Piezoelectric Characteristics of PMW-PNN-PZT Ceramics according to Post-Annealing Process (Post annealing에 따른 PMW-PNN-PZT 세라믹스의 압전 특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering piezoelectric actuator, $Pb_{0.985}Bi_{0.01}(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})_{0.03}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.13}(Zr_{0.50},Ti_{0.50})_{0.84}$ (PMW-PNN-PZT) ceramic systems were fabricated using $CaCO_3-Li_2CO_3$, sintering aid through a post-annealing process. The sinterability of PMW-PNN-PZT ceranics was remarkably enhanced by liquid phase sintering of $CaCO_3$ and $Li_2CO_3$. But, it was confimed form the X-ray diffraction pattern that the secondary phase along grain boundaries, deteriorated the piezoelectric properties. The secondary phase along grain boundaries was significantly removed by annealing after sintering. The 0.2wt% $Li_2CO_3$-0.25wt% $CaCO_3$-added PMW-PNN-PZT ceramics post-annealed at 900$^{\circ}C$ for 90min exhibited the excellent electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) of 63.3% and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of 452pC/N, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectricactuatorapplication.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering piezoelectric actuator, $Pb(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})_{0.03}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_x(Zr_{0.50},Ti_{0.50})_{1-x-0.03}$ (PMW-PNN-PZT) ceramic systems were fabricated using $CaCO_3-Li_2CO_3$ sintering aid and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the variation of PNN substitution. The piezoelectric actuator requires high piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and high electromechanical coupling factor kp. At the PMW-PNN-PZT ceramics with 9mol% PNN substitution sintered at $900^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor kp, dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and mechanical quality factor Qm showed the excellent values of 7.86 [$g/cm^3$], 0.584, 1881, 485 [pC/N] and 76, respectively for piezoelectric actuator application.

  • The rheological characteristics of PNN-PZT ceramics with high electromechanical coupling factor and electricstrictive constant was investigated. Green sheets of piezoelectric PNN-PZT ceramics were made by tape-casting method with controlling the mixing ratio of a dispersant, an organic binder, and a plasticizer. When the dispersant content was 1 wt.%, the slurry showed the best rheological characteristics for tape casting. The amounts of the plasticizer and the binder was simultaneously varied in the ranges of 1.5~18 and 3~9 wt.%, respectively. When both the plasticizer and binder of 6 wt.% mixed in the solution, respectiveley, the highest green density of the sheet was obtained without macrodefects. Multilyered structures of PNN-PZT/Ag-Pd were successfully fabricated using the optimized tape casting condition. The polarization behavior of these actuators seemed to similar to typical electricstrictive polarization behavior. The multilayer ceramic actuator is about $0.6{\times}10^{-3}$ of strain.

  • In this study, in order to develop the multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic resonator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated by the variations of ball size at sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated as a function of the variations of ball size. When the ball size was 3mm$\phi$, density, dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}r)$, electromechanical coupling factor(kp) and piezoelectric d constant$(d_{33})$ were increased. At the ball size of 3mm$\phi$, the specimen showed the optimum values of density=7.909g/$cm^3$, kp=0.592, Qm=1292, $d_{33}$=368pC/N, $\varepsioln_r$=1502, respectively.

  • In this thesis, piezoelectric properties and sintering properties of PCW-PNN-PZT+0.5 wt%$MnO_2$ ceramics adding $B_2O_3$ after creating the specimens with a general method. The lattice constant from the analysis of crystal structure showed that the crystal structure of ceramic features both rhombohdral and tetragonal structures and that the pychlore structure was decreased with the increase of the sintering temperature. The electromechanical coupling coefficient showed its maximum of 31 % in the sintered specimens at $1050^{\circ}C$, and its minimum of 20 % in the sintered specimens at $1150^{\circ}C$. The mechanical quality coefficient marked the maximum of 139 at the sintering temperature of $1150^{\circ}C$.

