This study were carried out to evaluate effect of consequent application of pig manure compost (PMC) on soil chemical properties, dehydrogenase activity, and yield of potato in volcanic ash soil. The more application rate of PMC increased, the more increased soil pH, total-nitrogen, available phosphate, exchangeable cations (K, Ca, and Mg), heavymetal (Zn and Cu)contents. When application rate of PMC and crop cultivation times increased gradually, soil dehydrogenase activity was significantly increased. After third cultivation period, dehydrogenase activity showed PMC 2 ton (3.5), PMC 4 ton (6.3), PMC 6 ton (8.0 ug TPF $g^{-1}\;24h^{-1}$), respectively. The activity was twofold higher than first cultivation period. During the third cultivation period, dehydrogenase activity increased linearly comparison to Cu and Zn contents and that was correlated with Cu ($R^2$=0.907) and Zn ($R^2$=0.859) content, respectively. As the application rate of PMC increased, the yield of potato increased, but NPK+PMC 2 ton treatment was more higher than other treatments.
Purpose: All-terrain vehicle (ATV)-related injuries have increased since the introduction of ATVs to Korea. The purpose of this study is to compare patients with ATV-related injuries (PATV) to patients with motorcycle (MC)-related injuries (PMC). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of PATV and PMC who visited an emergency center in 2008. The cases of PMC were 164, and those of PATV were 52. Results: While PMC are seen evenly in the first half year and the second half year, PATV are seen mainly the first half year (from March to June: 73%). For PMC the most frequent injury mechanism was collision with another vehicle, while for PATV, it was side overturn/roll over. The injury severity score (ISS), the revised trauma score (RTS), the trauma score and the injury severity score (TRISS) were $5.6{\pm}5.6$, $7.7{\pm}0.7$, $5.0{\pm}2.1$ for PMC and $7.1{\pm}7.5$, $7.7{\pm}1.1$, $5.5{\pm}1.5$ for PATV, respectively. The most common injury sites were the lower extremities for PMC and the face for PATV. The rates of admission, surgery and the length of hospital stay were similar between PMC and PATV. Conclusion: This study shows that the risk of ATV accidents is similar to that of MC accidents. We recommend that the same safety standards and regulations that are applied to MCs should be used for ATVs. Safe and enjoyable paths have to be sought for drivers of ATVs.
The common speech recognition system displays higher recognition performance in a quiet environment, while its performance declines sharply in a real environment where there are noises. To implement a speech recognizer that is robust in different speech settings, this study suggests the method of Parallel Model Combination adaptation using frequency-variant based on environment-awareness (FV-PMC), which uses variants in frequency; acquires the environmental data for speech recognition; applies it to upgrading the speech recognition model; and promotes its performance enhancement. This FV-PMC performs the speech recognition with the recognition model which is generated as followings: i) calculating the average frequency variant in advance among the readily-classified noise groups and setting it as a threshold value; ii) recalculating the frequency variant among noise groups when speech with unknown noises are input; iii) regarding the speech higher than the threshold value of the relevant group as the speech including the noise of its group; and iv) using the speech that includes this noise group. When noises were classified with the proposed FV-PMC, the average accuracy of classification was 56%, and the results from the speech recognition experiments showed the average recognition rate of Set A was 79.05%, the rate of Set B 79.43%m, and the rate of Set C 83.37% respectively. The grand mean of recognition rate was 80.62%, which demonstrates 5.69% more improved effects than the recognition rate of 74.93% of the existing Parallel Model Combination with a clear model, meaning that the proposed method is effective.
An efficient method that compensates the HMM parameters for the noisy speech recognition is proposed. Instead of assuming some analytical approximations as in the PMC, the proposed method directly re-estimates the HMM parameters by the segmental k-means algorithm. The proposed method has shown improved results compared with the conventional PMC method at reduced computational cost.
In this paper, we study a model parameter compensation method for noise-robust speech recognition. We study model parameter compensation on a sentence by sentence and no other informations are used. Parallel model combination(PMC), well known as a model parameter compensation algorithm, is implemented and used for a reference of performance comparision. We also propose a modified PMC method which tunes model parameter with an association factor that controls average variability of gaussian mixtures and variability of single gaussian mixture per state for more robust modeling. We obtain a re-estimation solution of environmental variables based on the expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm in the cepstral domain. To evaluate the performance of the model compensation methods, we perform experiments on speaker-independent isolated word recognition. Noise sources used are white gaussian and driving car noise. To get corrupted speech we added noise to clean speech at various signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). We use noise mean and variance modeled by 3 frame noise data. Experimental result of the VTS approach is superior to other methods. The scheme of the zero order VTS approach is similar to the modified PMC method in adapting mean vector only. But, the recognition rate of the Zero order VTS approach is higher than PMC and modified PMC method based on log-normal approximation.

