  • Bluetooth is the most promising network paradigm which ca open the new area in the information technology. Especially, bluetooth can link all the electrical products and PCs(Personal Computer) to cellular phone or PDA. In this paper, the data from ECU which are gathered by scanner are communicated between tow PCs using the bluethooth modules. The acquired data are ECU's self diagnosis signal and sensor output signal. Self diagnosis signals are very important to check the ECU's state and sensor output signals. Using these data, the possibility of wireless communication with ECU is developed and verified. Protocol stack of bluetooth is L2CAP through HCI and wireless communication software of ECU's signal is developed using VC++ in Windows 98 environment.

  • Nowadays, mobile devices are very common equipments such as mobile phone, PDA, etc. These equipments need information storage devices. Optical storage devices have more advantages than other storage devices, but it is not free from shock situation like dropping by user's mistakes. A complete model of a Small Form Factor Optical(SFFO) disk drive subject to shock loads is developed to investigate the response of the pickup/disk interface. With this model, we can simulate the drop test and consider the matters of shock simulation using commercial software(Ansys/LS-Dyna).

Performance Improvement of Voting-based Speaker Identification System by using the Observation Confidence (관측신뢰도 적용에 의한 투표기법 기반의 화자인식시스템의 성능향상)

  • Recently demands for the speech technology-based products targeted for the mobile terminals such as cellular phones and PDA are rapidly increasing. And voting-based speaker identification algorithm is known to have a good performance in the mobile environment, since it works well with small amount of speaker training data. In this paper, we proposed a method to improve the performance of this voting based speaker identification system by using the observation confidence value which is derived from the function of SNR each frame. The proposed method is evaluated with ETRI cellular phone DB which is made for the speaker recognition task. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance of 2-3% identification rate than the conventional GMM method.

  • This paper shows the dosimetric uncertainties of electromagnetic field at in-vivo and in-vitro experiments. For more accurate consequences of these researches, we have tried to find out any correlations among output power, power density and specific absorption rate(SAR) with the results of in-vivo, in-vitro tests and SAR reports of cellular phone and PDA. In the case of in-vivo tests, the power density has close statistical correlations with SAR value and in the event of in-vitro tests, the output power has considerable statistical correlations with SAR containing duty factor. On the other hand, we found that both power density and output power don't have any close correlations with SAR. And, we obtained fitted regression form among frequency, power density and SAR containing duty factor through multiple linear regression analysis.

  • For a power source of usual electronic devices such as PDA, smart phone, UPS and electric vehicle, the battery made of serially connected multiple cells is generally used. In this case, if there are some unbalanced among cell voltages, the total lifetime and the total capacity of the battery are limited to a lower value. To maintain a balanced condition in cells, an effective method of regulating the cell voltage in indispensable. In this paper introduced a method for battery balancing system using dissipation in the resistance.

  • 현재의 가전 시장은 네트워크를 기반으로 갖춘 지능적인 인터넷 정보가전으로 발전되고 있다. 또한 휴대폰, PDA 와 같은 모바일 단말기를 이용하여 정보가전 기기들을 원격에서 제어하고자 하는 요구가 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 휴대폰을 이용하여 댁내 외에서 댁내 정보가전 기기들을 모니터링하고 제어할 수 있는 효율적인 정보가전 제어 인터페이스를 설계한다. 휴대폰의 제한된 리소스를 고려하여 정보가전 제어를 위한 메뉴 구성과 사용자 인증 방식을 설계 구현한다.

  • 본 논문은 유비쿼터스 헬스케어 서비스 기반의 환자 치료를 위한 임상프로토콜 지식표현 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 프로토콜 태스크 관리 모듈, 이벤트 스케줄링 모듈, 그리고 자동실행 및 지식 공유를 위해 XML형식의 저장 모듈을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 제안한 방법을 모바일(cell phone, PDA)과 웹 어플리케이션을 사용하여 야뇨증 환자치료를 지원하기 위한 유비쿼터스 헬스케어 서비스 기반의 임상 프로토콜 기술방법을 적용하였다.

  • 네트워크상에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠(디지털 아이템)를 다양한 전송 매체(인터넷, 방송 무선전화 등)를 통해 전달하고, 서로 다른 기능의 단말기(PDA, PC, TV, Phone 등)를 통해 디지털 아이템을 소비하는데 있어 상호호환성(Interoperability)을 제공하기 위해 디지털 아이템의 생성, 전달, 소비 단계에 이르기까지 디지털 아이템의 규격을 제정하고자 MPEG-21(멀티미디어 프레임워크)이라는 이름의 국제 표준화 작업이 진행 중이다[1]. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-21의 디지털 아이템 선언 언어인 DIDL(Digital Item Declaration Language)을 이용하여 컨텍스트 디지털 아이템(XDI: conteXt Digital Item)을 XML 문서형태로 생성하고, 이를 컨텐츠 디지털 아이템(CDI: Content Digital Item)의 종류(영화, 음악, 도서, 게임 등)에 구애받지 않고 웹 브라우저를 통해 소비할 수 있는 디지털 아이템 브라우저를 구현하였다. 디지털 아이템의 다양한 형태에 적절히 대응하기 위해 XSLT(XML Stylesheet Language Transform)를 이용하여 디지털 아이템 정보를 표현하고 웹 브라우저를 통해 소비자의 환경에 적합한 디지털 아이템을 소비 및 이용할 수 있는 어플리케이션을 제공하는 환경에 대한 연구 결과를 제시한다.

An Effective Pre-refresh Mechanism for Mobile Handhold Device′s Embedded Web Browser

  • Mobile handhold devices such as PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) and Cellular Phone are more and more popular for personal web surfing. But today, most mobile handheld devices have relatively poor web browsing capability because of the small bandwidth of wireless connection, the small speed of CPU, the small capacity of RAM and Flash ROM, the small display size of LCD and the short lifecycle of battery. Users have to endure bigger communication latency than Desk PC's one because of these factors. In this paper, we propose an effective pre-refresh mechanism for handheld device's embedded web browser so as to make user's web surfing faster. The experiment was done using the simulator designed by ourselves and the experiment result demonstrates the proposed mechanism has a good performance to make web surfing faster.

  • As a result of growth sensor-enabled mobile devices such as PDA, cellular phone and other computing devices, in recent years, users can utilize the diverse digital contents everywhere and anytime. However, the interfaces of mobile applications are often unnatural due to limited resources and miniaturized input/output. Especially, users may feel this problem in some applications such as the mobile game. Therefore, Novel interaction forms have been developed in order to complement the poor user interface of the mobile device and to increase the interest for the mobile game. In this paper, we describe the demonstration of the gesture and posture input supported by an accelerometer. The application example we created are AM-Fishing game on the mobile device that employs the accelerometer as the main interaction modality. The demos show the usability for the gesture and posture interaction.