  • $Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.07}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.10}(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})_{0.83}O_3$ composition ceramics with high piezoelectric properties were fabricated by the columbite precursor method for ultrasonic generators, and the effects of sintering temperature on microstructure and piezoelectric properties were systematically investigated. It was found that the tetragonality of the ceramics decreased with increase in sintering temperature. Moreover, excellent physical properties such as $d_{33}=447pC/N$, ${\varepsilon}_r=1,843$, $k_p=0.641$, and $Q_m=1,207$ were obtained for an ultrasonic generator when the second calcination temperature and sintering temperature were $720^{\circ}C$ and $920^{\circ}C$, respectively.

The Effects of PZT Ratio and Sr Doping on the Piezoelectric Properties in PZN-PNN-PZT (PZN-PNN-PZT계 압전 조성에서 PZN 함량과 Sr Doping이 압전 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In a Pb-included piezoelectric composition, $Sr_yPb_{1-y}[(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_x-(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.2}-(Zr_{0.46}Ti_{0.54})_{0.8-x}]O_3$ was selected in order to attain high piezoelectric properties. According to the PZN ratio (x) and the amount of Sr doping (y), the crystal structure, microstructure and piezoelectric properties were measured and evaluated. In the case of Sr 4 mol% doping, the piezoelectric properties were the highest for a PZN ratio of 0.1. In this condition, the grain size was larger and the intensity was higher. With the PZN ratio fixed and varying the Sr doping, the piezoelectric properties increased until 10 mol% doping and then decreased for over 12 mol% doping. In the case of x=0.1 and y=10 mol%, the best piezoelectric properties were obtained, i.e., $d_{33}=660pC/N$ and $k_p=68.5%$, and these values seem to be related to the grain size and crystal structure.

  • This study was to measure the minuteness structure, dielectric properties of 0.03PCW-0.07PNN-0.9PZT ceramics according to sintering temperature manufacture the specimens with a general method. The results of this study were gotten such as follows. The crystal structure of ceramic changed the rombohedral structure into teteragonal structure according to rising sintering temperature in XRD. Dielectric constant at $20^{\circ}C$ showed its maximum value 510.599 in specimens sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ and dielectric loss showed its minimum value 7.43% in specimens sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$. The variation rate of dielectric constant according to the change of frequency showed its minimum value 0.029/kHz at $1100^{\circ}C$. The variation rate of dielectric constant according to the change of temperature showed its minimum value $1.40/^{\circ}C$ at $1500^{\circ}C$.

  • Magnetoelectric composites with compositions (1-x)[0.5PZT-0.25PNN-0.25PZN](ferroelectric) - x[$(Ni_{0.9}Zn_{0.1})Fe_2O_4$](ferrite) in which x varies as 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 were prepared by conventional ceramic process. The presence of two phases (ferroelectric phase with large grain and ferrite phase with small grain) in the particulate ceramic composites was confirmed by XRD, SEM and EDX. The ferroelectric and magnetic properties of the composites were studied by measuring the P-E and M-H hysterisis loop on the composite composition (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 1), they were strongly affects of the phase content in composite. The magnetoelectric votage was measured as a function of DC magnetic field and the maximum magnetoelectric voltage coefficient of 14 mV/cm Oe was observed in x=0.2(80 mol% ferroelectric and 20 mol% ferrite phase).

  • In this paper, $Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.07}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.10}(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})_{0.83}O_3$ ceramics were fabricated by the conventional solid state method to obtain excellent dielectric properties for ultrasonic generators. The effects of 2nd calcination temperature on their microstructure and piezoelectric properties were systematically investigated. The tetragonality increased in the ceramics when 2nd calcination temperature increased to the optimized temperature at $750^{\circ}C$. At that temperature, excellent physical properties ($d_{33}=352\;pC/N$, ${\varepsilon}_r=1,687$, $k_p=0.570$, $Q_m=1,640$) were obtained for ultrasonic generator application.
