this paper. They include the optical methods (laser-fuse, laser-antifuse) and the electrical methods (electrical-fuse, ONO-antifuse). Theses methods can also be categorized into the wafer-level(on wafer) and the package-level(post-package) repair methods. Although the wafer-level laser-fuse repair method is the most widely used up to now, the package-level antifuse repair method is becoming an essential auxiliary technique for its advantage in terms of cost and design efficiency. The advantages of the package-level antifuse method are discussed in this paper with the measured data of manufactured devices. With devices based on several processes, it was verified that the antifuse repair method can improve the net yield by more than 2%~3%. Finally, as an illustration of the usefulness of the package-level antifuse repair method, the repair method was applied to the replica delay circuit of DLL to get the decrease of clock skew from 55ps to 9ps.

Photosynthetic Responses to Dehydration in Green Pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)Leaves

  • Photosynthetic responses to dehydration were examined by the simulataneous measurement of O2 evolution and chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence in green pepper leaves. Dehydration was induced by immersing the plant roots directly in the Hoagland solution containing varying concentration (2-30%) of polyethylene glycol(PEG-6000) . Water potential of the leaf was decreased time-and concentation -dependently by PEG-treatment. The decrease in water potential of leaf was correlated with the decrease in both the maximal photosynthesis (Pmax) and quantum yield of O2 evolution, but Pmax dropped more rapidly than quantum yield at all water deficit conditions tested. However, Chl fluorescence parameters were not affected much. Dehydration did not change the initial fluorescence (Fo) and maximum photochemical efficiency(Fv/Fm) of photosystem(PS) II. Both the photochemical quenching (qP) and non-photochemical quenching(NPQ) were not changed by dehydration under low PFR(50 $\mu$mols m-2s-1 ). In contrast, under high PFR(270$\mu$mols m-2s-1)qP was slightly decreased while NPQ was greatly increased. The fast induction kinetics of Chl fluroecence showed no change in Chl fluorescence pattern by dehydration at high PFR (640 $\mu$mols m-2s-1 ), but exhibited a significant drop in peak level(Fp)at low PRFR (70$\mu$mols m-2s-1 ). PS I oxidation and reduction kinetics revealed normal reduction but delayed oxidation to P-700+, suggesting no lesionin electron flow from PSII to PSI , but impaired electron transport to NADP+,These results suggest that water stress caused by PEG-treatment results in the reduction of photosynthesis, promarily due to the reducted electron trasport from PSI to NADP+ or hampered subsequent steps involving Calvin Cycle.

액정성 고분자 블렌드의 편발광 (Polarized Light Emission of Liquid Crystalline Polymer Blends)

  • 액정성을 가지는 플로렌계 발광고분자에 비버정성 플로렌계 발광고분자를 첨가한 블렌드를 제조하여 에너지전달 효과와 흡광 및 발광 이방성에 대하여 고찰하였다. 비액정성 고분자를 액정성 고분자에 0.5wt% 첨가하고 360nm로 여기한 결과, 420nm에서 관찰되었던 액정성 고분자의 발광피크는 거의 사라졌으며 대신 비액정성 고분자에 의한 480nm에서의 새로운 발광피크가 관찰되었다. 블렌드 시료의 480nm 발광은 비액정성 고분자가 2.0wt% 첨가되었을때 가장 강했으며, 발광강도는 블렌딩 이전의 각 고분자보다 13배 증자하였다. 블렌드내의 분자들을 마찰 폴리이미드 기판상에서 가열-냉각시켜 배향시키면 시료의 발광 이방성과 order parameter는 각각 2.0 및 0.25를 나타내었다. 시간 상관 단광자 계수법 (TCSPC)에 의해 고찰한 결과, 마찰 폴리이미드 기판상에서의 배향에 의해 두 발광고분자간의 에너지전달에 필요한 시간은 93 ps만큼 단축되며 에너지전달 효율은 9% 증가함을 알 수 있었다.

멸치 자망의 망목선택성에 관하여 (Mesh Selectivity of the Gill Net for Anchovy, Engraulis japonica)

  • 충무, 남해, 기장 등지에서 사용하고 있는 멸치 자망어구에 대한 조사를 근거로 망목이 23.1mm, 21.6mm, 20.0mm인 세 가지 망지로서 성형률이 각각 0.65 및 0.55가 되도록 각 1폭씩, 6폭짜리 시험어구를 제작하고, 울산 근해에서 부산-404호(160ps, 800ps)로서 시험조업(1983년 7월 28일)한 어획결과를 가지고서 Ishida(1962)의 방법으로 망목선택성을 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 어획미수 161마리 중 $90\%$이상(148마리)이 경주부위에서 이망되었 다. 2. 경주 $C_n(cm)$와 체장 L(cm)와의 관계는 L=1.5 $C_n+4.1$로 표시할 수 있고 이때의 상관계수는 0.7로 나타났다. 3. 체장 L(cm)과 적정망목 M(cm)와의 관계는 L=4.8M으로 나타낼 수 있다.

FPGA based HW/SW co-design for vision based real-time position measurement of an UAV

  • Recently, in order to increase the efficiency and mission success rate of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), the necessity for formation flights is increased. In general, GPS (Global Positioning System) is used to obtain the relative position of leader with respect to follower in formation flight. However, it can't be utilized in environment where GPS jamming may occur or communication is impossible. Therefore, in this study, monocular vision is used for measuring relative position. General PC-based vision processing systems has larger size than embedded systems and is hard to install on small vehicles. Thus FPGA-based processing board is used to make our system small and compact. The processing system is divided into two blocks, PL(Programmable Logic) and PS(Processing system). PL is consisted of many parallel logic arrays and it can handle large amount of data fast, and it is designed in hardware-wise. PS is consisted of conventional processing unit like ARM processor in hardware-wise and sequential processing algorithm is installed on it. Consequentially HW/SW co-designed FPGA system is used for processing input images and measuring a relative 3D position of the leader, and this system showed RMSE accuracy of 0.42 cm ~ 0.51 cm.
