A Study on Development of Publicness Evaluation Index of Indoor Privately Owned Public Space Using Space Syntax - Focused on New York City Indoor Privately Owned Public Spaces - (공간구문론을 활용한 실내공개공지 공공성 평가지표 개발 연구 - 뉴욕시 실내공개공지를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a publicness evaluation index for indoor privately owned public spaces (POPS). In order to develop the index, 10 cases of indoor POPS in New York City were analyzed using Visibility Graph Analysis by evaluating its accessibility and visual openness. The results are as follows; (1) Accessibility and openness of indoor POPS were higher compared to other public spaces on the first floor. (2) Cases with high accessibility index installed a higher number of entrances. (3) Cases with high openness index were mostly composed of a glass wall. (4) The publicness index was high when the lobby and the indoor POPS are shared. (5) Atrium types were highly utilized and the evaluation index was also high whereas, linear types were less utilized and the evaluation index was lower.

  • 스톡홀름협약은 잔류성유기오염물질(POPs)의 위해로부터 국민의 건강과 환경을 보호하고자 동 물질의 저감 또는 근절을 목적으로 2004. 5. 17에 발효된 국제협약이다. 현재 150 여개국이 서명, 120개국이 비준하였으며 우리나라는 2001. 10. 4 서명하였다. 이 협약의 주요 의무사항은 의도적으로 생산되는 POPs 제품의 생산,사용 금지 또는 제한하고 비의도적으로 생산되는 POPs 배출저감 또는 근절(대상물질 : 다이옥신, 퓨란, HCB, PCBs)이다.

The Relationship between Perceptions of Organizational Politics and Perceived Work Performance: Focusing on the 3-way interaction Effect of Leader-member Exchange and Self-efficacy (조직정치지각과 지각된 업무성과: 리더-구성원 교환관계와 자기효능감의 삼원조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of perceptions of organizational politics(i.e., POPs) and leader-member exchange(i.e., LMX) on the perceived work performance. Also, this paper investigates the moderating effect of LMX on the relationship between POPs and work performance. Particularly, this study is to expand on prior research by investigating the three-way interaction effect of LMX and self-efficacy. The summary of results based on a sample of 280 employees who were working in various organizations in KOREA is following. First, POPs were not significantly related to perceived work performance. Second, LMX was positively and significantly related to perceived work performance. Third, LMX did not moderate the negative relationship between POPs and perceived work performance. Finally, our results showed that for individuals with a high level of self-efficacy, LMX moderates the negative relationship between POPs and perceived work performance. That is, for individuals with a high level of self-efficacy, POPs were positively related to work performance under high LMX(in-group), but were negatively related to work performance under low LMX(out-group). Theoretical and practical implications of our findings as well as directions for future research are provided.

Pesticide-Originated Persistent Organic Pollutants in Agricultural Waterways in Chungcheong Province, Korea (충청지역 농업용수 중 농약 유래 POPs의 모니터링 연구)

  • Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) including banned organochlorine pesticides, are found in Korean agricultural environments. Their translocation from agricultural environment to major crops has been reported. In this study, the POPs in 15 different agricultural waters of the Chungchung Province were monitored and all samples were prepared, followed by liquid-liquid fractionation and column chromatography prior to analysis using gas chromatography. Among pesticide-originated persistent organic pollutants, ${\alpha}$-endosulfan was determined in the range of 0.01 to 1.13 ng/mL. ${\beta}$-Endosulfan was determined in the range of 0.01 to 0.55 ng/mL, and endosulfan sulfate was ranged from 0.13 to 1.13 ng/mL. The total sum of endosulfans reached the range of 0.38 to 1.18 ng/mL. Three pesticides being used currently were also found in samples as 2.03-2.05 ng/mL for triadimefon, 0.26-0.33 ng/mL for tolyfluanid, and 1.34-3.85 ng/mL for chlorpyrifos. Taken together, endosulfans were introduced in the agricultural waters and their fates need continuous monitoring.

