  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to review the research trends and to identify developmental direction of studies on community interventions according to the ecological model for workers with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) risk factors. Methods: Electronic databases including PsycINFO, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library and the reference lists of articles were searched. All articles were assessed in relation to inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 29 researches being reviewed. Each review was critically appraised by two authors using a guideline of PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses). Results: Nowadays, interventions in organizational level, integrated and web-based interventions are increasing to prevent CVD risk factors for workers. Even though the importance of psychosocial aspects to prevent CVD, the only 2 studies included psychosocial factors in the outcome variables. Also, 14% among 29 researches were based on theories. Conclusion: Psychosocial factors such as job stress, depression, and emotional labor could be CVD risk factors. Therefore, interventions including psychosocial aspects are needed to prevent workers' CVD risks more effectively. Theory-based interventions are needed to support interventions' effects and to develop the nursing science.

  • Cytotoxicity of dental restorative materials using cell culture technique has been extensively studied by various quantitative assays. The aim of this study was to investigate the microstructural change of damaged L292 cells which could not observed with light microscope. Cytotoxic effect of ZOE, Prisma APH (Densply International Inc., U.S.A.), Clearfil FII(Kuraray Co., Japan), Fuji II(GC Co., Japan) and Fuji II LC(GC Co., Japan) on cultured L292 cells were observed. Irreversible cell damage and cytolysis were found in ZOE and Fuji II groups. In Clearfil FII, mild to moderate cell damage was observed. APH group showed variable cytotoxicity. Moderate cell damage was found in Fuji II LC group. Cytotoxic effect were as follows : A condensation of the chromatin occureds along or adjacent to the inner membrane of the nuclear envelops. The nuclear envelope remained resonably intact but the contents were partially or completely lost. The cell nucleus contains clusters of markedly electron-dense interchromatin granules. The rough endoplasmic reticulum were dilated. In some mitochondira, matrix was disoriented and fused cristae were discernible. Mitochondiral swelling and woolly appearance were recognized. Large vacuoles and autolysosmes were found in cytoplasm. Some breaks of the cytoplasmic membrane and even cytolysis could be seen in dying cells.

  • Background: Maxillary sinusitis of odontogenic origin, also known as maxillary sinusitis of dental origin or odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (OMS), is a common disease in dental, otorhinolaryngologic, allergic, general, and maxillofacial contexts. Despite being a well-known disease entity, many cases are referred to otorhinolaryngologists by both doctors and dentists. Thus, early detection and initial diagnosis often fail to detect its odontogenic origin. Main body: We searched recent databases including MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, and the Cochrane Library using keyword combinations of "odontogenic," "odontogenic infection," "dental origin," "tooth origin," "sinusitis," "maxillary sinus," "maxillary sinusitis," "odontogenic maxillary sinusitis," "Caldwell Luc Procedure (CLP)," "rhinosinusitis," "functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)," "modified endoscopy-assisted maxillary sinus surgery (MESS)," and "paranasal sinus." Aside from the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) trial, there have been very few randomized controlled trials examining OMS. We summarized the resulting data based on our diverse clinical experiences. Conclusion: To promote the most efficient and accurate management of OMS, this article summarizes the clinical features of rhinosinusitis compared with OMS and the pathogenesis, microbiology, diagnosis, and results of prompt consolidated management of OMS that prevent anticipated complications. The true origin of odontogenic infections is also reviewed.

  • The radiopacity of six composite resins, three resin luting cements and ten filling materials were studied. The purpose was to obtain an indication of radiopacity value of different brands within each of these groups of materials and to show differences in radiopacities of filling materials and natural tooth structures. On radiographs, the optimal densities of standardized samples were determined by computer imaging system and radiopacity values of the materials were expressed in millimeter equivalent aluminum. Within the groups of materials studied, there was considerable variation in radiopacity. The composite resins of P-50, Z100 and Prisma AP.H displayed much higher radiopacities than aluminum. Panavia resin cement was shown to be similarly radiopaque to aluminum. Generally, the radiopacity of base and filling materials appeared to be higher than that of the enamel and dentin. If materials with substantial difference in radiopacity are used in combined applications for restorative treatment of teeth, lower radiopacity can interfere with the diagnosis and detection of gaps near the restoration.
