  • 1993년 창업한 영림원은 개인정보관리 PIM과 전사적자원관리 ERP시스템을 개척한 벤처기업이다. 베스트셀러중의 하나로 손꼽힌다는 개인정보관리 'K실록'과 한국형 ERP를 국내에 토착시킨 'K.시스템'은 영림원 28명의 직원중 연구원 20여명이 1년반동안 7∼8억원의 막대한 연구비를 투입해 얻어낸 결실이라고 한다.

  • Vibrational characteristics of coupled beam & plate system are considered on simple system, which consists of plates(2-subsystem) and beams(4-subsystem), using experimental statistical energy analysis(ESEA). First, damping and coupling loss factors of the system are determined by power injection method (PIM). Then, energy distribution of all the subsystem is estimated from the power balance equation. Finally, these quantities are compared with measured energy. The correlation of measured and estimated results for the sample problem is reasonably good.

  • Production components fabricated by metal powder injection molding are analyzed for features to identify the design window for this powder technology. This reverse approach lets the designer see where PIM has a high probability to succeed. The findings show that the most suitable components tend to be less than 25 mm in size and less than 10 g in mass, are slender, and have high complexity.

  • This study introduces strengths theory, a core subject of career development and job-getting, and discusses about the factors of strengths(namely talents, knowledge and skills), the processes of strengths personalization, and generating employability. It searches for opportunities to apply the concept of employability to the field of Library and Information Science now thrown under hard pressure from information and communication technology. Employability is defined here as competence to make oneself employable as needed by discovering or creating work opportunities using one's own tested personalized strengths. Employability is a package of systematically organized information about the essential abilities and productive personalities of a person, and it is essential to be duly cognitive of one's employability if one seriously intends to succeed in jobs and career. Since generation of employability heavily involves complex processes of information and knowledge-making, expertise from LIS, particularly from areas of personal information management(PIM) and personal knowledge management(PKM), is expected to help for process facilitation.

  • Tool steels serve a large range of applications including hot and cold workings of metals and injection mouldings of plastics or light alloys. The high speed steels (HSS) are specifically used as cutting tools and wear parts because it has high strength, wear resistance and hardness along with appreciable toughness and fatigue resistance. From the view of HSS microstructure, it can be described as metallic matrix composites formed by a ferrous with a dispersion of hard and wear resistant carbides. The experimental specimens were manufactured using the PIM with T42 powders (50~80 vol.%) and polymer (20~50 vol.%). The green parts were debinded in n-hexane solution at $60^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours and thermal debinded at an $N_2-H_2$ mixed gas atmosphere for 8 hours. Specimens were sintered in high vacuum ($10^{-5}$ Torr) and various temperatures.

  • KARI(Ko.ea Aerospace Research Institute) has measured the ionospheric electron temperature and density over the Korean Peninsular with the Langmuir and Electron Probe(LEP) onboard the Korean Sounding Rocket-II(KSR-II) In 1998. The purpose of LEP is to measure the electron density and temperature profile in the ionosphere. LEP consists of the Langmuir probe(LP) and the Electron temperature Probe(ETP) which are widely used for the measurement of the ionospheric plazma environment . We discuss the development of the Langmuir and Electron Probe which will be onboard the KSR-III and some test results in a simulated space plasma environment with the plasma chamber at the ISAS in Japan. These measurements could contribute to the basic study of ionospheric environment which also can be compared with other reference models such as IRI and PIM.

  • The proposed method inserts a watermark information not mto a whole Image region but only into regions of interest(ROIs) To extract the ROIs, we divide an original Image into sub-blocks and use modified Shi-Kuo Chang's PIM(picture information measure) as the criteria to select the ROIs Considering the directional information and frequency bands, we insert the watermark information into sub-blocks m the DCT domain. The proposed method can reduce the distortion in comparison With the other methods which utilize the whole Image as an nor The proposed method makes much less damaged Images m comparison to the other methods And those Images processed by the proposed algorithm are more robust to the changes caused by signal processing operations such as resampling, clipping. noise, and so on Also due to the block-based watermark insertion, the proposed method has the robustness to the Image compression processes such as JPEG and MPEG.