  • 잔류성 유기오염물질(POPs; Persistent Organic Pollutants)은 환경 내에서 분해가 느려 잔류성이 높고, 생체 지질에 축적되는 독성이 강한 특성이 있다. 따라서 스톡홀름 협약(2001년 5월 23일)에서 12종의 POPs 물질에 대해 국제적 사용금지 및 관리가 결정되었다. POPs는 대부분 반휘발성(semi-volatile) 이어서 대기 중 장거리 이동되어 배출지와 다른 곳에 침적되는 것이 보고되어있다. 이러한 물질들의 대기 중 잔류량과 기체상과 입자상의 분포 특성을 살펴서 환경 내 이동성을 파악하는 것은 인체위해성 수준을 알아내는데 중요한 자료이다. (중략)

  • POPs in sediments and soil in the PRD are comparable to or much higher than those reported in other regions. Some sites may be classified as POPs- polluted with high ecological risks. Large-scale land transform in the process of regional urbanization may facilitate the transfer of POPs in the soil to the sedimentary system by enhancing the soil run-off. Urban atmospheric PCBs in PRD are found to be less than some of the North American or European urbans, but PAHs are significantly higher. The center of the PRD has been the major source area of PAHs and organochlorine pesticides in the PRD. The northern part of the PRD serves as a regional sink for the air particulates and affiliated POPs.

Evaluation of pesticide residue analysis of dieldrin in soil using a high resolution gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (HR-GC/MS)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using HR-GC/MS for the rapid screening of dieldrin residues in soils. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) of organochlorine pesticides such as dieldrin, were analyzed in sedimentary rock and granite rock collected from greenhouses, Niigata, Japan. Dieldrin remains in Japanese farming soils, more than 40 years after their use as insecticides was prohibited. The averages in soil moisture ranged from 2.79% to 7.20% in soils derived from sedimentary rock and from 25.59% to 31.40% in soils derived from granite rock. Mean concentrations of dieldrin residues in sedimentary rock and granite rock were $39.7ng\;g^{-1}$ and $40.51ng\;g^{-1}$, respectively. Dieldrin residue was detected at a slightly higher concentration in granite rock than sedimentary rock samples. There was no consistency between the two soils or between surface and subsurface soils. The coefficients of variation of the two soils were 10.6% and 8.7%, respectively. These results suggest that our high-resolution mass spectrometry detector (HR-GC/MS) is effective at analyzing residual organochlorine pesticides in soil. In order to increase the precision and sensitivity for chemical analysis of POPs, high-resolution gas chromatography coupled with a HR-GC/MS is highly recommended.

Concentration Variations of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Gosan, Jeju during the Polluted Period in November 2001 and the Yellow Sand Period in Spring 2002 (2001년 11월 오염시기와 2002년 봄 황사시기 제주도 고산에서의 잔류성 유기오염물질 농도 변화)

  • Atmospheric concentrations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) were measured at Gosan, Jeju in November 2001 and spring 2002, each time for two weeks. Primary target pollutants were organochlorine pesticides, coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (co- PCBs), and dioxin/furans listed in the Stockholm Convention adopted in May 2001. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were also measured in order to understand the overall characteristics of the POPs distribution as well as PM$_{2.5}$, a potent carrier of POPs. In the latter part of the measurement period of November 2001, almost every pollutant of combustion origin including dioxin/furans went high probably due to influence of emissions in the nearby area. The characteristics of atmospheric environment at Gosan in this period were rather close to urban areas far from those of a background area. A severe dust storm swept for three days at the end of the measurement period of spring 2002. However, changes in pollutant concentrations were relatively small except PM$_{10}$. Nevertheless, increases in particulate PAHs and OCDD (octachlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins), mostly present in fine particles, were observed. Trends in organochlorine pesticide variations were mixed although possible volatilization of DDT residues from soil was inferred from the measurements of spring 2002.2.2.

  • Polychlorinated biphenyls, (PCBs) are a group of highly toxic chlorinated industrial chemicals used as dielectrics, coolants and lubricants in electrical transformers. This article reviewed the state-of-the-art on technologies for decomposition of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), one of the persistent organic materials (POPs). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of decontaminating PCBs contaminated pollutants using treatment technologies such as chemical dechlorination, photodegradation and biological transformation.