We have demonstrated new functionalities of Ag doped chalcogenide glasses based on their capabilities as solid electrolytes. Formation of such amorphous systems by the introduction of silver via photo-induced diffusion in thin chalcogenide films is considered. The influence of silver on the properties of the newly formed materials is regarded in terms of diffusion kinetics and Ag saturation is related to the composition of the hosting material. Silver saturated chalcogenide glasses have been used in the formation of solid electrolyte which is the active medium in programmable metallization cell (PMC) devices. In this paper, we investigated electrical and optical properties of Ag-doped chalcogenide thin film on changed thickness of Ag and chalcogenide thin films, which is concerned at Ag-doping effect of PMC cell. As a result, when thickness of Ag and chalcogenide thin film was 30nm and 50nm respectively, device have excellent characteristics.

This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of pumpkin powder in the diet of experimental animals on chemically induced stomach and mammary canceers. Three weeks old male SpragueDawley rats were randomly allocated to either 1) basal diet+MNNG, 2) basal diet+MNNG+PMC, 3) 2.5% pumpkin powder supplemented diet+MNNG+PMC, or 4) 5.0% pumpkin powder supplemented diet+MNNG+PMC for stomach cancer experiment. And female Sprague-Dawley(5 weeks old) rats were randomly assigned to either 1) basal diet only, 2) basal diet+DMBA, 3) 2.5% pumpkin powder supplemented diet+DMBA, or 4) 5.0% pumpkin powder supplementd diet+DMBA. In both experiments, supplements of pumpkin powder in basal diet decreased body weight of both male and female experimental animals. Pumpkin powder in rat diet decreased significantly(p<.05) chemically induced stomach cancer. With its suppressing effects on stomach cancer, pumpkin powder in diet of experimental rats had decreasing effects on the initiation and development of DMBA-induced mammary cancer. In conclusiion, current study may provide in vivo data to develop health foods using pumpkin. Further studies, however, are essential to clarify the exact role of pumpkin powder in chemically induced stomach and mammary cancers.

In this paper, we have studied isolation enhancement using a suppression of surface wave to improve performance of array antenna. To reduce isolation between elements of array antenna, perfect magnetic conductor(PMC) and SOFT-surface is designed and located at center of ground plane, isolation and gain is simulated by commercial full wave simulator(HFSS). As a result, isolation of more than 40 dB and gain improvement of 2.2 dBi are obtained at E-plane array in case of both PMC and SOFT-surface. At H-plane array, air coupling is dominant compared to coupling by surface wave. It is conclude that this study is useful for design of compact array antenna and performance improvement of array antenna.

In this paper, the surface wave that caused the isolation problem when the design of the array antenna is studied. The grounded dielectric slab model is used in order to simulate in the similar environment with the surface wave of the microstrip patch antenna. The propagation of the surface wave on the various types of grounds which are defected ground structure(DGS), perfect magnetic conductor(PMC), Soft-surface, and Hard-surface is simulated. As a result, 25 % power is blocked by the DGS when the TM-wave incident. Also, 95 % power is blocked by the PMC and Soft-surface. This study will be very useful to increase the gain of an array antenna by improving the isolation between the antenna elements.
This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of application of urea and combination of urea and pig manure compost (PMC) on the occurrence of and the recovery from ammonium ($NH_4{^+}$) toxicity in Chinese cabbage. To identify $NH_4{^+}$ toxicity of the crop four levels of urea at 0, 160, 320, and $480kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ were applied, in addition, three levels of PMC at 10, 20, and $40M/T\;ha^{-1}$ was also applied with urea $320kg\;ha^{-1}$. For recovery $NH_4{^+}$ toxicity, six levels of sucrose were treated at the amount of 0, 600, 1,200, 1,800, 2,400, and $3,000kg\;C\;ha^{-1}$ at each level of combining treatments of urea and PMC. Our results showed that $NH_4{^+}$ toxicity was occurred at every urea application of $320kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ regardless of PMC applied to the soils because $NH_4{^+}$ contents in the soils were more than $155mg\;kg^{-1}$ which was found to be the critical level to damage crop growth at 2 days after transplanting (DAT) in this experiment, the more sucrose was applied up to $1,800kg\;C\;ha^{-1}$ for the plants damaged by ammonium toxicity occurred at $320kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$, the greater extents recover the plants from the toxicity. PMC showed the similar effect with sucrose on recovering Chinese cabbage plants from $NH_4{^+}$ toxicity at 30 DAT.
